B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
They were alright but was one of Thudley’s poor attempts to do a socially relevant and diverse storyline that he overdid and gave up on it. Also around the same time he gave us Amber having yet another miscarriage along with a painkiller addiction Story that lasted for all about May Sweeps that year if I recall right lol.

I definitely noticed that too! Y&R I know did once before back in 2003 when they showed a lengthy montage of Victor & Ashley’s history together before Ashley’s fateful car accident, someone throw in a silent clip of Victor marrying Epperson’s Ashley to which I was in total shock at the time.

Princi also later came back on Days as a Linda Anderson recast in 1984-85.

One & Done: Actors Who Only Appeared on One Soap
If I recall right she had a couple dayplayer roles on AW in the early 80’s but I don’t think either of the roles were substantial. I don’t think Light has but as for Brynn Thayer she actually briefly appeared as Susan on Days back in 2011 when EJ made a phone call to his mother, although I don’t think we saw her face. Thayer also did a hilarious job as a Kim Zimmer type diva actress on the web soap Life in General back in 2008 if that counts too.

One & Done: Actors Who Only Appeared on One Soap
Speaking of Kelly Ripa I remember when the soap press kept pushing Erin Hershey Pressley as a next big soap star but aside from guest hosting the View her other soap auditions didn’t fare well.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Y&R’s Official Facebook page uploaded clips today of Esther giving birth to Kate/Chloe during the thunderstorm, it’s too bad we can’t see it in its entirety.

This is strange, the 25th Anniversary book mentions him in that role of Joseph Thomas from 1979-1980 yet nothing is listed for that character as far as I can tell in the synopsises I have for 1979 and there was definitely no cross connection between Jill, Nikki, and Casey at all as Jill was the midst of the entire Stuart/Derek/Katherine/Suzanne mess while Nikki was working for Rose and Casey seeing Lucas and being uncomfortable sexually. I wonder who wrote that fiction? 🙈 A 1993 Chicago Tribune interview they did with Quinn Redeker makes it sound like his earliest appearance on the show came sometime in 1973.

GH: AMC FAVE Joins Cast
The break in soaps has made it even worse too as a lot of posters quit for good knowing these shows were not worth returning to especially on CBS.

It really did change Jill as well as the opinion of her at Jabot. I remember watching Joanna trying to make friends with her initially yet I know by 88 at least John & Ashley had grown a lot of respect for Jill. One of my fav moments for Katherine & Jill in ‘91 comes when Jill fears Katherine is drinking again over Rex dating Leanna while Kay fears Jill has set herself up to fail by tying to date John. In a way I wish we did see a bit more of Katherine/Rex/Jill as more of an update as Rex really loved the both of them and they loved Rex the same way back. Although I wasn’t a fan of John & Jill’s 90’s marriage, personally I will she did better than John Abbott & the first Keith Dennison. It’s strange because I almost think Porter was along a lot longer I have seen a few ‘86 articles of where Lester from fall of 86 gets always called “ex-Jack”. Then again aside from Ashley’s abortion Y&R’s history in the fall of 1986 is barely spoken of. Nothing of Dina’s exit or Marc’s return, barely anything about Jason & Molly’’s resolution, we know Neil Fenmore died in the fall but seems to barely phase Lauren, and nothing about Diane Jenkins falling in love with Genoa City Chronicle publisher Gary Thompson was ever brought up again too much. 🤔

Nailed it on the both accounts! I’m glad Jess took over when she did as well. That said I always found it fascinating the show allowed Jill’s victory lap at Jabot to happen after the divorce settlement. On any other soap we would have see Jill fail miserably as a comeuppance yet Bell allowed Jill to flourish at Jabot and later Newman as a surprisingly successful businesswoman. Plus rewatching the 1990-1994 Jill/Katherine stuff is so much fun as the two kind of care about each other yet hate each other’s guts at the same time I don’t think BD could have pulled it off as well.

Thanks! As much as I love Jess there’s always something dynamic I love about Brenda. Actually, I love all the actresses who played Jill from what I’ve seen and was glad to finally see Bond Gideon as Jill a couple years back as well I was surprised that Gideon actually didn’t last longer.

Y&R to air classic episodes
LOL @Vee MAB & Co. never ever had an original thought ever! Almost all of her stories were redos and ripoffs from previous Y&R stories, while Sheffer recycled his trashy ATWT and Days stories while Hamner(he did not inherit his father Earl Jr.'s talent at all!) borrowed elements from movies and primetime. In addition to the above, I seem to recall Cane/Caleb's death was ripoffed from The Untouchables, Kevin and Chloe's courtship was a blatant ripoff from Pretty in Pink(they even called themselves Andie and Duckie!) and Victor and Genevieve were originally planned to do An Affair to Remember before it was thrown out last minute. Perhaps the only original story the three of them told was the volcano story. It also probably remains the worst story ever screened on Y&R.

Speaking of Jill and Nikki I don’t even recall the two interacting even when Jill had her fling with Victor or when the two had a quasi triangle involving Jed Sanders in 1994. Oddly after Victor’s shooting in 1996 we did have Nikki randomly threaten Christine over her growing friendship with Victor.

Anybody Ever Write their own Soap?
May seem strange but I did once outline my own fictional soap opera almost twenty years ago that I’ll always call “Love at Large” set in San Francisco Bay Area about two families, the old money Weaver’s who own “Hyde & Weaver” Department Stores (Think Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom) and the nouveau-riche Colton family who own Colton’s Discount Stores (something along the lines of K-Mart or Target of course) with various characters peppered in. A lot of my inspiration at the came from a mix of Y&R, B&B and yes Sunset Beach at the time but I was hoping for a more conventional soap. The title I remember I came up with I remember thinking as “At Large” being original in the political sense as being “as a whole, general” but then I later found out a trashy 1990 movie with Annette O’Toole and Kate Capshaw used the same title in the criminal sense. Sheesh! Haha if anyone wants exact details I’ll share, I was pretty bored at the time. 🙃

Definitely agree, Marc was a Dynasty like character, I suppose it was because he was suppose to be some fancy rich European ex-pat. I think there was a break in between Marc’s stints, he came back to romance Joanna if I recall right but I don’t know why Bell even thought to bring him back as I believe Dina was leaving out in 1986 or so. There was a sister named Danielle Mergeron but I don’t think she ever appeared on screen or if she did it was just a very brief appearance with no story.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
Dang, I really miss that era of the show as well! It was fun and entertaining then with occasional groaners (The Massimo twist, how many miscarriages and pill addiction stories did Amber have for Emmy reel week?!) but at least there was actual sustained storyline that mattered and there was progress for the most part.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Haha I have that book and I know there’s a couple glaring omissions(for example Jason Carter nor Molly Stark are not listed despite having a minor D-story in 1986) and as you mentioned several of the dates are wayyyyyy off. But it is pretty comprehensive overall for the first 25 years! My Most Memorable Moments book’s cast list is just as bad, it doesn’t even list Bond Gideon for Jill nor have all the Greg’s listed LOL.
