It’s certainly much better played than most of the affair reveals we’ve seen lately on daytime. It actually involved the families, which is classic soap. Still there’s something rather thin about it, as I was never that invested in Ned/Olivia.

Hey, I hope this show does right by MM. She’s too talented to be marginalized. Hopefully they were paying attention to the strong response to Amanda’s scenes with her family and build on that.

Y&R clearly cared about Sharon as a (future) lead of the show and paired with a Newman scion. And we did have her mother Doris as a consistent presence in the early years. I don’t see the same level of investment in Amanda. Hilary certainly could have been viable long term. That the show brought MM shows that Y&R knew they screwed up by killing her off. It’s harder for Amanda because she exists in Hilary’s shadow. One reason why I’m not optimistic is that Y&R is currently written week to week. Very few stories gain momentum.

Proven wrong about Amanda’s long-term viability. And I just don’t think they are that invested in her family. I hope to be proven wrong about that too.

I’d love to be proven wrong about Amanda. It’s a bad sign that they don’t have any immediate plans for her newly introduced family, which was the first and only time Amanda really took fire. She says she’d “love to work with them again,” meaning the actors who play her mother and sister.

Don’t get me wrong. He wouldn’t get kicked out of my bed. But even taking that into account, he’s fine. Up against Xander or Eli? Again, YMMV.

It also helped that he wasn’t just thrown back in Pine Valley.
