Knots Landing
As much as I love KL, I don't intend to pay for any episodes. Not when WB could allow a FAST streamer such as Pluto TV to continue running them w/ commercials. I hope you can continue, @Vee. Reading your analyses has been a real treat.

All My Children Tribute Thread
My issue with the doppelganger storyline - aside from the fact that Susan Lucci is not strong enough as an actor to play a double role (one viewing of "Double Edge" taught us all that lesson, lol) - was that Erica's doppelganger was someone we'd never met before and had no connection with Erica other than being some obsessed fan, or something. And as for the "Phantom of the Erica" storyline: my issue there was and is the same issue I always have with this kind of story. We know Erica is not going to be disfigured for the rest of her life, so what's the point? It might've provided an opportunity for Erica to realize how she had taken her beauty for granted; to really "work on herself," as it were, and see how much more she had to offer the world besides her looks. But I'd watch enough of this show to know better, lol.

ICAM!! I think Lorraine Broderick, Victor Miller and later Margaret DePriest all recognized that the time had come for Erica to mature. That's why they finally let Erica become a mother (to Bianca) and reunited her with her father; and even though her relationship with Travis might have taken some hits, there also was the possibility that they could work through their issues and reconcile. Once Agnes Nixon returned, however, all that was undone. Eric sold his Enchantment shares to Natalie and left town, thereby re-igniting all the abandonment issues between him and Erica. Travis and Barbara slept together and conceived Sean as a bone marrow donor for Molly; and that, along with Erica and Jack's lingering attraction, and Travis' rather boorish reaction to the whole mess, pretty much guaranteed that Travis and Erica never would reconcile. Finally, Erica had to suffer the indignity of losing custody of Bianca - to Travis, who actually got a happy ending with Barbara (albeit, one that was off-screen) DESPITE their infidelity! - as "punishment" for sleeping with Jack, who, by that point, was clearly being propped as the better suitor over Travis, who had become a royal PITA.

Whenever I see Jerry Lanning, I immediately think of that episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" that he guest-starred on, as some singer who was introducing a new dance called "the Twizzle."

SMDH. We all know the nation and the world are in crisis these days, but nothing should stop us from honoring our loved ones on a day like Valentine's Day. If anything, this is the PERFECT time to show our gratitude for each other and prove that "love wins." I love NLG and think she deserves far more than what GH gives her. But she's really gotta shut the f**k up.

ARTICLE: Soap Vets Jon Lindstrom & Cady McClain Join The Cast of ‘Beyond the Gates’
At last! My prayers have been answered! Cady McClain gets to have a role of her own on a soap, instead of being a recast! Thank you, MVJ, and everyone else at BTG for making this happen!!

Yeah, but to say THEY invented the soap opera. No, you assholes. You didn't invent the soap opera; Irna Phillips did. She might not be around anymore, but give her her damn flowers just the same.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
A great episode, except for one thing: who on Earth would bring their husband's suicide note with them on a cruise?

Another Life
Whenever I have the time to sit down and watch clips on YT, I'm always impressed at how professional the production appeared to be, even though the show was taped in VA and likely didn't have a large budget.

ARTICLE: Hank Northrop, Son of Lynn Herring and the Late Wayne Northrop, Joins ‘Days of our Lives’
I'm actually intrigued to learn who he'll be playing (Roman's long-lost son, perhaps?). At any rate, I'm sure WN would be very proud of his son - who, IMO, resembles both him AND his mom - and I wish Hank all the best at this new gig!

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
At the risk of sounding crass, Joe Werner must've had what Tamar Braxton would call a "dingaling of gold." Ellen Wheeler's idea for a "reset" might've sounded far-fetched. In a way, though, it also might've been the best way to handle all the changes that had come in the wake of moving to Peapack.

All My Children Tribute Thread
I'm not @Jonathan, but I would've LOVED to have written a breast cancer storyline for Erica/Susan Lucci. Mona had battled cancer years before; and as we all know, having a history of cancer in your family places you at a greater risk of developing cancer as well. Also, Erica was the ideal character to tell that story as far as what you SHOULDN'T do when you suspect you might be ill: ignoring the telltale signs, preoccupying yourself with work and with other matters, hoping it'll just "go away." I wanted to explore each and every beat with Erica: from her finding the lump in her breast, to her immediate denial that it is anything serious and concentrating instead on some major project happening at Enchantment (something that would've involved Bianca and Kendall, of course), to being forced to confront the issue (by none other than Brooke English!) and undergo a biopsy, to Erica's worst fears being confirmed (and being tempted in the moment to self-medicate with pills or alcohol), to her fears over how the cancer and course of treatment might affect her beauty (and the admission that, for all of her life, she has taken her beauty for granted to the point where she isn't sure whether she could BE anything else), to major milestones, such as undergoing the mastectomy, beginning chemo/radiation treatments, losing her hair, etc.; to receiving a cancer-free diagnosis; to her attempts at getting her life and career back on-track as a cancer survivor; to learning that, in fact, the cancer has returned (and perhaps spreaded to some other area, such as her lungs); to her vowing once more to beat it (even as she fears privately that she might not); to her actually beating it a second time (and hopefully, this time, for good). And with her every step of the way (aside from her loved ones, of course) would be Brooke, of all people, as the two longtime nemeses would develop a bond of sorts, as Brooke would end up helping Erica through what might be her biggest crisis yet (with one consequence being Opal, as Erica's sole female friend up to that point, feeling jealous and resentful for awhile). One scene, in particular - where Erica accuses Brooke of not understanding what it means to feel alone and scared, and Brooke admits (publicly, for the first time, I think) how she had to undergo an abortion after getting raped by Eddie Dorrance - would be pivotal in Brooke and Erica reaching a new understanding with each other. More than all that, however, and because I've always adhered to Agnes Nixon's belief that storytelling should entertain AND educate, Erica's breast cancer battles would provide the impetus for a new romantic relationship with the doctor assigned to her case - ideally, he would've been played by Robert Urich - and maybe the first man in recorded history NOT to fall immediately for Erica's considerable charms. In fact, he might be the first man ever to admit that he can't stand her! So, of course, you know it's only going to end in romance, lol. Jack would be nibbling around, of course, once again playing the rival for her affections. He even goes so far as to buy Erica another engagement ring. Then, he witnesses a moment between Erica and the doctor - not a kiss or a passionate embrace, but something. Later, Erica finds the ring and accepts Jack's proposal before he's even actually proposed! However, Jack tells Erica what has been apparent to many except her: that she's actually in love with her doctor...and he's just as crazy about her. Although Erica insists that there is nothing in common between her and her doctor and that she is as committed as ever to reuniting with Jack, he, on the other hand, tells her he'll always be there for her, and they part as friends. In a way, that ties in with my post-cancer plans for Erica. Specifically, she starts The Mona Foundation. Named in honor of her late mother - herself, a cancer survivor - it would've been a non-profit organization, promoting cancer awareness for women, and older woman in particular.

LOL!! BUT...there's a twist! Ava, who's once again after Sonny (and Sonny's power), has paid Sonny's doctor to tell him that the stress of having sexual intercourse could jeopardize his health, forcing Sonny and Brenda to spend month after agonizing month yearning to be together again, but afraid that doing the do could kill him, lol!!
