  1. I agree. Moreover, because KL was community-based rather than family-based, they had the freedom to introduce and to write off characters as needed in order to keep the show fresh. Did losing characters like Abby, Ben and Laura hurt KL in the long run? Absolutely. On the other hand, KL never became as repetitive as DALLAS and DYNASTY, nor did it become as unrecognizable as FC. If anything, I think MP left 90210 in the proverbial dust after awhile, forcing 90210 to get soapier just to maintain some of its' audience.
  2. On the one hand, I understand all too well how someone like Maurice Benard needs work in order to maintain emotional balance. But, on the other hand, watching him clearly struggle to remember his lines and engage with his scene partners can be nothing short of painful. It literally takes me out of the drama.
  3. Same here. No soap scribe, past or present, has a 100% perfect record. But I think what separates Curlee, Long and Marland (and others) from the hacks (who shall remain nameless) is their ability to give us moments of good-to-great drama even if they are surrounded by dreck.
  4. Julie's got him on her Consumer Cellular plan.
  5. Is anyone looking forward to seeing Belle end up with her sister's rapist? Because, God knows, I'm not, lol.
  6. No surprise that the ten lowest-rated episodes all would come from the last two seasons. As much as I see S14 as a return to form after the disastrous previous season, I do admit that KL itself was spent by that point.
  7. The same was true for Phil and Tara, Chuck and Donna and Cliff and Nina.
  8. And poor Michael Dietz, having to fill Rick Hearst's shoes as Alan-Michael on GL. Talk about being set up for failure.
  9. Yeah, I still can't believe Kit Fisher really happened either, lol. I think even I did an episode of "Silk Stalkings" once, lol.
  10. I think the first two movies, "South by Southwest" and "A Story to Die For," were okay. The third movie, "The Last Free Man," is fine, once you get past the premise (Jessica's ancestor solves a murder in the Old South) and the "white savior" trope. "The Celtic Riddle," however, just feels like every other episode where Jessica travels to Ireland (or, as I collectively call those shows, "Jessie McGill and the Little People").
  11. It's incredible to me that Michael Dietz and Paige Rowland have a daughter who's about to graduate from college. Time doesn't just fly, ladies and gentlemen, it moves at the speed at light.
  12. Too bad she didn't audition for Kendall.
  13. I agree with @jmgaw as well. TEXAS was doomed from the start; and in the long run, it hurt AW and NBCD more than helped.
  14. I've heard/read two explanations for that gap. One explanation was that Corymore Productions (meaning, of course, Angela Lansbury and her family) was having such difficulties getting CBS to approve the story for the next movie. The other explanation was that they were so upset with how Leslie Moonves treated MSW, they were in no rush to fulfill the rest of their agreement. Regardless, Lansbury remembered J. Michael Straczynski, who pitched to CBS what became the second movie ("A Story to Die For").
  15. I'd add CAPITOL, GENERATIONS and SANTA BARBARA to that list.
  16. I think part of the problem with S6, aside from Julianne Phillips' absence and the fact that Sheila Kelley was a poor replacement even for Jo Anderson, was that Alex, Georgie and Teddy had grown so far apart as siblings and as people. Those sisterly bonds that helped define the show in the beginning were gone. (Having each actress absent for several episodes also didn't help). Moreover, with John and Georgie now divorced and John living in Seattle, Teddy still grieving over Falconer's death (as well as recovering from a brain injury) and Alex and Big Al, a recurring character who isn't in every episode, forced to carry the mantle of the show's tentpole couple, it just felt like "Sisters" no longer had a core.
  17. Carly: "Are you there, God? It's me, Carly." God: "Who??"
  18. Hey, you can't blame DAYS for writing to an actor's strengths! (Relax, everyone, I'm kidding!)
  19. As do I. I always thought it was ridiculous seeing Abby spar with Paige. Just as I always thought it was ridiculous seeing AMC's Erica Kane spar with women who were young enough to be her daughter.
  20. One of the sisters DID kill him. Alex, in fact, helped Truman die. She was brought up on charges and sent to trial. However, she was exonerated.
  21. Personally, I wonder why P&G hired Joanna Lee as a producer and not as a writer.
  22. The thing is...Linda kinda made a good point. Sorry to hear of Lincoln's passing. May she RIP.
  23. It figures that Irna Phillips and the man they called "the Smiling Cobra" would've made a connection, lol.
