  1. He looks much thinner than I remember. Much, much thinner.
  2. What made TPTB think Heather Tom wouldn't leave? I'm sure she loved working at Y&R. However, she was (and is) a very skilled actress who could have been an asset for ANY series, daytime OR primetime. Ergo, not doing everything in their power to hold onto her was just the height of hubris and stupidity.
  3. Chances are, if AMC had stayed on ABC, the network would have forced the writers to cook up some cockamamie plot where a suddenly deranged Jacob kidnapped Jesse and assumed his identity in order to reunite with Angie.
  4. It says a lot that Mark Collier remained appealing as Mike Kasnoff even through some incredibly dumb writing.
  5. Agree. Granted, I wasn't alive to watch the Steve/Alice/Rachel triangle. However, from what I have gathered over the years, George Reinholt and Steve Frame were VERY popular with AW's audience. As one soap historian put it, the triangle was compelling, because Alice and Rachel each represented a side of Steve's nature.
  6. All things considered, I think they would've been better off just sending Danny and Michelle into the Federal Witness Relocation Program. Then, down the road, if they wanted to bring back Michelle (with a recast), they could explain how the mob found and killed Danny, thus giving nuMichelle a reason to come out of hiding and come back to Springfield (namely, to avenge her husband's death).
  7. Does anyone know how long Judith Light had been portraying Karen when these scenes originally aired? IMO, the scenes served two purposes: 1) to help the audience see Karen as more than just Jenny's wayward sister and Larry's shallow wife; and 2) to establish a bond between Karen and Viki that's going to pay off down the road when Karen basically sacrifices herself on the witness stand to clear her newfound friend's name of murder. Obviously, Tina's arrival will tie in with Marco Dane's "murder," giving Viki a motive for wanting to kill the bastard. However, I, too, have wondered if Russell originally intended for Tina to serve as a troublesome, surrogate teenage daughter for Joe and Viki, since their marriage was pretty solid, Kevin was still an infant and Joey hadn't yet been conceived (AFAIK).
  8. If I were Kellyanne Conway, I would, at the very least, march straight into that Oval Office and tell him, in no uncertain terms, that the next slur he utters against my husband OR my kids will be his last. OTOH, if I were Kellyanne Conway, I wouldn't be working for Trump in the first damn place.
  9. Speaking of James Carroll, what happened to him? He seems to have dropped off the face of the earth!
  10. Actually, Pamela K. Long and Jeff Ryder had planned to do more with Victoria, along with the rest of Brandon's Barbados family. However, as Ryder himself suggested to me (via email), P&G nixed it, because they weren't entirely comfortable with there being African-American Spauldings.
  11. All these years later, and I'm STILL mad about how AMC tanked Travis and Erica's relationship.
  12. Agree.
  13. As I've said elsewhere, I just think it's so neat that these actors are participating in these online reunions for their fans. It's been just what we needed as we continue to cope with this pandemic.
  14. I'm not sure, but I THINK that's Paul Tulley (ex-Dr. Larry Wolek #1, OLTL; ex-Creepy Edward, Y&R). He played Scott Bradley.
  15. Ah, the '90's.
  16. Frankly, I don't think anything will change at the NBC News organization. They'll continue to commit the same, old atrocities against the journalism profession. They'll just have someone new to rubber-stamp 'em. But, at least Lack's out the door. So, I'll just celebrate that and move on.
  17. But seriously. I think White America was and is bothered by the Obamas, not necessarily because they are African-Americans, but because they are African-Americans who stay refusing to play into stereotypes about African-Americans. IOW, Barack isn't strutting around like Chicken George, and Michelle isn't going around saying, "Ain't nobody got time for that!," like Sweet Brown. They don't pander to White America, who's fine with African-Americans so long as they stay "non-threatening" and in their lanes. They never have, and they never will.
  18. Yet, if African-Americans were protesting, there would be attack dogs, gunshots and tear gas canisters aplenty.
  19. IOW, it's not an actual soap.
  20. Meanwhile, the blasted NYT's editorial board is looking to sabotage the election once again in Trump's favor by asking for a full investigation into Ms. Reade's claims. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/01/opinion/biden-tara-reade.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage
  21. It just seems to me like they forget the cardinal rule of satire, which is to send up something you actually love. That's why I give Susan Harris and "Soap" a pass, because as loony as that show was, she still managed to imbue her show with a lot of character, suspense and heart.
  22. Sigh. Soap parodies.
  23. This is what happens when people refuse to learn from history. May that woman (and others like her) live in interesting times.
