  1. Are you serious? *shrug* Okay. Well, like I said: Maggie's parents, Elmer and Dorothy Simmons, were killed in an auto accident that also left Maggie "crippled" for many years (until Mickey, as "Marty Hansen," showed up at her farm, fell in love with her and eventually got her the life-changing surgery that she needed). Now, obviously, this happened "before my time" and I don't have access to the DAYS archives; so, this is all dependent on these events happening off-screen. If the viewers at that time saw what happened, even if it was via flashbacks, then scrap the whole thing. BUT... Suppose Elmer, being a poor dirt farmer, with a wife and daughter to raise, fell into a midlife crisis. And suppose that that left him emotionally vulnerable to the teenaged Maggie's best friend: a lusty, young woman, perhaps slightly older than Maggie, but whose father is the pastor of the local church that the Simmonses attend, and where Elmer himself serves as deacon. Now, suppose that, on the day in question, Dorothy realizes her beloved husband is having an affair and heads off to confront him. Maggie, torn between her loyalty to her father and that of her mother, jumps in the car with Dorothy, hoping to dissuade her. (Of course, Maggie's tearful pleas fall on proverbial deaf ears.) Dorothy catches Elmer with the young girl. She heads back to the car. Elmer leaves the young girl and joins his wife, begging for the chance to explain. Maggie remains in the car, hoping in vain to play peacemaker between her folks. As Dorothy continues driving, however, her and Elmer's argument becomes more and more heated. Finally, at a pivotal moment, Elmer admits he never loved Dorothy; that he only married her because he thought she was pregnant (she wasn't; they had Maggie later)! Dorothy becomes completely unglued at that moment, causing her to lose control of the car and crash, killing herself and Elmer, and injuring poor Maggie. Unable to cope with the knowledge that her father had had an affair with one of her peers, as well as the truth about her parents' rocky marriage, Maggie has psychologically suppressed it all. Unfortunately, when this new character (played by Martha Byrne) arrives in Salem, and gradually, through the necessary chain of events, she reveals she is the product of Elmer's affair, making her and Maggie half-sisters, Maggie is forced to relive everything. Maggie breaks down emotionally, and comes very close to falling off the wagon, but finds the strength to attend an AA meeting. Julie also learns why Martha Byrne's character has shown up in Salem and why Maggie is dangerously close to going back toward the bottle. Fearing for Maggie's physical and emotional health, Julie is ready to tear Martha Byrne's character a new one. However, Maggie stops her, reassures her that she will be okay and makes the first, tentative steps toward accepting Martha Byrne's character into her family... Of course, down the road, their newfound, sisterly bond will be put to the test when Martha Byrne's character becomes involved with Xander, just as he and Sarah are getting back together, and they are on the verge of getting married.
  2. Chances are, if Ron Carlivati had been writing GH back then, he would have had TG/Luke disguise himself either as his BRIGHT PROMISE character or his guest-starring role on “All in the Family” as a not-so-subtle wink to the audience.
  3. Are we sure Johnny hasn’t been possessed by the spirit of Stefano DiMera instead?
  4. By the way, I also stand by my other, most recent casting choices: Melanie Smith as a Billie recast, and Martha Byrne as a newcomer who turns out to be Maggie’s long-lost half-sister (a long-buried secret that ties in with the car accident that killed Maggie’s folks and left her paralyzed for a period).
  5. So, I just googled Alma Delfina. Apparently, she’s only four years younger than Ana-Alicia; and since they apparently didn’t do much with Mama Hernandez when she was on the show…? Yeah, I’m standing by fantasy casting choice: Ana-Alicia as a recast for Adriana Hernandez.
  6. Have we ever met Rafe and Gabi’s mom? I’d say Ana-Alicia might be good for THAT role (with either a returning A Martinez or Lorenzo Lamas playing their dad).
  7. Even she doesn't seem thrilled about it, lol!
  8. Actually, that would leave the following: Abe, Anna, Doug, Jennifer (unless I couldn’t get Cady McClain back and on-contract), John (even though I’d really love to get rid of him!), Julie, Justin, Kate, Kayla, Maggie, Marlena (even though I’d really love to get rid of her!), Nicole, Steve, Tony, Valerie (if I could get back Tina Andrews) and Victor. And I'm only keeping on Doug, Julie, Maggie and Victor, because I feel uncomfortable writing out aging and/or ailing actors. I wouldn't use them heavily, but I wouldn't eighty-six them either. So, lol? It's not as if I'd have Marlena wake up one morning to find Bobby Ewing John in the shower while Tommy Westphall -- I mean, Theo Carver -- is downstairs playing with one of his snow globes. I'd phase out most of the cast gradually -- like, say, over a week or two? Besides, it's much better than the plans I have for GH:
  9. Listen, I think it's sweet how Patrika Darbo wants to pay tribute to Betty White, but.... From the looks of that wig, you'd think she was getting ready to join Moondoggie and the rest of the gang on the beach. I call this the "Farrah Flip-Out."
  10. Alan Locher Must. Be. Stopped.
  11. I, myself, would have preferred to see Ashley just ask Victor, who'd become a close, personal friend by that point, to donate his sperm so that she could have the baby she'd always wanted.
  12. Please, for the love of Bram, would someone tell Ron Carlivati that the devil and Dracula are Not. The Same. Thing?
  13. Agree. I miss Hope, but I don't see a point in recasting her either. Let's see, if I were heading up the (alleged) DAYS "clean sweep"... Abigail, Allie, Ava, Belle, Ben, Bonnie (or just reveal she’s really Adrienne), Brady, Chad, Chanel, Chloe, Ciara, Craig, Gabi, Gwen, EJ, Eli, Jake, Jan, Johnny, Kristen, Lani, Lucas, Nancy, Paulina, Rafe, Rex, Roman (or bring back Wayne Northrop and have Josh Taylor resume playing Chris), Sarah, Shawn, Susan, Tripp and Xander. That should free up some cash.
  14. "Everybody (Allegedly) Loves Raymond."
  15. Well, I guess we now know what he wouldn't do for love, and that's put on a [!@#$%^&*] mask.
  16. Well, at least it wasn't Sally Struthers or Roseanne again.
  17. In the past, when Y&R was still run by competent people, their corporate storylines, typically revolving around Jabot and Newman Enterprises, were the most riveting, because they knew that the more specific they were, the bigger the stakes for everyone involved.
  18. If Melanie Smith were returning to acting, then I'd love to see her on DAYS -- but not as a Hope recast. If anything, she should be a recast for Billie.
  19. And taking.
  20. Even Lex Luthor would be amazed at this level of villainy.
  21. Agree. Victor and Ashley have (or had) way more story potential together, as a couple, than do Victor and Nikki, who have been played out for the longest time; and if Y&R weren't always so damn fixated on Victor and Nikki, they'd realize that, too.
  22. Going out on a proverbial limb here and saying it's Stefano DiMera (DAYS). Don't ask me why.
  23. "Johnny Devil"? Was that the flip-side to Shelley Fabares' hit song, "Johnny Angel"? If this were a bad sitcom -- which is what DAYS is like, sometimes -- Craig would reveal he's just helping a young man learn how to read, or the two were just rehearsing lines for an upcoming production of "The Boys in the Band."
