BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
I only saw a little of GL during the Peapack days, and it was quite shaky. That being said, technology has come a long way since then, and I think a new soap would be improved greatly and more modern with more on location shooting. TV movies, such as those on Lifetime, Hallmark are shot on a shoe string budget, but there's a ton of on location shooting. Maybe if the show is shot in Atlanta it will lend it to more of that.

ITA...At least bring back the Forrester gym and have them stand around shirtless while they have these nonsense, repeating conversations. Thomas proposing every week was creepy, and any reasonable person would think that Hope should not rush into marriage with anyone, especially Thomas, right now!

I still think Brooke should have an fling with Hollis...and then, she finds out he's Ridge's long-lost son from an ex-model at Forrester!

ITA. I've loved Brooke the most when she's being all messy. I thought the show was on fire when she and Deacon were having their secret affair. When Stephanie found out...so much fun!

I don't see ATWT or GL ever returning in any shape or form at this point. BUT, if this show were to be successful, I could see ABC possibly rebooting AMC (and a lesser extent OLTL) since the network owns the rights to those shows. The shows could also stream on Hulu with all of ABC's titles. The twin cancellation of those shows remains to be a head scratcher. ABC still had to be making money off of both of them, and they had just paid all that cash to relocate AMC to Los Angeles. And, God knows, none of the stuff they replaced those two shows with ever took off.

I'll never understand why they sidelined Brooke and Thorne so quickly. I thought KKL and WH had AMAZING chemistry, and the story just upped her rivalry with Stephanie. Then, after all they did to get together, their whole marriage ended in like one single episode, so that Brooke could go back to Ridge. IMO, Brooke has always been much more interesting without Ridge. I really believe that's what they were teasing in the Poppy/Finn dialogue...that Finn could be Luna's father. Finn's whole..."Why would you come to me with this?" etc etc. I would hope that's NOT the case, but this show has done freaky, offensive stuff before. Remember when Ridge started to romance Bridget...the girl he thought was his daughter and sister at different points? So, creepy. Yet, they went there. That being said, I wish they would just say who the hell Luna's father is, and there has to be more to Li hating her sister than Poppy screwed up at a hospital gift shop job Li got her.

So, how many times has Thomas asked Hope to marry him at this point? Dude, get a clue! As someone else mentioned, why do characters feel like they must constantly get married. I groaned when it looked like...Poppy was going to tell Finn that he was Luna's father. That would have been beyond creepy and offensive, and I hope that's not where we're headed. That being said, I wish Poppy would just tell Luna who the hell her father is.

Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
Those Capwell dinner party episodes are still some of my favorite of all time TV. The way the writers really got into the characters and their backstories was magical. I also thought Margarita Cordova did some amazing work in those episodes where Rosa acknowledges how her own children lacked the mother they needed because she was busy also raising the Capwell kids after Sophia "died." It struck me as how many childcare workers for the wealthy must feel when tasked for doing the parenting for rich, absent parents.

I just rewatched those episodes after many years. I think on paper it probably sounded good with Lionel obsessed with Sophia's daughter that looks like her, but ITA it came off very creepy!

There's so many fun things that could be explored just by the fact that show is set in LA. How has there never been a character that's been an actor, for instance? The show should have a fun younger set that explores more of the city.

It would make sense for The Talk to get cancelled. The show has always struggled to find its voice and a dedicated audience. TPIS and LMAD are cheap moneymakers with reliable ratings, so they aren't going there. So, IF The Talk is cancelled and replaced by this new show, I REALLY hope CBS places it right after Y&R and then airs B&B after The Gates. The new show deserves a timeslot that would give it the best shot, and Y&R has such a huge AA audience even though you wouldn't know it since they utilize their black cast.

The show desperately needs a younger and fresher perspective to make it relevant. There's so much opportunity to explore just by the fact that the show takes place in LA.

We're in yet another holding pattern with characters just repeating the same words over and over again. Why couldn't Bill and Liam's scenes be replaced by a B-story to mix things up? This is why it feels like stories come out of nowhere. There's no build-up with stories at the different start points. Why can't these people find ONE other restaurant in LA to eat at??? lol

ALL: Narcissistic Soap Characters (currently)
I think Liam on B&B owns this thread...closely followed by Ridge.

And, where I think the show misses a HUGE opportunity in developing more depth in the stories is not exploring the people in the basement (where Thorne worked). The people who are doing the REAL hard work, and showing and exploring class struggles that way as well as give us that character who's trying to claw their way to the top. Right now, it's so easy for a new character, such as Luna, to become a BIG success at FC without really showing them doing anything.

Liam is still giving me creepy vibes. They should really go in that direction with the character versus the Steffy/Hope back and forth. Am I the only one wondering what the hell is IN THOSE MINTS? More repeat dialogue over and over today. Also, does anyone at FC actually work? All they do is make out and have sex in the office!

I do wonder what will become of broadcast networks in five or more years. How will they evolve? SVU, NCIS, and Grey's Anatomy can only go for so long, and I think the reason shows such as those are still on the air is that the networks would rather keep something known with a smaller audience that risk something entirely new. Hopefully, if The Gates happens, it will result in networks taking risks again.

Today was a total FF episode....just repeating and repeating what's been said a thousand times already. Also, I found Liam and Steffy cuddled up on the couch to be soooo cringey at this point. Please, God, do we have to go back to them reuniting...AGAIN?

Airing it after Y&R, which has a very sizable AA audience, would be the smart thing. If the show's an hour, just air B&B after it. Although, I think a half-hour soap would be a smart idea in this day and age. Maybe air it after Y&R, B&B after The Gates, and then fill the next half hour with a new talk show.

The reason I think this may happen is that there's actually a quote from CBS as well, and they announced this. So, they must be serious. The questions are...will it be half-hour or an hour...and what time slot would it go in? TPIR still does really well. Y&R just got a four year renewal. I'd assume B&B is okay as well. Let's Make a Deal seems to do fairly well and must be cheap to produce. It could go in the slot where The Talk is. That show has had constant upheaval, cast changes, and it's never really caught on like The View on ABC. I actually think a 30 minute show would be a better bet to launch and much cheaper to start up.
