When Carter finally became the person who called out Zende on his BS, I thought "finally." But, then of course he follows it with what a "good guy" Zende is. Even IF Zende truly believed that Luna was suddenly in his bed and wanted to be with him, he should have at least been questioning WHY she was suddenly acting this way out of nowhere AND be thinking of how this could impact RJ, his cousin. They completed ruined the character of Zende with this story.

I still think the show should air after Y&R and then have it followed by B&B to give it the best chance. I feel like B&B isn't even trying to tell engaging, fresh stories at all anymore. The post-Y&R slot gives The Gates its best shot for viewers to sample it.

OMG...this is so awesome! I honestly never thought we'd get the premiere of another daytime soap in the US.

If I had a dollar for every time a character has said "mints" on this show.

Before the whole "mint" disaster story, I thought a triangle with Hope/Thomas/Zende with Thomas being the bad guy would have been an interesting way to go. Hope has ZERO chemistry with Finn as there is no conflict between them. Their personalities are way too similar. I think the show missed the boat by not having Finn develop at least a little bit of an edge after he found out Sheila was his birthmother. The show continues to be "fast-forwardable."

The man writes some shockingly bad scripts. Just watch one episode of The Oval. It makes B&B look like Masterpiece Theater. That being said, he obviously has an audience and makes a ton of money off of his low budget productions.

Now would be a great time for the show to age Katie and have her show up. She could be jealous and envious of Claire, stir up trouble, and also start a new teen scene with Lucy.

They should just say "our big anniversary" and leave it at that. Otherwise, it means Nick had Noah when he was like two years old!

It always drives me crazy when soaps do this. "It's been X years since this happened," but it doesn't jive with the ages of the characters.

And, when you watch his movies/series, it becomes obvious HOW they shot it so fast. Very few costume changes, VERY long scenes where people repeat the same lines over and over...wait!...Am I talking about B&B? LOL

This is a HUGE complaint I've had about this show for a very long time...it's seemingly uncapable of featuring more than one story most episodes. So, if you're not into THAT story, like me, you just tune out. And, that also creates this lack of build-up. Sure, it's a 30-minute soap, but 30-minute soaps featured more than one story an episode. Even during the writer's strike, I noticed we were getting episodes that featured more than one story. The audience isn't stupid. We don't need 30 minutes of people repeating the same dialogue over and over to follow the story. It makes zero sense that each episode can't have a B-story. I usually watch just the first couple of scenes, and if I can tell it's going to be an episode of Liam, Hope, Steffy repeating stuff over and over that they've said before with Brooke and Ridge talking about the SAME stuff that is happening with Liam, Hope, and Steffy AGAIN, I just tune out and don't even watch.

I sooooo think that Sheila isn't dead. Remember how before she died she kept saying she was meeting up with "an old friend." Maybe the old friend was her sister.

Is B&B still saying Paris is on contract?? She hasn't appeared in months. I wonder if they're keeping her listed as a way to say they have "one AA actress" in the cast.

Hope's been divorced for what....two minutes...and people are riding her for not accepting the marriage proposal from the dude who told her her baby was dead. I. Can't. Even.

The character of Phyllis really does feel directionless at this point. After faking her death, she's been written into a corner. For the story to make any sense at all, it would have to be something much bigger than the fight with Tucker...something that probably goes back to her childhood. Abuse is often the reason people develop DID. Which then would beg the question how long have all of these alters been around and have then "come to the surface" before?

I watched the first few scenes and knew there would be ZERO story progression. So, I didn't even bother. The whole Hope/Thomas/Steffy mess makes zero sense. WHY WHY WHY would Hope want to rush into marriage...with the guy who stole her baby...after she barely just got out of a divorce?

Wow...it's sad how things really haven't changed much in 40 years.

I feel like Sally lost so much of her luster during that whole Nick/Adam thing. Personally, I I'm so over Adam at this point. The actor is great, but the character is just feeling one-note and redundant at this point. I sort of feel the same way about Billy. In many ways Billy and Adam are almost written as the same character type. It would be a great idea to write Adam, Chelsea, and Connor out at the same time. Have them move to Europe or such. I can't understand why Chelsea has lasted this long, either.

I only saw a little of GL during the Peapack days, and it was quite shaky. That being said, technology has come a long way since then, and I think a new soap would be improved greatly and more modern with more on location shooting. TV movies, such as those on Lifetime, Hallmark are shot on a shoe string budget, but there's a ton of on location shooting. Maybe if the show is shot in Atlanta it will lend it to more of that.

ITA...At least bring back the Forrester gym and have them stand around shirtless while they have these nonsense, repeating conversations. Thomas proposing every week was creepy, and any reasonable person would think that Hope should not rush into marriage with anyone, especially Thomas, right now!

I still think Brooke should have an fling with Hollis...and then, she finds out he's Ridge's long-lost son from an ex-model at Forrester!

ITA. I've loved Brooke the most when she's being all messy. I thought the show was on fire when she and Deacon were having their secret affair. When Stephanie found out...so much fun!

I don't see ATWT or GL ever returning in any shape or form at this point. BUT, if this show were to be successful, I could see ABC possibly rebooting AMC (and a lesser extent OLTL) since the network owns the rights to those shows. The shows could also stream on Hulu with all of ABC's titles. The twin cancellation of those shows remains to be a head scratcher. ABC still had to be making money off of both of them, and they had just paid all that cash to relocate AMC to Los Angeles. And, God knows, none of the stuff they replaced those two shows with ever took off.

I'll never understand why they sidelined Brooke and Thorne so quickly. I thought KKL and WH had AMAZING chemistry, and the story just upped her rivalry with Stephanie. Then, after all they did to get together, their whole marriage ended in like one single episode, so that Brooke could go back to Ridge. IMO, Brooke has always been much more interesting without Ridge. I really believe that's what they were teasing in the Poppy/Finn dialogue...that Finn could be Luna's father. Finn's whole..."Why would you come to me with this?" etc etc. I would hope that's NOT the case, but this show has done freaky, offensive stuff before. Remember when Ridge started to romance Bridget...the girl he thought was his daughter and sister at different points? So, creepy. Yet, they went there. That being said, I wish they would just say who the hell Luna's father is, and there has to be more to Li hating her sister than Poppy screwed up at a hospital gift shop job Li got her.
