  1. I've always found it funny that the foundations of GH and ATWT were slowly dismantled starting with a Carly lying about the paternity of her child.
  2. Jill interviewing a parade of men while making sexual innuendos and then choosing the man who didn't put up with that BS was iconic. Iconic! Brenda Dickson is growing on me in these scenes, she's still a little awkward and arch but Jill is a fascinating character. The trauma from Phillip's death and Katherine's constant interference seem to dictate her every action. You can totally see the throughline in her characterization. When and why was David Kimble recast? I wonder if David turning evil was planned from the start.
  3. I've been watching Y&R episodes from 85, the fallout from John finding out about Jill and Jack's night together. An episode of AMC from 85 was also posted in their thread today. And the production values are like night and day. Y&R looks and feels so lush, with the sweeping camera angles, the close-ups, the deliberated nuanced dialogue, whereas AMC (which is the soap I grew up on so it holds my heart) looks like an 80s sitcom. Y&R was just on another level, sure the show doesn't feel as homey or relatable or funny as other soaps of its day but it's not supposed to be. It's a novel for television, every moment has purpose. It's just so pretty.
  4. Thanks @YRfan23 and @will81
  5. I have questions...is Traci supposed to be a teenager here? She looks 30. Victor and Ashley are just openly having an affair? Kissing in the lab? Happily giggling? Was Ashley torn about this at all? Either of them? Who is Andy's girlfriend? Who is the bald black guy? 3 black guys on Y&R? And they're not related? They can barely handle 3 black people at a time now. I'm shook. I miss when Y&R had friend groups. Are there even friends on the show anymore? Maybe there are now, I haven't watched in some time. Kay was such a miserable old crone. It's a staple of daytime but the fact that she took time out of her day just to antagonize Jill makes her look so pathetic. She didn't even have an excuse, she just went there to spar, it's hilarious.
  6. This masquerade episode is wild. Not a dud in the entire lineup of characters, classic characters all in the middle of classic storylines. Usually in an old episode you can say "oh who is that? Where'd they go?" but this is nothing but superstars. Speaking of...where was Nikki during this?
  7. It's crazy how important the score was to Y&R. They managed through acting, directing and the music to make scenes like Dru signing a modeling contract thrilling, tense and dramatic.
  8. Someone please tell me why that man even has a job? The music on Y&R now is downright awful. And it's always the same [!@#$%^&*] lackluster chords taking us to commercial and the end credits. And how can HE listen to THAT and think his score is okay?
  9. Oh my god! This is amazing! Someone needs to tell Victoria Rowell!
  10. That's so sad...his poor daughter. Edmund got such a bad exit considering how prominent and important he was for much of the 90s.
  11. Today I learned Adrienne Franz is pregnant and that Scott Bailey is not a homosexual.
  12. Those look fan-made. Why would a Tina doll based on Andrea Evans be released with similar packaging as a Todd doll? Anyway, the Todd doll the show released was a little ugly rag doll thing like the Starr doll.
  13. Bizarre promo, "new compelling drama"??? And nothing he says matches with what's onscreen...romance and then two guys sitting at a bar? Adventure and some guy saying he's not going to hurt some woman? Who made this? Lmao
  14. YIKES! Thanks...that is some tough competition but damn.
  15. I think that shot is actually in reverse, which is maybe why it looks so awkward. This promo is very cringey, Reva the sex goddess never worked for me.
  16. I didn't know he could sing!
  17. Your post made me look up that show...it only aired twice? Yeesh how bad were the ratings? I can't find anything online.
  18. Nazanin Boniadi (Leyla, GH) has been cast as a lead on Amazon's big budget Lord of the Rings prequel.
  19. On Monday, January 5, 1970, a haughty teenager with a voluminous bouffant scoffed about her hometown, “Pine Valley isn’t exactly the corner of Hollywood and Vine.” I'm gonna be one of those people: Erica wasn't in the first episode of All My Children.
  20. I've NEVER noticed this on ABC soaps and I grew up on them. GL is the only soap I've been utterly distracted by the ridiculous lighting. The outdoor scenes always had as much lighting as the indoor ones.
  21. Lord this is so bad. And the garish lighting. I always felt GL overcompensating for filming in NY by having the most brightly lit soundstages in daytime. And it's still crazy to me 20 years later that they fired Laura Bell Bundy when she was clearly the best Maura.
  22. They couldn't because they're not that good, don't have any rehearsal time and their mentors/co-stars are lazy/stuck in their ways/also without rehearsal time to nurture a good performance out of their younger co-stars.
  23. Watching that January 18th 1993 episode it's so fascinating hearing the show talk so frankly about sex (and Victoria's seeming asexuality?). Kudos to Heather Tom handling this type of material at such a young age.
