  1. Isn't this just soap? I guess Reilly's difference was characters constantly being on the cusp of finding out the truth. Every scene before a commercial break would seemingly lead into someone finding out some big secret. This would go on for 6 months at a time. Even if there was a side plot to extend the main plot the main plot would never lose focus because everyone was always reiterating what they were hiding and why.
  2. What's he got against the character?
  3. That's the problem, they write these over the top characters then keep them around forever. Ava despite Maura's talents would not have lasted past 1998. But soaps are at a place where they're afraid to write out anyone just in case some portion of the audience might like them. That's why Days is a revolving door and why the average cast member on Y&R is a 30 year vet. And I think the youth set could use a good troublemaker, that's why I would have invested more in her. It's a damn shame that with Nik gone Laura will have no children on this show. It makes no sense. Jonathan Jackson has been gone for a decade and ain't coming back, recast Lucky. Convince Julie Marie Berman to come back. Something.
  4. My point is that the material would be just as bad if Serena or Christina were around instead of Wilsha. You know what I meant. Right now the character is all id. She has no depth. She's like 19 or 20 and pregnant (by a man twice her age) and it doesn't seem to phase her beyond a means to an end. There could be a lot more there but the writing isn't supporting a character here. She's a plot device when there potential for a lot more. Genie's clothing looks horrible every time she gains 10lbs. At this point I think it's her.
  5. I was thinking the same thing lmao Although I get how comforting it might sound to have someone like Serena married to Michael instead of Willow. It's a nice idea since they're legacy kids. But she'd be in the same terrible stories except with Scott and Lucy--I'm sorry--overacting in the background. It's crazy to me that this show can afford to have a fake snow, winter clothes, a horse set, a horse and horse wrangle on set and Y&R can't afford extras. This show never should have had Esme go into psycho territory. I think the actress is very good and the character being unrelated to anyone gave her room for growth. I would have still done the pregnancy story but have Cam be the good stepping up as her friend to help her throughout. Could have been a sweet love story without softening her edges too much and cemented Cam as the good guy he is. Now she's just a psycho with psycho parents stuck with a baby. Cameron Mathison's Drew is just brought to life by spit and gumption mannequin Cameron Mathison.
  6. Heterosexual actor Shemar Moore is having his first child at 52. https://www.instagram.com/p/CnM0srUqCuC/ It won't embed. Anyway, his girlfriend is having a girl.
  7. I think the intention was to just make conflict for Britt and Jason. Jason and Carly were never going to be an actual thing, they were just playing with the audience.
  8. Speaking of that dude, whoever that actor is was horrible in the scenes last week with Maxie and Nina after Britt's death. They were all pretty bad actually. It felt super shallow. Lots of "crying" voice but no tears. And the dialogue was pretty atrocious.
  9. That opening shot of the hospital sign and the voiceover intoning "On General Hospital..." at least gives a sense of *something* happening. If I didn't know any better I'd think the hospital was going to blowup. Y&R's ads read like a musical greeting card.
  10. She would have stayed if Steve hadn't left. Clearly she was enamored with being with one of the stars of the show and the pairing had fans. They show was prepared to go full throttle with them. They tried to give the character something to do and keep Kelly around after her Emmy by bringing on a love interest just for her (Rebecca Herbst meanwhile solely gets everyone else's leftovers) but FoF Josh Kelly didn't click with her and she was just understandably ready to go.
  11. Will anything that Sheila did last year matter? Finn is alive. Li is alive. She's alive. And they all still hate her and keep her at an arm's distance. What was the point?
  12. It's telling that the other soaps don't look nearly this bad. Are the executives and talent just paid that much more?
  13. You don't even need all those sets to tell a good story. They just don't care.
  14. Yeah @Vee stop reviewing Knots Landing and watch your show.
  15. Two things can be true, dear. Note the use of "some".
  16. It's wild to me that you guys argue about characters on this show like it's still 2002 and fandoms matter. Nostalgia!
  17. Not to get off topic but they're amazing together. Sure, it's normal if you've called him that you're whole life. It's not normal when you're 40 and met him only a few months ago and also already have a father.
  18. Gia was "black". Honestly I thought Taggert and Gia were Afro-Latino , I didn't know they were supposed to be black black. This show needs new psycho blood. A pair of crazy sexagenarians should not be running circles around everyone in town.
  19. I never saw AW when it aired but in watching scenes between Linda Dano and Alicia Coppola's Lorna versus LD and RC's Lorna it's immediately apparent how bad of a fit she was. LD and AC just had something electric. Lightning in a bottle type of chemistry.
  20. No, no I'm glad that for once the impassioned white man got through to someone. Anyway, 25+ years ago Jason and Keesha lost their virginities to each other. That makeout session was pretty hot for daytime.
  21. Happy Black History Month! That's how I feel about Ava (who I don't necessarily like but Maura West, like LW, she brings her A game every scene). There are a lot of characters who've stuck around for the last decade that had no business on the canvas after their initial arc. They've all done such insane shít.
  22. When Lily first showed up as Christel Khalil sounding like a Valley girl I recall people online saying "it's because she was raised in Europe!" Yeah, in EUROPE!
  23. Were they perhaps desperate for a teen audience? Because his looks completely fit into that surfer/boy band look of the 90s. He looks fresh off an episode of Saved By The Bell or California Dreams. I started watching long after his debut and even I questioned why this bland doofus was Victor and Nikki's son.
