  1. ^ This is a Q&A video, just keep watching to see more still screens with more questions and answers. She explains it really well. Someone asked Simone why didn't they put an alternate into the team competition when she dropped out? She said it wasn't allowed per the rules. And she said the alternates had already been sent home. Something about had to be done earlier in Olympics, qualifying rounds, etc, which I didn't follow, but she gave enough info for me to look it up. And I found it here: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/simone-biles-gymnastics-replacement-drop-out/ "An injured or sick gymnast can be replaced no less than 24 hours before the start of the qualifications. That is when an alternate can be brought in, according to the international federation's rule book. However, a gymnast who needs to be replaced after qualification – for final events – can only be replaced with another qualifying gymnast. Therefore, none of the alternates can replace Biles, because they did not participate in the qualifying events. Only her current teammates who qualified can replace her."
  2. Sunisa Lee on uneven parallel bars, balance beam, and floor excercise. This youtube doesn't show her on vault; but it has all the rest of her performances for the *team* final. Looking forward to watching her in the *individual* all-around.
  3. Shortly after Peacock deleted the tweet to Mary about when "Beyond Salem" would become available, someone else asked about it, and Peacock replied with this:
  4. Peacock deleted their tweet. Peacock deleted their tweet that said "Beyond Salem" would be available 9/6. They deleted that tweet shortly after they tweeted it. I don't know why, but the deleted tweet remained embedded in the original post here in this SON thread. And that post was quotable. But if you click on that tweet, you get the message "This Tweet was deleted by the Tweet author." About an hour or so later, someone else asked when Beyond Salem starts streaming. Then Peacock tweeted this: "There is no news at this time for when Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem will be available on Peacock TV." Here is the new tweet: https://twitter.com/PeacockTVCare/status/1420473122168393730
  5. No. Marla did *not* pass out while getting her star on the Walk of Fame. The ceremony had been going for an hour, and then she seemed a bit lightheaded for a moment while giving her speech, so they paused the ceremony. Some reporters hastily incorrectly reported that she fainted or was about to faint It turns out that she simply got overheated but was not about to faint. Twenty minutes later, she was sitting down and completing the ceremony where the honoree is photographed at their star. A spokesperson told EW that Marla had a good time at the afterparty. ----------- Here's the ceremony on the Walk of Fame youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwbUYggaBhE The first half hour of the youtube is blank (just a photo with no audio) , waiting for the ceremony to begin. It starts around 30 minutes into the vid. At about 1 hour and 27 minutes, you can see Marla pause in her speech, and they ask if she's okay and she says she is. They help her off the stage. Then there is a few minutes of random people milling about. Then the video goes blank again (just a photo with no audio) for another 20 minutes or so. Finally at 1:19:45, the ceremony resumes with Marla getting photographed by her star.

  7. Simone Biles in the Olympic Trials two weeks ago. I'm trying to watch the Olympics but it's in the middle of the night in my timezone. I wish i had a TV recorder.
  8. This Peacock Days spinoff is five episodes over one week, and it's supposed to cover "a long weekend" in Salem time. Curious when this will air/stream/whatever.
  9. You can already watch GH on Hulu. I don't have any cable service and I can watch full GH episodes there. I just log into hulu.com on my PC and it works. But the GH epis are up for a limited time before they get taken down.
  10. Ava's show Queen Sugar is sort of a night-time soap. Excellent quality. I started watching and ended up bingeing all five seasons. It is *so* good! Every single episode of all the seasons have been directed by women. Really really excellent.
  11. Heather Tom has directed on B&B. Her IMDB says 25 episodes, is that correct? Were there any other female directors on B&B at the same time? I have no idea. HT also directed one episode of Y&R. ---- According to their IMDB accounts: Susan Flannery directed season 4 of the websoap Venice -- with Crystal Chappell. Cady McClain directed season 5 of Venice -- with Crystal Chappell. Hillary B. Smith directed season 6 of Venice -- with Crystal Chappell. ___ Cady McClain is very active in encouraging women to become directors in film and TV. In 2018, she released a documentary about women who direct called "Seeing is Believing: Women Direct." Kimberly McCullough was a Director in the ABC/DGA Creative Talent Program 2012-2014. But I don't think she has directed soaps? Cady McClain and Kimberly McCullough both seem more interested in directing than acting.
  12. July 23, 2021, Carson Boatman married his fiancée, model Julana Dizon. https://people.com/tv/days-of-our-lives-star-carson-boatman-weds-model-julana-dizon/ (They've been together since 2016 and got engaged in July 2020)
  13. I'm pretty sure the Olympics cliffhanger won't be *only* Ben/Ciara/Theo. Something else will happen Thursday, I think ... I assume? there will be a reveal with EJ finally reading the letter from Kristen?
  14. People complaining because she avoided the limelight in Paris... but is now a "Barbie Roll Model" doll, and she is on magazine covers, and in a Netflix special. Well, hello, hey, Those magazine covers were maybe photographed a while back? The Netflix special must have been filmed before Paris. The only *new* thing she did was to release tweets to announce these. And even if any of that was photographed recently, she did it on her own terms, in her own time, on days she wasn't competing in a tournament. That is totally different than being pressured to answer questions at a press conference during a tournament.
  15. I don't think Naomi damaged herself in Paris. I think the media tried to damage her. I support the fact that she stood up for herself!
  16. Being fully vaccinated (one J&J, or two Pfizer, or two Moderna) was never meant to prevent catching a milder case of Covid. Being fully vaccinated protects you against a severe case, hospitalization, and death. You can still catch a mild case. It's always been that way. The science has always said that. The CDC and the WHO say this. The vaccine companies have never said otherwise. The the whole issue is so scary and confusing, and the media and politicians muddle things, so it's understandable that this truth is not understood. --- This has been the case since the vaccines were developed for the original strain of COVID. This is *still* true *at least* 95% of the time - even with the Delta variant. Being fully vaccinated almost always protects you from the Delta variant causing hospitalization or death. But you could still catch a mild case.
  17. I wasn't eligible for a first dose in my state until late April. And by then it was hard to get an appointment. I got my first dose in May and second in June. Many countries don't have any doses available.
  18. I agree with this. (I didn't intend, in my earlier post, to agree with or imply any judgement of slutty or not slutty. I intended to agree with the statement that she wasn't hitting on Eli. And just commenting that it was unsurprising that when she was feeling lost. she hit on her ex who is Theo.)
  19. I agree. And when Chanel hit on Theo a few days ago, it was her reacting to her own pain of Allie sleeping with Tripp. And Chanel and Theo had a relationship in South Africa, so she wasn't hitting on some rando - and also Ciara didn't know that Theo had become involved with Ciara.
  20. I think the Tripp/Allie sex or love scene not being shown ... was a COVID thing. That was filmed around the end of March or beginning of April. Maybe the actors hadn't been vaccinated yet? But that was fine with me. I have zero interest in that pairing. I don't know why we had to see all those Kate/Jake sex scenes. Maybe the actors were quarantined, tested, and agreed to the risk? Or maybe they were actually kissing for only a few seconds but the film editing made it seem like more?
  21. https://www.barnstablecountyhealth.org/covid-19-important-news-and-updates Tuesday, July 13, 2021 Statement on recent COVID-19 cases in Provincetown From: Town of Provincetown Outer Cape Health Services Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment Honorable Sarah Peake, State Representative Honorable Julian Cyr, State Senator PROVINCETOWN, MA – Officials with the Town of Provincetown, Outer Cape Health Services, Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment, state Representative Sarah Peake, and state Senator Julian Cyr are actively monitoring recent cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Provincetown, in consultation with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The positive cases were identified in individuals presenting with mild respiratory symptoms and were tested for COVID-19. Overwhelmingly, the affected individuals have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. The moderate intensity of symptoms indicates that the vaccines are working as predicted. Provincetown has among the highest vaccination rates in the Commonwealth, with 114% of the eligible population age 12 and older in Provincetown having been fully vaccinated. Health officials expect to continue to see a low level of positive cases through the summer in a community such as Provincetown with a seasonal population of approximately 60,000. As we enter a new phase of living with the virus, vaccination remains our strongest defense in preventing serious illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19. In response, town, county, and state officials are working to expand access to testing in Provincetown immediately. By appointment COVID-19 testing has been available at Outer Cape Health Services’ location in Provincetown continuously. Understanding that any report of new cases will prompt an increase demand for testing, additional testing resources from the Commonwealth will be available in Provincetown later this week. (The press release continues with details about specific times/places that testing will be available) ----------------- (the original says 114% and I don't know why). The important point is: "The moderate intensity of symptoms indicates that the vaccines are working as predicted." -------------------- The COVID-19 vaccines are intended to prevent deaths, hospitalizations, and severe symptoms. They were never announced/promoted as being able to prevent mild-to-moderate symptoms. The same is true for influenza vaccines.
