FYI, Tessa and Mariah are pretty informal. So the proposal was not going to be some big formal bash with dancers and singers and evening gowns and flowers. This scene is true to them. I think it's more about heart.

For years, Y&R has constantly put the Mariah/Tessa romance on the backburner. Not featured them. Used them as talk-tos. And oh yeah offensively used them to service Abby Newman Chancellor's entitled storyline. I do think Cait Fairbanks has talent. She does what she can with the limited amount of writing the show gives Tessa. I've grown to care about Tessa. The show has refused to write for Teriah. So I think somebody at CBS finally got the message that this wasn't okay. They're the only part of Y&R I like, so I'm thrilled. Now of course Josh Griffith finds ways to ruin everything or just make it dull. But I'll take this bit of hope while I can get it. I mean, I've invested years of interest in this couple, so I can imagine this promo as being a big romantic deal, even though it was kind of written flat.

I remember watching Chris Evert compete on TV in 1975. TV always showed less women's sports than men's sports back then. Sigh. Grateful that they caught Evert's cancer early. That's two things I don't miss. 1) the old days of limited TV coverage of women's sports 2) the old days of untreatable cancers.

I just looked up the character Brandee's story. from Jason47's episode recap archives. Brandee was a model who was part of the beginnings of the Sami/Austin/Carrie/Lucas story and the inspiration for Sami's bulimia. I can't recap in in a few sentences. Brandee appeared in only 10 episodes in 1993 (first actress) and 2 episodes in 1994 (second actress), but Brandee had a big impact and was discussed even in episodes she didn't appear in. And yet she was treated like a nothing by Salem. It's a bit involved, so I'll put it behind a spoiler tag so that I don't take up too much room in @slick jones's thread.

Based on interviews about his web series "After Forever", Spirtas is serious about portraying a gay man over 50 finding love in a real way. The web series was in 2018-2019. "After Forever" was about a man who was happily married to his husband for 15 years, and then his husband gets cancer and passes away ... and then the series is about their friends helping him with the grief, and he is remembering his husband lovingly. and then eventually he ventures out to find love again -- real love. Ok so it's only speculation at this point. The only thing official is that Nancy comes to Salem to tell Chloe that she(Nancy) suspects that Craig is having an affair. And there's something surprising (perhaps Nancy's imagination suspects something shocking, or maybe there really is something shocking). And then several days later, Craig arrives in Salem to set things straight with Nancy and Chloe. I mean, it could be something like I saw on another show years ago, the suspected cheater was actually secretly privately tutoring an adult how to read, and that adult student didn't want anyone to know he/she couldn't read -- not even the tutor's spouse. And wasn't there a thing on Days where hospital chief of staff (and lead character) Dr. Tom Horton was going out mysteriously, and his wife Alice was concerned about him. And it turned out Tom had been secretly writing poetry as a hobby and reciting his poetry as at a beatnik coffeehouse under the stage name Norm De Plume. He also wore a disguise so Alice wouldn't know what he was up to. Then one night, Tom was performing, and Alice had figured out where he was, and she slipped into the audidence, and Tom was reciting this love poem he'd written about Alice: A Love Poem for Alice by Norm De Plume (Tom's alias when he became a poet.) You can go years without realizing other people know things about you, you don't. You could walk down the street and pass yourself, without knowing who it was you passed. It's hard enough to catch up with yourself and then it doesn't do you any good because you don't know who it is, you've caught up with. The only one who really knows is the girl. But what if he's not? Maybe Craig is faithful to Nancy. Maybe Craig is secretly doing a mission of mercy, or trying out a new hobby -- and Nancy falsely assumes he's having an affair. At this point, the only thing that indicates that Craig's secret is "shocking" is that Ron tweeted "brace yourselves..." in relation to the announcement that Nancy and Craig are coming to town. Or maybe the devil is multitudes jumping in and out of people- even those who are connected to Salem but not living there. Maybe Craig is doing some crazed scheme under the influence of the devil, but it doesn't have anything to do with sex/romance. The entity has already influenced Philip and Lucas to do crazy things - without actually possessing them.

That is a good point. I don't want that negated. If Craig does come out as gay or bi or fluid, I want it to be a real story and not one of Ron's gimmicks. And it must remain true that Craig genuinely loved and was attracted to Nancy.

Yes JKJ is still in the listed as contract in the closing credits, even though he last aired Dec. 22, 2021. (Philip had done some crazy things, clearly due to mental health issues (and possibly influenced by the Devil) and he would have been arrested, so Kate and Victor arranged for Philip to secretly get mental health therapy out of town; and meanwhile Kate and Victor are maintaining a ruse that Philip was kidnapped by an unknown person, probably Kristen. There's a lot more to it than that, but this is enough to answer the question.) Philip seems to be gone for good, but JKJ is still listed as contract, so I guess he'll return.
