  1. "obsessed" ? No. Just commenting on the horrendous current events created by Tr*mp and crew. There is nothing obsessive about commenting on that chaos.
  2. Jimmy Kimmel has been doing political commentary in his monologues for years. This is nothing new. The FCC chair Brendan Carr threatened Disney about the Charlie Kirk comment because of Carr's personal political agenda. Carr contributed to writing the FCC portion of the Project 2025 document, and he seized this situation as a way to further his own agenda.
  3. https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/jimmy-kimmel-returns-late-night-disney-tuesday-1236525670/ And yet, after Kimmel was taken off the air, Disney faced protest from the creative community. On Monday, 400 celebrities — including people like Martin Short and Tom Hanks, who have created memorable characters for Disney in the recent past — signed a letter from the American Civil Liberties Union decrying the blow the maneuver delivered to free speech in America. First Amendment advocates from both sides of the political aisle have decried the situation in recent days. The decision to bring Kimmel back was approved by Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, and Dana Walden, co-chair of Disney Entertainment, according to a person familiar with the matter. The executives acted based on what was best for the company, this person said, and not on external factors. Indeed, it remains unclear if all ABC affiliates will air Kimmel’s program. Spokespersons for Nexstar and Sinclair could not be reached for immediate comment.
  4. https://bsky.app/profile/matthewjdowd.bsky.social/post/3lz4izcf7ek2w Matthew Dowd, former Republican who changed to Democrat after disagreeing with George W. Bush, was a commentator on MSNBC. MSNBC fired him for his Kirk comments. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/sep/11/msnbc-fires-matthew-dowd-charlie-kirk-shooting On September 10, 2025, Matthew Dowd said on-air on MSNBC, commenting on the assassination of Charlie Kirk: "He's been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in. You can't stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that's the unfortunate environment we are in." Dowd also speculated that the shooter may have been a supporter, stating: "We don't know if this was a supporter shooting their gun off in celebration. So we have no idea about this." Later that day, MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler denounced Dowd's comments, saying, "During our breaking news coverage of the shooting of Charlie Kirk, Matthew Dowd made comments that were inappropriate, insensitive, and unacceptable. We apologize for his statements, as has he. There is no place for violence in America, political or otherwise." That evening, Dowd was fired from MSNBC.

  6. 😂 This post is everything! "Well, isn't his plan obvious? He's going to convert one of his train cars to a diner." omg and all the details you laid out. I mean it's just as plausible on anything else on this show. Your Antarctica scenario!
  7. I'm objecting to the governor of California stating that he admired a white supremacist because he sometimes said racist sh!t in a "nice" way. Here's an example of what Kirk really thought: https://bsky.app/profile/localnotail.bsky.social/post/3lzbov5xg7c2s

  12. Looks like both June and Jacob are alive, so what is Naomi's "heartbreaking loss"? I guess it's not a person. Does Naomi lose a legal case?
  13. I haven't been watching Days, but happened upon this clip from today - a scene mentioned abovethread - and thought it was interesting
  14. from Senator Chris Murphy, Connecticut - an 8-part thread social media handle "chrismurphyct" Full thread via bluesky (bsky thread link) same full thread via twitter (twitter thread link) [begin thread] The Kimmel suspension is a much bigger deal than you know. It's really about a growing alliance between Trump and the companies that own America's local TV stations - like Nexstar - to turn local TV into Trump propaganda. 1/ Let me tell you the short story. It's chilling. 2/ In August, Nexstar announced they wanted to buy another TV station company, Tegna. But that's illegal - because it would give Nexstar control of stations in nearly half the country. FCC rules prohibit ONE company from having THAT much control over local TV content. 3/ Why? Because one company shouldn't control local speech in half the country. Also, we want our local TV stations to be run by local actors to preserve local identity and prevent our culture from becoming soullessly flattened - which Nexstar was already doing! 4/ But good news for Nexstar! Brendan Carr, Trump's FCC Chair, said he's open to an unprecedented change in the rules to allow the Nexstar-Tegna merger to go through - which would be good ONLY for the filthy rich owners of both companies. Which means Nexstar has to play ball. 5/ So when Carr threatened to revoke the licenses of local stations that continued to air Kimmel - at the same time he was whispering to Nexstar that he might bend the rules to approve their billion dollar merger - Nexstar knew what to do: BEND THE KNEE. How Jimmy Kimmel Might Have Just Been Sacrificed for a Multibillion-Dollar TV Deal You may not be too familiar with Nexstar CEO Perry Sook. But he and his company are a big reason Kimmel is off the air. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/jimmy-kimmel-nexstar-merger-sook-1236375489/ 6/ Perry Sook, the Nexstar CEO, is already worth over $500 million. This deal could make him a billionaire. If Nexstar controls local TV news content in half the country - and Sook owes his fortune to Trump - then Trump effectively controls content in half the nation. 7/ And it’s not just Nexstar! Sinclair, another right-leaning media group that owns local TV stations, demanded Kimmel apologize and make a donation to Charlie Kirk’s organization. Guess what? Sinclair also wants the FCC to increase the ownership cap for TV stations. 8/ So here's how it would work. Nexstar/Sinclair pledge loyalty to Trump. He gives them control over America's local TV. And they act as his political enforcers, silencing his critics. But if we see the scheme, we can stop it. By mobilizing and speaking out. [end thread]

  16. More on Brendan Carr of the FCC https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2025/01/trumps-fcc-chair-gets-to-work-on-punishing-news-stations-accused-of-bias/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brendan_Carr#Commissioner_of_the_Federal_Communications_Commission_(2017–2025) and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brendan_Carr#Chair_of_the_Federal_Communications_Commission_(2025–present)
  17. No it's *not* all about money. Sure money and ratings are a factor, but that's not why Kimmel was abruptly removed midseason. This is accurate: Carr may not legally have the authority but he's "taking" the authority. This is about Project 2025. FCC Brendan Carr is into that. He might use ratings and the business dealings of individual stations and Nexstar/Tegna/Sinclair as an *excuse*, but that wasn't Carr's motivation. His true motivation is his fanatical ideology. And, case in point, someone tweeted that this was all about Project 2025, and BrendonCarr of the FCC replied with a gif of nodding grinning Jack Nicholson. https://x.com/BrendanCarrFCC/status/1968521297974923696
