  1. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Article from ctv.ca (a television network in Canada) Experts observe that police response to Trump rioters and BLM protesters was different as night and day. https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/police-response-to-trump-rioters-and-blm-night-and-day-experts-1.5256386 ----------------------------------------------------------------- ^ New live press conference with Mayor of Washington DC, police officials, etc
  2. Matt Gaetz rambling in the House a bunch of crap that the mob assaulting the Capitol today were antifa.
  3. So they are still debating the Arizona objections in the House. After the House finishes that and votes on that, then both Senate and House will convene together. Then they will go to the next state alphabetically and count those votes and vote to certify, one state at a time. If there are other objections to other states, then House and Senate will move to separate rooms to debate and vote on objections to whatever the next State that's being challenged. etc.
  4. Nate Silver said this on the fivethirtyeight.com live blog: Another stating-the-obvious point: Today is going to build a tie in the public’s mind — and in the minds of members of Congress — between trying to delegitimize election results and outright physical violence. And that is likely to raise the stakes for such attempts at delegitimization in the future. That doesn’t mean they won’t happen again; they almost certainly will. But it does mean that it will be harder to get away with “Hey, we’re just asking questions here!” faux-innocent sorts of statements.
  5. Senate doing roll-call vote right now about the objections to the Electoral vote. No = don't support the objections to the Electoral College vote Yes = agree with the objections to the Electoral College vote Oh i guess they're just voting about the objections to Arizona right now
  6. I'm flipping back and forth between watching house and senate. And so are some of the broadcasters. Someone in the House is now making totally false election claims and the broadcaster said we're not gonna show that false stuff and they switched over to the Senate.
  7. The House is live here: https://www.c-span.org/video/?507663-1/house-resumes-certification-electoral-college-vote
  8. What is the reason that the cabinet secretaries and other high-up officials are considering resigning? Is it outrage at Trump? Or are they simply leaving because you need cabinet officials in order to do the 25th? (I don't know. Just wondering)
  9. That @ss-hole just spoke in the Senate chamber a couple minutes ago, saying he supports law and order.
  10. ^ Washington post youtube has been live for many hours today. The are showing the House of Representatives live now. (I know the cover pic and description refers to the mob attack today. But they are currently showing the Senate live.) ------------------------------------------------------------- ^ PBS is now covering the Senate live here
  11. "Apparently it was Pence and not Trump who called for the National Guard in DC" "Yes, reported like 30 times lol" LOL I was just coming here to post that.
  12. Found it!
  13. Thanks! I also saw a tweet showing the votes (in orange containers maybe?) in whatever location they'd been evacuated to.
  14. I thought I saw a tweet showing that all the Electoral College votes had been secured and evacuated with the senators. I can't seem to find it, would someone please repost it.
  15. YES!
  16. What an @ss-hole. he basically tells the terrorists they are right but they have to go home now
  17. Someone on CSPAN, is in the building, he says he heard that the Senate is trying to figure out how to find another room to meet in that would be safe, that the protesters couldn't access, but unsure if they can do this
  18. The tweets sound like the house and senate staffers don't know what to do, where to do, tweeting "Where the F*ck are the Capitol Police?" Basically the Capitol grounds police did not anticipate what might happen and there were not enough on hand. They've called for reinforcements.
  19. Reporter Aaron Rupar of Vox has tirelessly been tweeting all the Trump rallies for months. He has endured through all this crap just to bring everyone the news. I sure hope he gets a decent well-deserved vacation at some point. Unfortunately the racist assholes will continue to have rallies about whatever ... It's sad how much of the population supports that horridness. I don't even know what to say about that. We need to be aware of it, but we don't need to give it energy. So I don't know how much the news media should cover these rallies in the future, and in what way.
  20. In preparation for the demonstrations in Washington DC today ... The Mayor of Washington DC asked for the National Guard to be called up. She had to ask the Pentagon because those are the rules. The city of Washington is not a part of any state, so the mayor has to request the US miltary to give the order to send the National Guard to the city. (In the rest of the USA, each state's governor has the power to call up the National Guard in their state.) The mayor's request was granted... and this is interesting: She doesn't want the military or the National Guard interfering with the protests. Therefore the mayor is *not* asking the National Guard to interfere in the protests. Insted, she's asking the Guard to do non-military tasks such as directing traffic and other normal generic chores that the city police would usually do. This frees up more of the city policemen/policewomen to stop any potential trouble at the protests.
  21. ^ Warner's speech last night. Starts at about 3:29 ^ Ossoff's speech in the wee hours of this morning. Starts at around 3:12
