When Carrie was a child and Sami&Eric were babies or toddlers, Anna had agreed to have Roman&Marlena raise Carrie -- and then Anna left town. Carrie thought of Marlena as a mother figure. DrakeRoman(John) raised Carrie, too, while Marlena was kidnapped/dead/etc. At least the John/Carrie bond is acknowledged -- John always seems like her father (and not JoshTaylorRoman). I loved the John/Carrie scenes in Beyond Salem One. John still calls Carrie "Pumpkin". They currently have Eric living upstairs above the pub - down the hall from Josh Taylor's Roman. Sometimes Eric interacts with Roman downstairs in the pub. I think the show is trying to *imply* that there is an Eric/Roman bond, but some of us viewers just don't see it -- I think Roman/Eric don't seem that close due to Josh Taylor being rather dull as Roman. Yes that would be interesting to learn.

Eric was raised by John (when John was believed to be Roman). And and a little bit by Marlena's parents in Colorado). But mostly by RoJohn(Drake). There were all those periods when either WayneNorthrupRoman or Marlena were presumed dead. The same is true for Sami, except that she left Colorado early and came to Salem as a teen, while Eric remained in Colorado until adulthood. Eric should be closest to John, but they don't write him that way. Sami should *also* be closest to John but she got fixated on the John/Marlena affair she witnessed when she was a teen. I agree that the show has rarely (if ever) written any twin bond between Eric and Sami. They currently have Eric living upstairs above the pub - down the hall from Roman. Meanwhile Brady is living in the John&Marlena's place that apparently has a zillion bedrooms. Belle and Shawn live in Bo&Hope's house.

I meant to put a comment under the pics but I guess I didn't. It's just interesting to see the stills/screencaps. In his youth, GV was a model, and he seems to still know how to pose. But that's how it looks when you freeze the frame and there is no sound - I don't think he intended it that way, LOL. He can't help being gorgeous in the stills. But I realize he was acting the role of a hungover angry man. And when I watch the episodes this week I see someone who is just angry and spiteful, which I hadn't expected from Eric. I found it sad to watch, but GV said an interview that he wanted that type of challenge.

I haven't been able to watch or read recaps, I've been really busy. Has the current Jeff interacted with Monica at all? The characters were married once. It was a really big storyline, Monica married to Jeff but she was also involved with his brother Rick. I remember watching that live. I mean, if they're going to have dialog about Jeff's commitment issues, shouldn't Monica come up in the conversation somewhere? In that case it was Monica's commitment issues but ... that could have affected Jeff's future interactions.
