ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Last year, there was a new nighttime soap on ABC, which got cancelled partway through its first season, and the first season finished up only on Hulu. It was not renewed after that. "The Promised Land", about a Mexican-American family who owns a California vineyard and winery. New series on Freeform "The Watchful Eye" debuts Jan. 30, 2023. It stars Mariel Molino (Carmen Sandoval from "The Promised Land") and Henry Joseph Samiri (Douglas Forrester from B&B). (Remember Henry took some time off from B&B in summer 2022 and Douglas was temporarily recast. That was when Henry was in Canada filming The Watchful Eye). Picture and biography of Mariel Molino from ABC's page for The Promised Land: https://web.archive.org/web/20220806023416/https://abc.com/shows/promised-land/cast/mariel-molino Blurb and trailer for The Watchful Eye: https://deadline.com/2023/01/the-watchful-eye-freeform-series-trailer-1235219269/

Days: January 2023 Discussion Thread
Tues. Jan 17, the episode seems to be 45 minutes long from the Peacock menu and it is but .. there's a seven-minute sequence of a bunch of short scenes that is repeated partway through, and then the episode finally continues. So you're not crazy if you are watching a few scenes and think "Didn't I just watch this?" So it's really only about 38 minutes of new material.

Y&R: Old Articles
Chance mentioned Ryan on Dec. 13, 2022 Context: Chance was talking to Sharon about how he was worrying about how his divorce from Abby would impact Dominic. He mentions that he read somewhere that early childhood trauma can impact the rest of your life. Chance: You know, I spent my entire childhood believing my dad was dead. And even though I had the best mom in the world and I had a great stepdad in Ryan… I still felt that loss. Sharon: And then you lost Ryan, too. https://www.tvmeg.com/index.php/2022/12/13/yr-transcript-tuesday-12-13-22/

RIP: In Memoriam Thread
https://www.instagram.com/p/CnXOGDopTQM/ January 13, 2023 iamdavidkessler Verified I’ve been so fortunate to have Lisa Marie as a friend. Her bold, authentic personality made her a loyal daughter and devoted mother. The loss of her son inspired her to work toward becoming an advocate for those who are struggling with the heartbreak of grief. I met Lisa Marie after her son Ben died. She wanted to talk to me, not because I was a grief expert, but because I was someone who also had a child die. It became an improbable friendship but that is how grief works. Last weekend, she asked me to go with her to Memphis for her father’s 88th birthday celebration. She had countless invites for the weekend, but for her, there were only three important ones: being at her father’s birthday celebration, spending time at her son and father’s grave after the tours left Graceland, and meeting with a recently bereaved mother. I watched how Lisa Marie tenderly talked to this heartbroken mother about what to expect in grief. That's what interested her most these days, helping others in grief. She had her challenges but always faced them. She was in my grief educator program and many who met her and chatted with her had no idea who she was. To them, she was a mother, whose son had died and wanted to turn her pain into purpose. She co-led grief groups with me for the past two years at her home for other bereaved parents. We were planning on doing a podcast about grief together. Her family, love for music, maintaining her father's legacy, and helping others became her priorities. Last weekend was so much fun and she was optimistic. Graceland was her happy place and the employees who all knew her shared that she was looking so much better. She looked more at peace and was so proud of the Elvis movie. Saturday night we sat at the graves of her father and son. We talked about the heartbreak she grew up with and the more recent devastation of her son’s death. She showed me where she would be buried someday. I said a long time from now …and she said yes,I have so much to do. Rest in peace with your father and son, Lisa Marie. pic taken of us last weekend at Graceland #lisamariepresley #lmp #elvismovie #graceland ________________ info on David Kessler https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Kessler_(writer)

DAYS Actress status change?
I love Allie and I think Lindsay Arnold is a good actress. I don't want her to go.
-
DAYS Actress status change?
Okay but the credits for individual actors were based on their status at the time the episodes were taped, right? Lindsay's contract status in summer 2022 wouldn't relate to whether or not DAYS is renewed in 2023. I'm curious if all the actors' contract statuses would have changes or adjustments when they changed from taping episodes planned for daytime broadcast to taping episodes planned for streaming.

The Politics Thread
Quoting the above debt-ceiling article: Brian Riedl, a policy analyst at the Manhattan Institute, studied prioritization plans at length while he was a staffer in the offices of then-Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio). Riedl said such a plan would involve lopping off about 20 percent of federal spending immediately, or about $1 trillion, because revenue covers only roughly 80 percent of the $5 trillion the government spends each year. Huge numbers of people could be hurt immediately, he said, with no good way to pick between options such as forcing hospitals to deal with the cessation of Medicare payments or depriving the Defense Department of funding. End article quote. --- My reply to that is ... you could tax the rich! The idea of stopping the increase of the national debt is a *THEORETICALLY* good idea, if the politicians actually cared about people. It used to be that the only good idea (in theory) about fiscally conservative politicians, is that they didn't want to saddle future generations with debt. But that was long ago (if it ever was true). Right now, there won't be Medicare or social services for those who are currently in their teens/twenties/thirties. It won't exist. No budget for it. And no budget to fix climate collapse, which ironically will lead to planetary economic collapse. Our youth will suffer. But the Republicans just don't want to tax corporations and themselves. So they want to cut that which is needed.

Days: January 2023 Discussion Thread
Someone tweeted that nobody else submitted. Jamey replied that's not true. Errol didn't say Days was the only soap that submitted. Errol said Days was the only soap that was nominated. https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/62177-article-‘days-of-our-lives’-de-facto-winner-of-2023-writers-guild-award-for-daytime-drama/#comment-1831975 I think they are saying the same thing -more than one soap submitted, but only Days was nominated.

Roman sincerely believes Kate's ashes are in the urn. Don't know if it's empty or if it contains someone else's ashes. Or if there is some supernatural thing coming ahead that brings everyone back to life (which was *maybe* hinted at in the Day of Days winter promo). Who knows. Ah yeah another possibility. Who knows LOL
