She can still act (and proved it when she came back after Lee's death) but I sadly just don't see it happening. She seems committed to the service. GH missed their chance. I'd recast and bring both her and in-limbo Christina (by a new name) back. I also really like Brook Kerr as Portia and always have, especially at the hospital but the show clearly hates her and is tripling down on making her unbearable. Which is ridiculous since she is the best actor in that set of characters. She should be a growing tentpole there and instead she's being assassinated.

KT has never been good at playing vulnerability for long. I've been saying it since 2013. If you try to let her play conventional drama she gets lost, vague/weak and is shallow and boring to watch. Her luckiest break was having major sexual heat with Steve a few years ago, and tbqh I think Steve had something to prove at the time given the stunningly rapid end of Jason and Sam. It's insulting to me that people would think this in any way compares to Carly or Brenda or whoever else and their self-destructive behaviors. Britt has never had a fraction of that writing, those layers or those performances. That's why she's having such a rough ride with the audience, in addition to the show's Rocco angle being stunningly tone-deaf and unpopular. Like, it's starting to give Natalia a bit.

I think there may have been a deb or cotillion reference re: Chelsea or Kat early in the run, but I may be imagining things. I agree there should be more. There's certainly enough key Black creatives in charge, from MVJ to Sheila Ducksworth to most of the dialogue staff.

I don't expect them to blame a chip in her brain or anything sci-fi unless it gets really rough and she starts circling the Natalia drain lol. Which her reentry occasionally reminds me of atm! But I do think some of her behavior re: Rocco, Jason, etc. is being presented onscreen as her 'having defensive walls up' or 'trying to protect them' from her evil employer, so she acts out. What's funny is her sweaty, clearly unsettled fans on social media trying to put all this over as something we should all embrace, when both Kelly and the writing team have never been nearly good enough to rise above this kind of nastiness and make it nuanced enough to work. We're not exactly dealing with Sarah Brown here, and I both hated Sarah's Carly and was fascinated by her in equal measure in the late '90s.

Like I said the other day: By the time they dig into the plot-driven reasons for some (not all) of her doubling down it won't matter to the audience. The Rocco thing they've tried to whitewash is a poisoned chalice in and of itself as well. It doesn't surprise me they overreached, it just surprises me how extreme it's been so quick. Someone in-house (probably CVE based on the vibe I've gotten over the years, but who knows) thinks Britt actually is the fierce gay icon they tried to sweatily reverse-engineer her into, and that all of this is a winning formula. It's not, and the limits of what KT can lift as an actress and screen personality are always apparent when they give her too much.

The irony lies in Monty apparently thinking Eastenders from the UK was the wave of the future, and modeling the working-class Eckert influx around that. She wasn't really wrong about EE, but her approach and execution were way off.

I've never heard any GH fans, etc. discuss them in terms of that. The only time it's come up that I know of (including with DAYS) is in regards to backstage stuff like renewals, the length of a current renewal, etc. which is normal. I think some recent fans try to fit daytime into the box of normal streaming TV and it's just not going to happen lol. I am not opposed to future soaps having seasons or seasonal arcs, like PC - I think it may be the only way forward long-term - but as for our current daytime soaps, they do not function like that narratively or as an overall viewing experience.

I'm not going to start referring to a daytime soap opera in seasons lol. Idk why there's this push for that online all of a sudden. I'm aware they exist in terms of BTS planning but in terms of how we perceive and view them there is none with the current soaps.

She appeared as a child briefly in the occasional crossover. As for since then she's been mentioned exactly once in the last 15 years, I think. AFAIC she's still canon, but they tread very lightly around anything from PC these days if at all given the debacle of the story Carlivati did in 2013. It's all very ambiguous these days, but several characters from PC also remain canon to GH (as does Karen's fate) so she counts IMO. I would not fully dive back into the mess of what is or is not canon from PC, but I would bring back some elements (like Christina/new name TBD and acknowledging Livvie's place in Kevin's life) and largely avoid the rest. Probably after one brief tossed-off rambling monologue by Lucy rationalizing the magic spell (from PC) she thinks is responsible, to which Kevin can cock an eyebrow at her and then say 'sure, Lucy.' End of discussion! I also might want to bring Kimberlin Brown back as Rachel Locke someday, but I digress.

I liked Karen a lot on PC but the original character just always seems to have been shoehorned to me. They needed a heroic young girl to try to build a youth set after the dire death of Monty II and they brought her in, and got lucky with her and Antonio Sabato in a moment when they really needed a little heat while Riche tried to reconceive the larger show. Then they made her Scott's kid literally on her way out the door while Kin was already gone (truly a bizarre move). That link paid off on PC, but never on GH itself. Karen to me was a precursor to young leads that really connected to the core and had staying power - Brenda, Robin, even Carly and Elizabeth, etc. So at this point I just see no purpose, especially when Serena (and the oft-forgotten Christina, no relation to Kristina) are alive and well to use. Both of whom I'd bring on, to shore up Lucy at least as much as Scott. (I'd eventually reincorporate the presumably-deceased Livvie Locke via a child of hers to shore up Kevin, but that is a whole other story. I would probably not bring Livvie back or Kelly Monaco.) Duhon allegedly had real issues with his female leading ladies that pretty much tanked his promising run. I don't recall if there was a drug component as well. It was a waste because it was a good character and a talented actor.

I was honestly amazed Lee (let alone Gail) got significant tributes, which both did on the show. They even brought back Serena so she, Lucy and Scott could honor Lee, and Gail got that whole goofy treasure hunt episode. Were those perfect, no, but they were very respectful, significant tributes.

Some scheming redneck cousin of Tony and Frisco's might be fun, lol. I thought the brief mention of Jessie onscreen during the 30th was very respectful. They should've done more, as all they did other than that was Beradino addressing her death at the end of an episode. The problem was not doing a proper tribute.

I love Brad Maule and Tony, especially when rewatching classic era stuff of late, but his death is pretty iconic and he did a wonderful ghost appearance a few years ago. I would use his ghost again but I think the ship has sailed for him randomly coming back from the dead. Karen also is just not integral to me, and Josh Duhon/Logan, while talented and a good character, was radioactive BTS. I have enough Qs, etc. I actually would bring back from the dead (A.J., Justus, eventually Emily) to not consider more lol. And yes, I would bring on Serena and Tom Jr./Thomas.

I think some of the Malone-era comedy is great and some less so. It varies.

@marceline's comment the other day made me wish Kamar de los Reyes was alive. Yes, he deserved better than daytime and was doing quite well outside of it before he passed away but imagining him as the patriarch of a Latino family here, with a recast Tomas as his son, would've been a dream once upon a time.

Again, I think they want us to feel Britt is deliberately amping up her bad behavior today to push Rocco away and keep him 'safe' from her employer/captor. But it doesn't really matter IMO. The groundwork was lain weeks ago to paper over what she did and pretend her relationship with Rocco was something else, and the general audience reacted very poorly. Britt is not popular or multifaceted enough and KT is not versatile enough to sell this 'layered' behavior. It's just going to turn more people off.

Finally! Movement! I am absolutely here for a drunken Vegas wedding and seeing Andre and Dani actually crash out together in the last few days and Andre begin to behave vaguely like his supposed image has been refreshing. Keep it coming.

I think it's just a lot of development hell. And maybe the recent strikes. It took something like Alien: Earth on FX maybe 1-2 extra years to finish filming due to all of that. I will say though (again) that I find the silence on them recently, and ABC suddenly moving GH's timeslot back to its old one... a little suspicious.

For me personally, at least up to Season 7 (where I left off) I felt KL still was balancing the big business stuff with the domestic/suburban roots well. It works because they spent so much time in the first few seasons building that world and those relationships, and they lean so heavily on them even while all the women in the cul-de-sac are evolving and taking on careers outside of the home and their husbands or exes. And ultimately interaction and connectivity still shows up there, in the neighborhood and in people's homes as well as the office or other domiciles. I talked a year or two ago about how surreal it was seeing Laura, Abby and grown-up Eric all working at Lotus Point in suits, etc. but how it also felt organic to the past, because we knew those people, those relationships and how they'd gotten there. That's still where it stands for me atm. The addiction story is a little sudden but I also think it was incredible work, both for Lee and from the writers in how they depicted the marital fallout for both Karen and Mack. And yes, it was a mistake not bringing back Annie (recast, obviously).

Granted I don't watch a ton of network primetime these days, but I have never seen a ton of imaginary brands or search engines on primetime. Certainly nothing as egregious or cartoonish as GH's. I'm pretty sure the folks on Abbott Elementary, etc. are regularly shown using real social media and Google.

Or we just disagree with you about what late night has been forced to do for over a decade. Even before Trump. It began with The Daily Show in the 2000s and everyone began following the lead. Even before that Leno was making Monica Lewinsky jokes for way too long. You may not like him, but Kimmel is popular and has been for a long time. If he wasn't there would not have been a huge normie audience backlash/boycott, and Disney would not have panicked.

It's been especially embarrassing ever since Prospect Park was able to use real brands onscreen (ofc they were also so overbudget they could never give the cast like Erika Slezak their last paychecks lol), and now BTG of course. Using "SpyderFinder" and MyFace in 2025? Come on, ABC. I do find it ridiculous that Gio, Emma, Cody, etc. are all preoccupied with catching a dog vs. bigger story. Even if I do love Outback. I'd much rather watch them all in real material vs. the Clan Obrecht/Faison or more of Joss and her latest doomed piece (whose winged retro coiff increasingly resembles a bygone 80s adult film star - Dennis Parker, we shall always remember you).
