Blake Hounshell is Politico through and through. Their alumni are largely reared by conservative groups/clubs from school to career and most of their contacts are the 'sane, sober fiscal conservative' GOP. The reason they carry water for the GOP at all times and try to act like another version of the party exists is because, as has been enumerated by other critics in the past, the Beltway pundits prefer to believe the supposedly 'sensible' Republicans they know in DC as friends and colleagues are the real base of the party vs. the racist, deranged base that actually exists and holds majority office today.

I think the photoshoot homage was a good idea. I think her expression is goofy and not working for the intent, even in camp/parody.

I said it earlier, but Elizabeth Dennehy doesn't get enough credit for originating the character in the arch, semi-dark sort of Glenn Close Fatal Attraction mold. She's great in the stuff I've seen, albeit very different from Sherry.

This will keep happening in tight races (which this was not). It happened in GA and it will happen again.

Kasie Hunt has been rationed into oblivion in record time. She's had such a far fall so quickly.

Having watched a fair bit of that time I think people give Elizabeth Dennehy's Blake too much criticism around here just because most of us adore Stringfield's. Dennehy wasn't as conventionally beautiful as Sherry, but she had a very arch, dark strength and also physically resembled Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. Blake was a very distinct character with both Dennehy and Stringfield in the role but became nothing almost as soon as they recast with Liz Keifer, IMO.

I think both SSH and Robin came back to their respective shows feeling pressured to compete with either the tone of the show (Hayes) or in Robin's case, the network expectations. I've said for a long time that I think being cut by JFP traumatized Robin and that she came back determined never to be made to leave the show she loved again, and that she'd prove her worth by going hard and going big every single day so the brass would notice her effort. She did good work after returning in 2003, but she too often had about two speeds and rarely calmed down or went quiet. I'll always love Robin, but it hurt her performance.

It should be someone else or multiple people. It should not be Marlena again, but probably will be.

There was never any character to Jordan to speak of beyond 'Black female we hired for C-plotline who appears in cop scenes.' I can't blame either for leaving.

This happens every time a Dem wins by a considerable margin - Obama both times, Biden (in the final analysis) last year. The media always says a Republican has a mandate when they win, but when Dems do it it's 'can they heal the country? this isn't a mandate!' And they're proven wrong each time.
