She was asked, so she responded in a very brief way. I can't fault her for that.

The Politics Thread
I'd like @marceline's take on something, so I am doing the appropriate rites to summon her: I've heard some people's take that if/when Roe falls, everything else in the midterms won't matter and it will galvanize the vote against the GOP. I have serious doubts about that myself, but I wanted her fairly steadfast POV.

And here we go...Y&R Promo for 4/11/22
In fairness, what has she actually done that is Sheila-level this round so far? All I see are these somewhat OTT promos and onscreen, Diane is just making some sneaky moves.

LMAO! It's been a long day.

GH: New Character on Contract?
Ali clearly has chemistry with Chavez, so I think if they do that then it's what they wanted to do all along. FV tends to keep notably non-white POC off to the side on his shows as supporting players. It's not as though they hadn't already kept Spencer and Trina's storyline on the looooong slow burn for almost a year until the recast despite a vociferous fanbase - none of this started with Ali and the recast. Trina has been marginalized for a long time. To me it reads that the show realized what they had in NC and fan response to him, and questioned whether they wanted to 'stick him' with a Black female. This happens all the time in the racist daytime soaps. I think it's too soon to know, though. This may be just another romantic obstacle for the pairing that they are taking very slowly and cautiously, in part, again, due to institutional racism in the industry re: interracial stories, and due to fear of bigoted fans. Or it may be the beginning of a pivot. There's no way to tell yet. But if it happens it can't be blamed on the recast, who is IMO at the very least technically superior to Mikayla already.

I knew Julianne would do something, I'm glad it's up.

I don't think it's derailing to discuss the rift when Liza has made it a matter of public record re: their family and her father's death. What I objected to was gossip early about how Susan was supposedly a bitch BTS at AMC (something never really substantiated in 40+ years) in the thread about her husband's passing. Others have mentioned it, but Susan and Liza were clearly working together closely re: Liza's son's illness as recently as 2016. It's just a shame things have gone back and forth for them.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
I'm thinking of the old Llanfair set specifically, I think. Or maybe it was the only set, I have no idea. I would never have recognized it in its modern form following the '80s, but in material from the '70s and early-mid '80s it definitely looks like the Old House.

I blame Frons, but we blamed Frons for everything back then. Of course, usually it was true! I would assume they get along. I've never heard otherwise, but who knows. If Jack and Kristina can be genial, anything is possible. Speaking of the past, some Wiki stuff lists Finola as coming back for one day - 2/25/1992 - after Monty recast the part for Anna's last month and cut her loose at the end of '91. Does anyone know if this is accurate? Did Finola appear once more after the brief month-long recast with Camilla More? That episode appears to be one of the few missing from the period on YT.

I always suspected Olivia was a course correct by Guza or the show. Yes, the Dante story had been percolating and in development for a long, long time - I remember talk of it long before they began casting or referencing it onscreen - but I got the sense someone didn't like Megan Ward/Kate, either some PTB or the network, and suddenly Olivia comes in, begins riding Kate left and right about her life choices and mistakes, Kate's role is slowly phased off the frontburner, and Olivia becomes far more central. I saw it coming miles off. I assumed Guza was all in on Sonny and Kate so maybe it wasn't him pushing it, but he fell out of love with beloved favorites often - Alexis, Nikolas, Jax - so it's not impossible he turned on the character or actress. I forgave it because I've loved LLC since Loving and The City, and I am very fond of Olivia, annoying behaviors and all. But again, she could leave Ned for Johnny, have Lisa come back as Lois with different hair, and I wouldn't care lol.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
Really? That's wild. But we don't know about the foyer? Also, do you happen to know which OLTL set got the Collinwood drawing room? I often wonder if one of the '70s-'80s sets i've seen is part of the Old House from DS.

I could've sworn they were close in the 2000s. It's very sad.

ATWT LEGEND KATHRYN HAYS PASSES AWAY
When some of the OLTL, AMC, etc. people go I am going to lose it, no question. I don't even want to think about it.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
Is it just me, or is the "Mansion of the Damned" main foyer soundstage the Collinwood foyer from Dark Shadows (also on ABC)? If it's not it's close. This show is honestly the perfect melding of conventional soap storytelling with genre elements that DS never mastered, and it could've, had it tried to adapt to the times and had Dan Curtis been more of a soap EP vs. a classic Hollywood impresario.
