GH: Classic Thread
I've watched some of it. The lowdown from the SOD write-up is harrowing. I am glad he seems to be getting well and is being very honest about what has been out there in the rumor mill for several years now. I'd welcome him back if it was ever healthy for him to return to GH - Coloma is a serviceable replacement, but he can't measure up.

Is it really a small town? It's called Genoa City.

RIP Helmut Huber
Almost everyone who's ever worked with Lucci has nothing but good things to say about her, so we can put this aside in the thread about her husband's death.

I think it's realistic to tell tech stories in this day and age for at least part of the business material on the show. I also think it's clear the Y&R writers have no concept of how to write about it or present it in a serious or compelling way, especially when many of the white-collar lunatics in our world today are in fact tech moguls and this stuff is ripe for use. They keep hearing viewers want business stories, but they don't really know how or want to tell those stories so a lot of this stuff largely feels like feints.

Apparently Scorpio, of all people, is now DA. Robert Scorpio. This is goofy shīt of the lowest order. Robert should not have a law degree. Robert should be Commissioner again or still WSB - period.

I think some stories and characters at least have the sparks of some life to them, unlike most of Y&R. I wouldn't be watching atm at all if I didn't see some things I liked, unlike most of the last six years. I think the writers in place aren't terrible at times, and would like to do more. I think they're actively kept down by both FV's priorities and the network. There's a lot of potential, but so much of it is stifled by the same middle of the road monotony as Y&R - and Frank's own preferences.

I think making the first younger Asian-American female lead this show has ever had(?) a schemer against the whites would be a bad look. She should be given the same heroine push as her white peers. But yes, Keemo should turn up alive. And other siblings.

Carly and Sam, I understood them finding common cause when Sam first lost Jason. She was a single mother who'd lost her husband to the mob and was trying to break from that life; she finally had some reason to identify to who Carly was at that time, in the early 2010s. But becoming super friendly, never. And any time Sam and Liz try it out, Jason or Drew comes between them. Yes, they all have to coexist because of the children/families in the mix, and Sam and Carly can have an uneasy friendliness or cordiality, but that should be it. Ava has been Nina's obsession for years going back to the 1990s when she stole her husband. Nina awoke with a deranged lust for vengeance and went so far as to violate her and attempt to steal her baby in a series of pretty grueling scenes when Ava first gave birth to Avery. I just can't buy that Ava would ever let that woman near her again.

There is No Way Social Justice Tot Molly from the late 2000s-early 2010s would a) go to work for the DA's office or b) try to push a bum deal on Trina, lol.

I think this is tomorrow's show, so April? The Diane explanation: Given the circumstances it's probably about as good as they could do. I assume they'll deal with the part where she tussled with Nikki eventually.

They've been pushing Sam, Carly, Liz and now Nina and Ava as friendly or at least comfortable with each other for a long time now and I'm over all of it.

Chad being willing to get butt-ass naked in bed with Leo is just Ron and the gang stroking it tbh. It's ridiculous and tacky, and Ron's been doing it for years. I don't mind that RC has cultivated a rep for objectifying and sexualizing the str8 men of his soaps. That's what they're often there for, for both female and male audiences. I mind when they're reduced to eye candy or fetish objects while being dumbed down to idiocy, and I mind when the actual LGBT characters who could be equally sexualized leads are turned into camp events or relative bystanders who, it's implied, are lasciviously eyeing or preying upon the sr8 leads.

Again, the idea that they won't bring back Keemo because PB vetoes it doesn't have much proof. He complains a lot but I don't believe he can or would veto that. I think only Braeden has that power or wields it.- Josh Griffith interview from SOD: a whole new YR
Adam is also kind of ancillary now. Not as much as, you know, Nick, but what tremendous story has Adam driven since his latest return? I'll wait. Grossman is well cast for Adam's actual age, but a lot of characters are only still around because Y&R and Sony/CBS feel they must 'always' be around. If they thinned the herd maybe he wouldn't feel like an extra piece atm.- Y&R April 2022 Discussion Thread
