    Wow. What a find.
  2. The double-down:
  3. A lot of key NYT contributors are pushing back on the Times editorial page's persistent trans-critique coverage designed to launder right-wing views.
  4. It's a weird progressive puritanism at times too, a counterpoint both to the Bush-era culture shock post-Super Bowl in the 2000s and to the same right-wing hyper-puritanism over anything LGBT that is currently a major threat today. It seems there's a double standard too IMO: If it's content progressive viewers want to consume of their favorites nude or simulating sex onscreen in products they enjoy then it's all fun and games. If they don't like it then it's violence or too exploitative. Two sides of the same hypocritical coin.
  5. This is it. Eric and Nicole in their original iteration sucked, but the older and wiser version has always had appeal for me. It's the show and the writing that ruins those promising opportunities or runs them into the ground (as Nicole has been once again, not for her first time).
  6. True, but Susan is one of a kind and hit with a cultural impact far different vs. Reinholt or Gerald Gordon (did anything come of GR's deal or did he nuke himself too fast?).
  7. LOL they're brazen to put 'The Ashfords' on that drum set at Curtis and Portia's wedding. Didn't this whole town just attend the last matrimonial debut of 'The Ashfords' a couple years ago too? Same drums?
  8. Shades of what's happened with soaps tbh, in terms of conservative regression re: content and stories (albeit for different reasons). Darn and I were just talking the other day about how CBS (of all networks) in the early 2000s flirted with skirting the edge towards softcore on daytime, pre-Super Bowl. And then there's the Cat Hickland/Ty Treadway scene on OLTL. These kids couldn't handle Adrien Lyne's movies, or Verhoeven.
  9. Is Cyrus still a going concern on this show? Come on, GH.
  10. Thanks for the HQ. The Powerpoint opening is shameful. They should just cut 10 needless people and redo FOTH. But they won't. It has never been matched and tbh you probably don't need to update the theme much. No little Leo is an oversight, he's been so present. Same with Jake who is rarely seen but so good, but oh well. I'd rather see them vs. annoying Charlotte? Violet? or Michael's creepy kid.
  11. It would be nice to find a HQ version. I can't seem to find one at the link.
  12. It almost always is.
  13. Supposedly she had an accident last spring(?), was recovering and eager to go back to work and then we heard nothing. I'm very concerned about Leslie and I doubt I'm the only one. Nice to see Jane Elliot back next to Wally in the official photo as she is apparently back long-term. I'm not going to get into my spiel again but I somehow doubt the most popular young couple on the show being in a corner behind third-tier player (I love Brook Kerr but she is) Portia is deliberate.
  14. I am aware lol, that's why I said recast. Gia the character at least was Afro-Latino and it was heavily implied she could be Sonny's sister BITD. I still miss Lynne Moody as Florence.
  15. I'm glad it's happening, and also glad for a great deal of her work.
  16. I have no idea but neither, definitely not Mosley. I remember some of that, yeah. I know they're still claiming Gia is a lawyer today but I'd bring back the model/fashion angle somehow lol. Did Marisa play the break-up or did Andrea Pearson? I'm pretty sure it was the latter.
  17. Gia should be back (presumably recast lol), but that's a whole other topic. For the life of me I do not remember how or why Nik and Gia broke up.
  18. I've seen some of Gordon on TD and a fair bit of him on GH and I've never seen or read anything of his GH stint that suggests they ever had a substantive plan for the character beyond 'hire rival network soap star'. This business doesn't change that much.
  19. I've said it many times, but I started looking in on GL for rubberneck value: Cynthia Watros as Annie, the clone and later several of my beloved OLTL alumni who moved to the show for the San Cristobel story (Chappell, Thom Christopher). The insanely overly-lit sets, OTT performances, peroxide blonde stylings and general air of sheer tackiness turned me right off, but the biggest issue was San Cristobel. I did not understand how or why so much of a supposedly down to earth show centered around a clearly fake and silly fairy tale island kingdom, and I've made it clear how ludicrous I felt the aging Reva being presented as the unattainable sex goddess of the show was during this. It's as ridiculous a story now as it was then.
  20. It is tomfoolery of the highest order to pretend Luke and Laura and their saga was not the central draw for GH in that era. Yes, Scott, Laura, the David Hamilton mystery and the Alan/Monica/Rick/Lesley quad started the job. L&L finished it. I have plenty of strong opinions about Tony Geary's attitude or the rape of Laura. Doesn't mean I am going to pretend Luke was an afterthought lol. People acting like she is some capable actress desperately in need of more story are embarrassing themselves. Just hire better people of color!
  21. Cannot believe it's taken me this long to realize Liz and the boys live in THEE Brownstone, dating back to the '80s and '90s. I remember Ron and Frank tried to bring it back in the mid-2010s by having Michael turn it into new housing where Morgan and Kiki briefly lived, but the set was unrecognizable and looked like a Lego playset. Then it vanished for years, I guess until Liz and Franco moved in. it still doesn't look much like the original to me (I think the kitchenette and stairs are sort of where they should be from semi-recent iterations) but I'm glad it's back. I remember when Gregory Harrison was supposed to be a sex god 30-35 years ago. I remember hearing about how he dominated Falcon Crest near the end too. He's an attractive man for his age but it must be said he also, in profile, looks like George Washington. They need to bring on a woman or a scandalously young dude for Alexis though, bc these two are like watching paint dry together.
  22. I like Heinle's delivery on '...again' lol. Like even Victoria's not buying this story for the umpteenth time.
  23. This relates to the Moonves/CBS revelations about Janet in this thread a few years ago, so it might as well go here. Grain of salt given the source, but:
