  1. I think John has finally woken up to the fact that Liz will never wake up!! I like how he said he won't stick his neck out for her anymore. Of course, he has Bonnie now - who genuinely cares about him for him!!
  2. Thank you. Ironically, both Susan Diol and John Loprieno would later guest-star (though in separate episodes) of the all-too short-lived CBS period drama, Christy. One of its writers/producers was Pam Long, who of course would write for OLTL a few years later.
  3. What year was that again? 1993? 1994? I know Susan Diol's Angela fit in that story somewhere.
  4. I looked around the web myself and couldn't find any info, either.
  5. Steve and Liz, you two are absolute crumbums!!! Especially you, Dr. Horndog. As for Liz, Carolee opened up her home (twice!) and heart to you and this is how you repay her? Thank goodness Dr. Rice witnessed both of Steve's exploits in today's first episode - and good for what he said to Liz. I have a feeling he'll give it to Steve much worse later on. How sweet was the scene with John and Bonnie at Polly's apartment, acting out scenes with her old scripts and props? When John wore that huge blue feather boa, he looked like Cookie Monster. LOL How about what Polly wrote in that letter she gave Bonnie shortly before passing away? Not only was she encouraging two people she loved very much to enjoy life, but she knew she was playing Cupid as well. It was sweet to hear her in voiceover as John and Bonnie read the letter. Since I suck at math, I have a question. What would $5000 in 1968 be worth today with inflation? As for the second episode, how nice is it to see Ruth and Danny so happy together now that the adoption is official? They are quite a pair! On a more solemn note, poor Maggie is going to have it even worse in light of the news she'll get AFTER giving Karen the ultimatum. I have a feeling we are going to have a BIG powwow coming up with the Drs. Powers.
  6. Suzanne said in some interview I read years ago that in hindsight, she felt that Sam Groom didn't really want a wife - he wanted a mother for his children. Sorry it didn't work out for them - she looks so happy in those pictures.
  7. Yeah, I also read that on TD thread. I think what happened in 1968 is that Bethel became ill (with measles) and the show had to temporarily recast her with Kathleen Murray. Then Bethel came back for a little while and then left again, this time to film a movie in California, thus leading to Lydia Bruce stepping in - for good.
  8. Love the magazine cover of the Matheson family. That's their little girl, Michele, who carved out a memorable acting career of her own. She played Angela, the ditzy best friend of the Owens daughter on Mr. Belvedere, the one who always screwed up his name (calling him Mr. Beetlejuice, Mr. Butterfinger, Mr. Butterworth, etc.), and appeared in a more dramatic role as the snobby rich girl who was the arch enemy of Kellie Martin's Becca on the first season of Life Goes On. That is a fascinating story of how Kristina came to be on GH. Without the show, she wouldn't have had her two sons (and both of those pregnancies were written into the show but Felicia had two daughters instead).
  9. Thank you!! I guess the chemistry between Andrea Evans and John Loprieno was just so memorable that whenever Tina and Cord come to mind, she's the Tina that immediately comes to mind.
  10. Yes, she did a very good job. Try to catch "In Memory Of" - she is absolutely heartbreaking, and it is a riveting case. From Ben Stone's protectiveness of her on the witness stand to the support she gets from Dr. Olivet, she doesn't let her fear keep her from helping them nail the bad guy. Of course, the AW alum with the most appearances on the L&O shows has to be Stephen Schnetzer. Once I watched a CI marathon on the CLOO network, and he was on at least two of the episodes they played. LOL
  11. The winner of the Clean Mouth Award!!!
  12. I love that little bit about James Pritchett being eager to try out his new grill. He already had such an Everyman quality as Matt, and apparently he was just a regular family man away from the studio and the craziness of NYC.
  13. Karen Witter never did another soap, did she? She certainly had big shoes to fill but I think she did a good job. How would you all rate the Tina replacements' chemistry with John Loprieno's Cord?
  14. Carl, Jeff Yagher is also a sculptor in addition to being an actor - and works on model kits of old movies (like The Fly, Nosferatu, etc.) - and my friend Gary is an artist who designs the cover box art for the models that Jeff sculpts. Gary didn't even know that Jeff had been replaced by Johnny Depp on 21JS until I told him. Now, he regularly teases Jeff about it - all in good fun.
  15. She was in two episodes of L&O. Her first appearance was in the Season 2 episode "In Memory Of" (which also featured another AW alum, Tresa Hughes). This was probably the first time the show had dealt with a cold case (this was back when Michael Moriarty, Richard Brooks and Paul Sorvino were still on). Anyway, MJN does an incredible job as a traumatized young woman who finds her inner strength just in time to help the cops crack the case. Her second appearance was in Season 5's "White Rabbit", which was very early in Sam Waterston's long run on L&O (it was only his fifth episode). Her character was based on Katherine Ann Power. (Also appearing in a small but crucial role is OLTL's Marilyn Chris.) Both are very good episodes, so by all means watch them if you haven't already done so.
  16. Carl, thank you for sharing that interview. Jennifer Cooke has a most interesting soap connection to another actress through her work on V. One of her co-stars on that show was Jeff Yagher (who later played the role of Officer Tommy Hanson in the pilot of 21 Jump Street, only to be replaced by an unknown by the name of Johnny Depp!). Jeff Yagher is the brother of Kevin Yagher, who went on to marry Catherine Hicks.
  17. It would have been weird to see Pat with another John!! How do you think she might have worked as a possible spoiler for Donna/Michael?
  18. Last night on The Tonight Show, several members of the band Kool & The Gang sat in with The Roots. One of the K&TG members there was Dennis Thomas, father of the late, great Michelle Thomas (Callie).
  19. Actually, Kathleen Murray's temp run as Dr. Maggie Powers began airing in March of 1968. Does anyone know how long she was on before Bethel Leslie came back (briefly, before the role was permanently recast with Lydia Bruce)?
  20. I know what you mean. I miss Bethel Leslie's fierceness in these scenes, but I don't fault Kathleen Murray at all since she was an emergency temp recast. (I think Bethel had caught the measles and couldn't work at that point.) I wonder if the whole Karen conflict will still be going on when Bethel returns. Also, I hope that we get to see Bill, Ruth and Danny as they adjust to becoming an official family. We all knew how that story was going to turn out, but Bill and Ruth always seemed a bit long in the tooth for me to buy them as parents - even adoptive parents - of a baby. I wonder how much longer they will be on as Bill's sessions with Althea seem to be over and Ruth will most likely give up her job at the hospital to be a full-time mom to Danny. I already like John and Bonnie together, and they are not even a couple (yet). I have a feeling she will be the one to make him forget about one Liz Wilson!!
  21. Thank you. I wonder what Jennifer Cooke is up to these days.
  22. Thank you, Carl. I can imagine her lawyers would have taken him to the cleaners!!
  23. Had Harding Lemay stayed past 1988, I wonder what he would have done. I wonder if he would have been able to work with Jacquie Courtney amicably. I know from reading his book that Beverly Penberthy was one of his favorites.
  24. Vanessa and Nancy were definitely a rare breed - the matriarchs of their shows who had no children of their own (though both had stepchildren). I can't think of any other female character from that era who fits that bill.
  25. Getting back to John and Bonnie, they were the ones who were at Polly's side when she passed on - and the old gal probably had already known they would be a perfect match. I was also glad that Matt had the brilliant idea of escorting the distraught intern into Nathan Bunker's room to witness his miracle. I swear I almost burst into tears watching that scene, and House Jameson's performance was nothing less than perfect. Awe, joy and thankfulness as the different things were happening. Getting back to John Rice, I'm glad Bonnie already knows what a special man he is. Plus, John has already proven that he is a fiercely loyal and honest man with a huge heart - and she was the one to make the first move with the kiss that clearly caught him by surprise. He's not a cad like his cousin Steve!!!
