  1. He was so gleeful yanking her chain - and her slapping him was just about what we've come to expect, isn't it? I wonder where Karen will finally set up residence.
  2. Kevin Stapleton and Nathan Fillion are definitely at the top of my list, though Don Jeffcoat wasn't bad. Haven't seen enough of the others to comment one way or the other.
  3. That was 2006? Has it been that long already?
  4. That's great. It's always nice when a friendship has lasted 30+ years, as theirs has. I also share a birthday with Debbi Morgan, so that's part of the reason I've always had a soft spot for her.
  5. Episode 1 sees the return of the prodigal Dr. Ed Stark - and Matt, Althea and Nick mulling over Mrs. Anderson's case and what to do. I would love to see Nick confront Mr. Anderson. THAT would truly be must-see TV!!! However, episode 2 is absolutely golden when everyone's favorite Sour Kraut learns that someone else is on to her thing for the chief of staff - someone not named Maggie, Nick or Althea. This scene is absolutely priceless - and Karen's reaction is typical. HA!! Also, we got another reference to our "Little Boy Doctor". Per his cousin Steve, John and Bonnie are still having a "wonderful time" in Europe. Yay!!
  6. That was in early 1968.
  7. In hindsight, this little soap never stood a chance. Such a shame, with all the talent involved.
  8. This scene always gets me. Every time. BOTH actresses should have been awarded Emmys. End of story. (6:20 mark)
  9. Glad I'm not the only one who remembers!! I think they did that show in 2002, though it may have been a little later.
  10. No need to be sorry, Carl. I look forward to seeing them when you find them. All My Shadows, the source of Mr. Bunker's anger and bitterness is going to go a long way in learning who he is and what he does. It will mean EVERYTHING. I don't know if either Jim Pritchett or Liz Hubbard ever sang on the show. Did she ever sing on ATWT?
  11. It seems that SB was one of the few exceptions, as it debuted in 1984, got its first nominations in 1986 and then started winning the biggies a couple of years after that - including Best Show three years running. I am surprised, though, that Y&R took so long to get major Emmy attention with someone of Bill Bell's pedigree at the helm.
  12. Yes, he was. He even looked a little like Ted Bundy, years before he became infamous. No wonder she went out on that ledge - so she could get away from him!!
  13. Carl, I could not find any of the Lynn Benish (Meredith Lord) interviews you were mentioning on here. If you can find them, please let us know - and thanks!!
  14. I don't think I'd seen that clip before. Thank you!! Jim Pritchett was a North Carolina native, went to school there and never forgot his roots. Carl, I went to the OLTL tribute thread and went through all 158 pages (!!!) but did not find any of the Lynn Benish interviews you mentioned. If you find them, would you please let us know? Was Bonnie on TD her first TV role?
  15. They were both dark horses in the Emmy races for those years. What was the storyline that made Irene Dailey the winner? To me, Aunt Liz was a supporting character, and they did in fact debut the supporting actor/actress categories in 1979 - Suzanne Rogers (Maggie, DAYS) took home that trophy.
  16. Did the TV station always figure into the story or did it become more prominent once Bev McKinsey left?
  17. Who else remembers the ill-fated stage show Linda and Joan had about a decade or so ago? It drew poorly and also got dreadful reviews. I remember it for two reasons - it came through Cleveland (they were interviewed on one of the local TV stations) and Jay Leno joking about it. He said in his monologue, "The name of the show is the Really Old Vagina Monologues!" ROFL!!
  18. Vintage treasure - Laurie Heinemann's acceptance speech for the Best Actress Emmy in 1978, for playing the first Sharlene Frame. Ironically, the actor presenting the award had spent many years on AW as Walter Curtin - Val Dufour (who was then starring on SFT). It's audio only, and starts at about the 52:35 mark:
  19. Yes, that sounds right. Thanks!!
  20. Here's a real treat - from 1978, James Pritchett's Emmy Award acceptance speech for when he was named Best Actor. It's audio only, but you can still pick up on the excitement. The ceremony was hosted by Richard Dawson, and the Best Actor trophy was presented by AMC's Mary Fickett (Ruth Martin). It starts around the 47:40 mark:
  21. All I know from reading several articles on Google News Archives and a few other random sites is that Susan Harney is a Tennessee native, born 2/1/1946, making her nearly 8 months older than Jacquie Courtney. She left AW (and New York) in 1979 along with her co-star/boyfriend Barry Jenner (who had played Evan Webster) and married him in California in 1980. Susan's AW replacement was the infamous "What's A" Wesley Ann Pfenning. Per imdb (and take that with a grain of salt), Barry Jenner has since remarried. I read somewhere else that Jay Leno was Barry's best man, but I don't know if it was at his wedding to Susan or his current wife's. Barry Jenner is best-known to the "kids" of my generation as Lt. Murtaugh, Carl Winslow's superior, on Family Matters. He was always and forever hitting on Rachel (Telma Hopkins), only to be shot down each and every time! As far as I could find out, Susan Harney is back living in her hometown of Murfreesboro, TN. Per imdb, her last screen credit was in 1994.
  22. Steve is also the only one who pronounces "Werner" with a "V", in true German fashion. I have to wonder if any of the fans ever gave it to Laryssa Lauret on the streets, telling her to leave Matt alone or some such thing. It seems TD never got quite as much attention as other soaps from the time, like ATWT and GL did, but TD sure had its share of loyal fans.
  23. Wow, I didn't know anyone besides Larry Lau had played Greg.
  24. Which one of the approximately twelve billion Kevins did you have in mind? LOL
