Ryan's Hope Discussion Thread
That's a great post, and really gets to the heart of Delia. For all his faults, no one understood Dee like Roger.

Thanks. A changing of the guard - with writers AND producers at the same time - explains a lot!! 😨

I wasn't watching the show yet, but it does sound awfully twisted. Who was writing at this point?

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
He would hardly be the first charlatan out there, to hide behind the guise of faith/church attendance/sob stories about the past to harm others. I know from my own experience how it is to be used by someone like that. Coltin/Stephen obviously has major psychological issues and people aren't safe around him.

I thought Justine had plastic surgery done on her face so she'd look just like Rachel, but I could be wrong.

Agreed...and it was a mistake to kill off Margo. Alan treated her like trash...so I'm glad that now HE'S the one out in the cold.

It was Irene Dailey of AW, in 1979. Others up for the Lead Actress Emmy that year were Susan Seaforth Hayes (DAYS), Beverlee McKinsey and Victoria Wyndham (AW) and Nancy's RH co-star, Helen Gallagher.

Here's Chandler Harben (Rico) in a shaving cream commercial. I'm guessing this was filmed when he was on TD since this is a Palmolive product. 😎

True, and she may have missed NYC and preferred living there to LA.

You're welcome. That article had been on Ryan's Bar Online, but it doesn't appear to be there anymore. If I can find it, I'll post it (or the link) here. Ah!! I found it. It was from TV Guide, not SOD. Here you go, @BetterForgotten: http://ryansbaronline.tripod.com/addisontvguide87.html

Ryan's Hope Discussion Thread
There was an article in SOD from late 1987 which said that both Nancy and Cali Timmins (Maggie) had decided to leave the show. Thus, Jill and Maggie headed to Australia (???) to care for their sick mother. Their last episodes aired at the beginning of 1988, and they weren't seen again until they returned for the show's final week a year later.

Nope! I've heard that Penny becomes more of an ingenue as time goes on, but I can't picture her as anything but an instigator. I just hope that she's not completely declawed.

Who do you think had the better chemistry with Ron Hale...IK or RE?

March 1976, that's when the big 90-minute special aired. Retro TV is in September 1975 now, so I figure it will probably be three months our time (two episodes a day, holiday preemptions, etc.).

I think all that happens in the summer of 1976.

Wasn't that the storyline that earned Randall an Emmy nomination?

Was Margaret DePriest the writer who created the Dancys? (I know Doug Marland expanded the family when he came on.) That makes me wonder if Robert Cenedella was just meant to be an interim HW until they found someone permanent.

That's how she is in the reruns of The Doctors on Retro TV. The storyline she is in is a mess, but it doesn't take away from her acting. (Besides, we all know that she had her share of clunker stories as Donna.) Toni and Donna were two totally different characters, but Anna Stuart was great in both roles. I saw her first on AW when it was still on the air, but it wasn't until seeing her on TD that I really appreciated her versatility as an actress.

Retro TV is currently in the September 1975 episodes. The Dancys should be showing up sooner rather than later. @Khan, you are welcome. Billy did spend the first ten or so years of his life with Dan, so it makes sense that on some level he would be influenced by him even after he was long gone. Also, whoever was writing at the time probably didn't even know that Dan wasn't Billy's biological father.

I know it's a moot point, but SoapNet should have done something to be able to run the entire series. If music rights were the problem, they could have dubbed in generic/public domain stuff. Look at Retro TV's rerunning of The Doctors. Up to this point, they have aired nearly eight years of episodes and have said several times that they are committed to airing the series until its end. Too bad SoapNet didn't show the same commitment to RH and its fans.
