  1. I forgot to mention, the other thing that made me laugh recently was that scene with Steve and Kayla. They're talking about Abby's DNA test, and Steve mentioned that it would not be the first DNA test that's been wrong in Salem. To which Kayla replied (while conveniently reminding the audience) that the only people who handled the test were her and Dr. Mark Greene. But, I enjoyed the subtle shade of Salem U Hospital not being the most trustworthy institution in the US. Especially since Tom Horton retired. 😉 I mean off the top of my head Nicole, Belle, and Sarah have all had DNA mishaps. Not to mention how often they've implanted the wrong embryo during IVF. As well as the many prisoners who have escaped while under doctor's care. That place is a mess, and I would only seek treatment there if I knew that the ghost of Lexie Carver would cure me like Paulina.
  2. Days recently made a similar PR push calling this their 60th season. It seems so odd given that it is on 52 weeks a year.
  3. Brady and Ava are giving the classic two damaged people in love. But, I'm grateful because he's not in a position to try to save her from anything right now. I don't know exactly where their conflict will come from, and I am afraid Kristen will be the spoiler in that relationship. You know Brady's weakness is either saving damsels or macking on mother figures. Hopefully they'll find some new angle to play with both characters, who feel a little played out right now.
  4. There's something funny, intentional or not, about the fact that every time Xander brings up wanting justice for Brady, people mentioned his past deeds that have gone unpunished. It's like: Xander: I want Brady locked up Everyone: But, didn't you kidnap Sarah, import stolen diamonds, kidnap Nicole, terrorize Bonnie, and steal a baby, and shoot Marlena, and…. Xander: Yeah, but that was over a year ago.
  5. I had forgotten the actress was in a similar accident. I don't like it when they re-play trauma from people's lives, it feels too invasive.
  6. You bring up an interesting point. After the public humiliation of being in a mental institution, brought up on federal charges for his South China Sea deal, and accused of murder at least twice, one would think JR wouldn't be so threatened by a roman à clef.
  7. If the scabs hadn't just pushed Maggie into an insta-marriage with Konstantin, this was the perfect setup for a Maggie/Fiona/whomever triangle. I like the idea of contrasting the two women who beguiled Victor the most, in a new relationship. Or even having Maggie back Xander, and Fiona back Brady in the business domain. Fiona could have pushed Brady to get his part of Titan, based on the performance of Basic Black. It just feels like a missed opportunity to have someone not as nuts as Vivienne be an antagonist for Maggie. Thus, making the way for the final evolution of Maggie from meek farm girl to power matriarch.
  8. I was thinking about how in the 90s Loving, All My Children, and GH all had cosmetics storylines (reflecting the era when every small town in the US had rival makeup companies and spokesmodel competitions). But, I've been racking my brain and I can't recall if OLTL ever had a similar plotline. Am I forgetting one?
  9. Now I'm wondering if they filmed her entire arc in one week. Day 1, the wedding, Day2 everything in the hotel suite, Day3 everything in the square, Day4 everything at the mansion, and Day5 the car accident.
  10. @Soapsuds I was having a similar issue, but if you go to your ignore list, you need to make sure that all the boxes are checked - I hope this helps
  11. It is interesting to note that most of the comments come from the jollyfree.com domain. https://www.ipqualityscore.com/domain-reputation/jollyfree.com Which makes wonder if there is any utility in having those of us whose names were altered for comments complain to the server about having our identities misused online? https://www.stopforumspam.com/domain/jollyfree.com
  12. I think Paulina's transformation prior to the recast is arguable, given that she was willing to let Marley be charged for Jake's shooting. Also, my point about the semiotics of her costuming suggests that they were still trying to portray her as a conniver through her wardrobe. I prefer Cali's interpretation, and perhaps she would have inspired a different direction for the character, but I doubt she would've lasted as long.
  13. It is amusing thinking back to when Judi Evans debuted, they still styled her like Cali. She wore those Hervé Léger bandage dresses in every color. Yet, it clearly did not fit the actress's personal style, and so she always looked uncomfortable. Getting back to my original point, if Paulina was going to last, she had to evolve from a conniving con-woman, to a vixen with a heart of gold. Which meant that they had to find some way to keep her from being redundant to Vicki. I believe they would've run into the same creative issues if Judi was cast as Nancy. Because, Judi's natural appeal has always been as a folksy every-woman-type. So, it was really six of one, half dozen of the other. And I don't see any world in which they could've written for Paulina, Vicki, and Nancy at the same time, while maintaining Amanda and Marley, as well as a random ingénue for either Jamie or Matthew.
  14. I am mostly amused because I had almost the opposite reaction. When I saw Gabi and EJ wake up, I wondered if there was any possibility that they might not have actually had sex. Once again, DAYS more recent repressed approach to sex scenes had me confused.
  15. Cali Timmins on being told she was Jake's shooter. I guess time heals all wounds if she went to the recent reunion, but that would leave a bitter taste in my mouth...
  16. Perhaps, she auditioned for Vicki prior to DAYS, and then was cast as Paulina years later?
  17. That's weird @AbcNbc247 because the SOD reporting from Judi Evans's side of the story is a bit different. Both could be true, but it sounds like AW was actively pursuing her.
  18. I feel like it is only on soaps that kidnap victims can't yell because they have a gag tied around their mouth. It might be difficult to articulate, but you could still produce a loud noise. Also, if everyone is already doubting Abby, there has to be a plan B, right? I mean, at least if Chad was arguing with Leo, Steve, and Stephanie, there would be another beat where faux-Abby could isolate Chad from those who loved him. But, Chad already has suspicions, so it seems like this story is moving awfully fast. Also, it feels deliberate that they are keeping faux-Abby away from the kids, so her con doesn't seem as cruel. Thus, sparing the character from being a real villain. That being said, the Connie resolve could not come fast enough… And Stephanie is taking longer to plan a memorial for Everett than the entire amount of time he spent in Salem!
  19. Those are two fairly major recasts, and off the top of my head, she recast Anna during her second tenure at GH. I'm simply saying, it may not have been her preference, but it happened.
  20. Also, isn't the myth about Gloria Monty not liking to recast invalidated by one of the Cassadines? I have a vague memory of one of them being recast in the role early on. It feels untenable. Maybe, she said it in an interview, but it would've been difficult to never recast a part during her entire career at GH. Similar to when Claire Labine said it was difficult to write for happy couples on soaps while at RH (paraphrased), and then went on plenty of stories for long term couples. We can't hold these people to a single quote over their entire lifetime.
  21. She was serving...
  22. I know it is not going to happen, but I wouldn't be totally upset if Fiona offed Sarah. I mean, it's a dumb plan to try to smother someone in their own home, while there are people downstairs. But, Sarah is not my favorite Horton, and a more vengeful Xander could be interesting…
  23. What I am trying to say is that if The Gates is “replacing” The Talk, then in the two biggest markets in the US, it would've been on an hour before GH. But now, with the network taking back an hour from local NYC and LA stations, there is a major possibility that it will air at the same time as GH. Which seems unfortunate given that many other soaps failed in the same slot. Perhaps, streaming means that timeslots won't matter as much. But, it is concern that was not a barrier when the soap was first proposed. Which is why I am mentioning it today.
