  1. @Bright Eyes There was a lot of foreshadowing today, but it was kind of funny that they brought up EJ's ex-wife today and not (a) when he got married to her sworn enemy, (b) when her sworn enemy left town with her brother, (c) when her son got married, (d) when her kidnapper/ex-husband got out of jail, etc, etc, etc...
  2. I assume RonC didn't want to re-visit Bobby/Everett, but it was a better option to pin something on Jada. The current story doesn't include any specifics. I don't get why Shawn would jump to conclusions when a file is just dropped on his desk? And, if EJ was the DA at the time, wouldn't he be negligent in prosecuting crimes that Jada bent the rules to solve? Meanwhile, they could've said that Jada was too slow in getting help for Bobby when he overdosed (which is kind of true). And that Stephanie was covering for her as a friend. That would have made more sense, and because it happened while Rafe was in a coma, it would've been logically both a surprise and disappointment to him (or fake-him, in this case).
  3. https://www.tmz.com/2025/02/03/casey-deidrick-arrested-domestic-assault-tennessee/?adid=social-tw Actor Casey Deidrick -- best known for his role as Chad DiMera on "Days of Our Lives" -- was arrested over the weekend in Tennessee for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and snatching her phone, TMZ has learned. Deidrick was taken into police custody Sunday and charged with domestic assault and interference with an emergency call, according to an arrest warrant obtained by TMZ. He was jailed at the Davidson County Sheriff's Office and later released after posting $2,500 bond.
  4. To my eye, it seems as if an older generation of producers has not adapted to streaming. Yes, in the age of DVRs (which I know some people still use), you needed short scenes to capture the attention of the audience. However, it ruins the organic nature of a conversation when every time a person asks a question, they cut the scene, go to commercial, and then return for the answer. In the age of streaming, people don't channel surf during commercials. They may be second screening on their phone. But, there is no danger of loosing a viewer to another show during the commercial, because, obviously, that's not how streaming works. So, it just makes sense if you are trying to grow a younger audience to write in the same cadence of other streaming shows which have longer scenes, and more intense dialogue exchanges.
  5. I predict they'll be a medical crisis caused by the nurse who held Abe hostage, and that will lead to the end of the B&S plot by the end of the month. Which just may be one of the worst "sweeps" stories ever of DAYS - for the sticklers, I know they don't use sweeps on streaming, it is both a joke, and an observation that they still tend to time stories around traditional sweeps periods.
  6. When the never-before-seen-evil-twin Pamela uses implied psychic energy to make her returned-from-South-America-undercover-twin Alison/Pat drive off the road, it may have jumped the shark, but it was fun to watch. http://www.sonsanddaughters.co.uk/people/characters/hudson_pamela.htm
  7. The Dimeras moved closer to the docks, because Brady said that he walked to the Bistro last week. And given the ever-changing lake and river proximity, I assume that's how Aremid moved closer to Salem. 🤪🗺️ Although how Dr. Rolf's submarine got out of there is still a mystery...
  8. Friday's cliffhanger has red herring all over it. BUT - justice for Rita, love her, love the glasses, love the taser, love the whole thing. Also, kudos to Kayla and Gabi's wedding dresses. Kayla's in particular was really beautiful, and such a breath of fresh air from her usual shirt waist, pointed collars numbers. Finally, did Gabi offer to drive Arnold to the wedding, despite it being right outside the hotel? The map of Salem continues to confound me (although I found this fun attachment on Reddit)
  9. @kalbir Your posting made me think about how much the basic ethos of the show changed from season one onward. I'll summarize my reaction, realizing that it is an overstatement based upon years of episodes. S1, Krystle and Steven are sort of the moral center of the show, and they are trying to tell everyone that love is more important than the acquisition of wealth. Blake learns to trust and value his partner. Fallon learns that playing with Blake's money is less essential than earning his respect. There's a late 1970s value system at play. Then S2 onward, the tables turn, and it is all about how the acquisition of power through wealth gives people freedom. Alexis wants her own agency and to be free of the judgment of men. Fallon gets a hotel empire in order to satiate her desire for independence. Steven has a literal about face (😎). Making Blake a beneviolent hero suddenly changes the writing from being about prioritzing relationships over to money, to valuing all the things that money can buy. It was a way of mollifying the masses to the disparity of wealth. Whereas in the 70s, we told the middle class that money can't buy happiness. The 80s were about that anyone could find success, and we should ignore the systematic issues that create disproportionate wealth.
  10. Just to follow up on the shutdown post, if anyone wants to respond to any of my opinions with the question, “are you on drugs?”, I'm fine with that, because I may have been medicated at the time of posting. 😉🤪
  11. yes, but my ethics are based on the idea that fair compensation for creative workers is more important than my individual desire for consumption - I don't expect that we all share the same values, nor do I judge those who do not - which is why I wrote it as an ethical dilemma And, I would dismiss the validity of the argument that actors signed a contract that included lower residuals, at a time when soaps weren't being rerun as part of the reason that unions are necessary. Collective bargaining agreements ensure that those desperate for work are not exploited.
  12. At the finale, it was implied/almost revealed that Chanel was the daughter from an affair between Ruth Marshall and Peter Whitmore.
  13. Also for those sticklers for historical accuracy, obviously the headline about a “daytime first” was hyperbolic, because they mention the syndication of Dark Shadows within the text.
  14. I think there's a lot of foreshadowing of how the story will end. Chanel and Stephanie have already quit. Bonnie is in the hospital. There is a saboteur. And the "fans" as exemplified by Lady Whistleblower don't seem satisfied. So, I would imagine that an upcoming Dimera family emergency and hospital business storyline that were hinted in the winter promo will take priority, and shutdown the production.
  15. The interesting tidbit here for those always asking about the “P&G vault”, and desire for reruns is that those actors had to sign contracts with residual payment restrictions. Which brings up an intriguing ethical issue: would you want to see soap reruns if you knew the actors and writers were not being fairly compensated?
  16. The actress who played Beryl just passed. I binged it, and the sudden tonal shifts are both exciting and weird. It goes from looking like a traditional daytime soap, to a Dynasty rip-off, then there are action-adventure scenes. But, there are long term stories that pay off, and very intriguing characters. I think this site is an excellent resource http://www.sonsanddaughters.co.uk/
  17. Especially Jack and Jennifer, since they were leading players in that plot
  18. or Kate. I wish more had been made of the threesome of Kayla, Kate, and Marlena post thier frozen adventure. There was so much potential for them to interact. I'd love to see Kayla's reactions as Kate's sister-in-law. As well as Marlena as the ex-wife. They're a fun trio, and add in Paulina, you've got some mature, interesting, greek chorus scenes. For example, rather than those tortured scenes of Kristen explaining Aremid to Johnny, gather the ladies over coffee and have them reminisce about their past adventures with Rachel and her kids. It's the Real Housewives of Salem.
  19. We're on the 87th day of January
  20. He is being paid beaucoup bucks to attend the menswear collections in Paris and Milan, and the tooth was part of the theme at the Jacquemus show. He later went to AMI Paris show, sat next to Anna Wintour and was no longer wearing the tooth.
  21. To be fair, Brady got that referral from Marlena and made an appointment for two minutes later (they seem to avoid taking Rachel to school, but she's got bigger fish to fry).
  22. I assume Maggie had more staff to help with cooking and cleaning, but it never made much sense that they put paralyzed Sarah in a room upstairs. Unless Maggie has an elevator that we've never seen. 🆙👎 But, much like Alex after his inheritance, I think they're there to stay. Also, while I've grown to accept that Alex and Philip are co-CEOs, does Maggie still own 50%? Because, I don't understand why they don't need her approval for a takeover of Dimera?
