  1. Ironically, today, I found myself more aligned with EJ rather than Eric. Eric is consistently inconsiderate. He is neglecting Sloan's feelings and dismissing her concerns about parenting and bonding with Jude. He even permits others to criticize her openly. Today, his insensitivity extended to Holly when he casually brushed off her wish for Nicole and him to be married, suggesting there are more people to love her. It begs the question: why does he continually disregard the concerns of the women in his life? On the other hand, EJ's intentions seem geared towards creating a safer environment for his step-daughter, unaware of Holly's struggles with substance use. He also seeks to build rapport with his wife and new family. Theresa advising Tate not to trust Holly due to her deceitfulness was rich. It's a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Credit to DAYS for deviating from the typical teen romance hurdles, like feuding families. It's understandable why a parent would object to a romantic partner who readily betrays their significant other. Lastly, Tate's pace in this relationship seems rather brisk, given that New Year's Eve marked only their second date.
  2. Nicolas Coster (RIP) made a guest appearance in the latest episode of Palm Royale, playing a beleaguered judge.
  3. Shall we make a bet how long it will be until Aunt Jordan goes to a surgeon who carves the word "killer" on her forehead? I find myself debating how long is too long for this story. It is so farfetched, and yet somehow also reminiscent of stories from the past. For me, if it wasn't co-occurring with Ashley's DID story, I might find it more of just a silly lark. But, both tales at once feels like too much. Much like I don't need two dream episodes in one month.
  4. https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2024/03/the-gates-cbs-george-cheeks George Cheeks - President and CEO of CBS, (not to be confused with Gorge Cheeks, an excellent Grindr profile name)
  5. While you make a solid point about the depiction of patients and the consequences of their responsibility for appropriate treatment. I don't care about whether the actor consented to the story. I am simply stating that I do not like it as a viewer in 2024 when they portray mental illness in such an ignorant fashion. I also understand that it not a priority for everyone, and thus some will disagree.
  6. @BetterForgotten & @DramatistDreamer, I would encourage you both to read the Generations bible that is summarized by @dc11786 in the Generations thread. For me, it cleared up a lot of the lore. My reaction after reading it was that although a multi-racial drama was not part of the original pitch, as noted by the writer in later interviews, that was clearly the intent once the bible was written. However, the mixture of a writing staff that appeared to have no people of color to provide insight, and network interference about the portrayal of Black family issues, derailed much of the original concept. Hopefully that won't be an issue with The Gates due to NAACP and P&G being a part of the development process.
  7. I had the same reaction. Hopefully, we are being influenced by his IRL appearance. Because in the preview pics shared by @Soapsuds it looks like they made him look less mature on screen.
  8. I just feel that the production can't have it both ways. They can't try to gain social credibility by telling stories about Bipolar Disorder as portrayed by an actor with the diagnosis. Then, turn around and have two preposterous cliffhangers in a row about how people with emotional disorders are dangerous if untreated by medical procedures like surgery and prescriptions. I have no problem with plots about traumatized little girls who've gone mad due to hypnotic tarot cards. Because that is a fantastical idea that is not meant to be rooted in reality. But, to be so insensitive as to suggest that a man who has struggled with Bipolar disorder wouldn't have any insight into his symptoms, so he could be easily manipulated, is just tacky and ignorant.
  9. My issue isn't the within story rationale, it is that the idea itself is offensive, and I would hope that a decade later the production would be more sensitive.
  10. My real hesitation after today is the ethical/political/moral issue of writing the idea that they are replacing Sonny's meds with placebos. It is kind of gross to play with serious issues like mental health. And I wish that wasn't a necessary part of the story. I'm fine with spies and mobsters. I understand that it is meant for the audience to sympathize with Sonny, and demonstrate how low Valentine has stooped. But the medication issue crosses a line of good taste.
  11. I know that I am talking out of both sides of my mouth, but I think it does fit if Valentine was honestly confused about what happened to Anna at the hotel. I mean, he knows that he burnt down Anna's house, which Charlotte has always denied. But, then this other stuff happens, and he doesn't know who did it. Until eventually he figures out that it was his own daughter. So, he tried to get Anna to depend on him and move in with him, but the plan got ruined because Charlotte is a lunatic and wants her Daddy all to herself. Which explains Brennen line about messing up his plans for Anna.
  12. I was just reading @JAS0N47's final script for Stephen on the BTS DAYS thread. I did not recall that he romanced Mary Anderson (he was loosing end of a triangle with Chris Kostachek), and he knew Melissa as a child. I'm sure he is coming for the funeral. However, it would be intriguing if he turns out to be Everett's father, given Julie's affinity toward him. But it seems like the reveal of Everett's past must occur before November. Does anyone recall how we found out that Stephen had a son? Because it must have happened after he left Salem.
  13. IIRC (and @Vee you know that's not my strength), Valentine asked Nina to review the footage, they watched it together, saw it was Charlotte, and agreed to keep it secret so that Valentine could get Charlotte some mental health support.
  14. Well, it is confusing why Valentine would review the hotel video to see that Charlotte was terrorizing Anna? Maybe he was trying to throw everyone off of his scent, and he honestly didn't know it was Charlotte that would take the blame? Because there is still the loose thread that he lied to Anna after her house burned down, and she followed him to a meeting that he denied attending. I still think Brennen is head of Pikeman, but he recruited Valentine who started the whole thing by going to Sonny to ask him to ship Pikeman goods. And there's some FBI deep state conspiracy that we'll find out John is actually trying to take down from within, and that's why he recruited Jason.
  15. My dream scene has always been for a back from the dead character to go to the DMV and explain why they need a new driver's license.
  16. They were floating in money back then like a pearl in a bottle of Prell. (A marketing image that I still don't understand. Why does anyone want thick shampoo? And is the pearl meant to represent a skull?)
  17. Didn't Jason inherit shares in ELQ when Alan, Edward, and Lila died? Because I wondered why Michael didn't leverage those in order to pay the bail (until I realized this was a very minor point and dropped it altogether).
  18. Does anyone else do the mental calculations every time DAYS releases a spoiler? So, he said he's going to LA next week, which is April. Plus six months makes it October. Good news, I'll totally forget by then, and it will be a nice Halloween surprise.
  19. I'm not the gatekeeper, but, this information is already posted in the preview/spoiler section, as it seems that is the most appropriate place for this type of news.
  20. The mole on his cheek may get a bit distracting…
  21. As many have suspected for a while Leo Howard has been cast as the new Tate. He begins 4/4/2024. Jamie Martin Mann left the soap to go to college full-time. https://www.tvinsider.com/1129407/days-of-our-lives-recasting-tate-black-leo-howard/
  22. Speaking of which, I wish Marlena would tell John that she killed half of the town, and if she got over it, so should he. 😆😁
  23. I was happy to see that other people live at the halfway house when Theresa visited Tate. Also, Tate that girl at the table visiting her parents was cute. Why not try to date her? At least she hasn't framed you for drug distribution. John's discomfort at the church made me google his past crimes. According to the fansite wiki, he's never killed anyone. He has kidnapped, punched, and stolen art, but never murder. So, I guess this is a bid deal. Even though I would bet Sami's screenplay that Catharina is not dead. I just wonder, if she was shot almost 40 years ago, will she be played by a middle-aged actress or the woman in the photo? Sloan's dress felt very short for a church ceremony, but I not an expert on the subject. The way people on soaps argue about secrets, in front of the people that they are trying to hide information, is very silly. I also find it funny that Holly is imitating Theresa, who in turn is imitating an American accent. I'm still stuck on the fact that Johnny saw Holly smoke a joint, and I am waiting for that to be a part of the story. Why is Johnny never home when they have parties at the mansion? They made sure to tell us where Belle, Sami, and Kristen were today. But is Johnny still on his honeymoon, or did his father once again forget to invite him downstairs when there are visitors?
  24. Except for the fact that Shawn explicitly said Belle shouldn't follow him to rehab. (Although, I assume he's completed treatment and agreed to have her come visit).
  25. There was a Little House Reunion last weekend and the Sun got theses quotes Asked why she was written out of the show, she insists it was her fault because she was new to soap operas and felt she hadn't given the writers what they needed. She appeared in 77 episodes from 1983 to 1984 and was not the first actress to play Horton. "I didn't leave the show because I wanted to leave," she admitted. "I left the show because I think I didn't understand how it worked. You really have to give them something to write for. The two "juicy" parts of the story "I'm very comfortable in sweatshirts and jeans. I'm very comfortable without makeup. So, it was a whole new world for me. "And I have very large hands, very large feet. I'm not comfortable in certain clothes. (certainly the silliest quote) She recalled one unnamed actor who blew up on set while filming Days Of Our Lives, on which she played Sandy Horton for a year before her character was written out. "But there was only one guy one day who blew up on the set. You know how you have a meltdown and you offload and it was very verbal, it was all over the place, it quieted everyone. "It was not pretty but I thought, wow, I've gotten this far in my career and never had that happen and it never happened again. (let the guessing begin)
