  1. I didn’t know where to put this, but stumbled upon this article about Martha Byrne’s husband. He’s been indicted on some interesting charges… Private Eye From Mahwah Among Group Indicted On Charges Of Stalking NJ Couple For China
  2. Oddly, GH was the ABC soap Curlee almost landed on as HW next (she was reportedly on tap to replace the Labine’s), but she backed out when she got pregnant again.
  3. In a weird way, AMC/McTavish having Natalie stuck in that damn well felt like a precursor to Reilly’s Buried Alive story.
  4. Liz was one of a kind and always fought hard for what she believed in and for the integrity of the characters she played. There aren’t many like her left. I feel so fortunate to have watched her as Lucinda. From the first time I saw her onscreen, I knew there was something special there. She was a true artist. RIP.
  5. ‘Degrassi’ creator Linda Schuyler on her memoir ‘The Mother of All Degrassi’ — the hardest part to write was the title
  6. He remained so proud of giving her that first deal until his death. RIP Seymour Stein, the record executive who signed Madonna, is dead at 80
  7. Like so many others on this show, Brook Lynn just feels like another generic character with no personality. AS brings nothing special to the table to counteract the lazy writing either.
  8. Remember when Devon banged Aunt Tyra 5 seconds after finding out she wasn't really his aunt? 🤢
  9. Even this guy's answers are boring as f.uck.
  10. Seeing Mamie back at the Abbott's warms my heart. It would be a total misuse of her, especially with her own extended family out there, but if I still watched this awful show, I wouldn't mind Mamie moving back in with the Abbott's and serving as a recurring support system for them - kind of the reverse of the purpose Dena served just a few years back.
  11. The Russo's were producers on EEAAO (not hands on, but they lent whatever clout they had to its marketing), so the Daniels likely already have a reference/or in with Marvel/Disney if they ever needed one. Angela Bassett is someone that has always been better than the roles that were typically given to her. I never expected her to win for a Marvel movie, so I can't say I'm shocked. I know some folks on Twitter thought her reaction wasn't classy - but to me, she wasn't bitter that Jamie Lee won, she looked more devastated/sad to me and likely because she was last nominated 30 years ago and she knows great roles are not created for women of her age and color. She probably saw this as one of her last chances. I hope she beats the odds and, similar to Michelle Yeoh, is given a cracking script and project to break the mold with - she's more than capable of it. I won't begrudge Jamie Lee either. Career wins always happen, and she's had longevity in this industry and is generally well liked.
  12. Sony could relocate production of Y&R to its own studio lot in Culver City, or production could move to CBS’s other major lot at Studio City where Passions once taped. It’s LA, so there’s quite a few facilities to move production to for both Y&R and B&B.
  13. Little did they know Seinfeld was about to skyrocket, and ER and Friends would be the breakout hits of that season.
  14. Didn’t Agnes notoriously try to edit actual scripts/dialogue as well? Patrick Mulcahey said she was like a school marm at Loving giving him copious (and annoying to him) notes in red ink on his scripts.
  15. Josh Griffith needs to go for the simple fact he has no creative energy left and has tanked at this show alone MULTIPLE times. The burnout will be real - especially as it was alleged he had a mental breakdown a few years ago when he worked with JFP. But Sony will ride it out until then - because he’s cheap.
  16. Y&R’s issue also seems to be that they don’t know how to manage their budget. A more skilled EP could extract a lot more value out of the existing budget - but they simply don’t have anyone with any skill to make this work.
  17. History has shown that if you’re not Bill Bell, being HW and EP is not successful and is a disaster on this show. Beall will not be able to do all these roles in one either.
  18. Something will inevitably crash hard as Griffith is not equipped to handle such a heavy workload. It will likely be similar to what happened to Mal Young when he was ousted. By then, who will Sony hire, or will CBS just decide to pull the plug on the soaps?
  19. Sadly, yes, it is cheap. It’s really puzzling that the #1 rated soap is so cash strapped that they’re eliminating an entire writing team function that even DAYS can afford. It tells me that this show’s finances are being severely mismanaged and Josh does not know how to efficiently handle it.
  20. Griffith has tanked this show numerous times and is always invited back. This decision makes no damn sense and one man can’t be EP, HW, and sole BDW without the show suffering tremendously. This will be way more disastrous than what happened under Mal Young.
  21. And it’s not like Roger ever became any sort of stereotypical romantic hero (in fact he knew he wasn’t worthy to be one). Roger being branded a rapist always followed him in some way, regardless of reckless producer comments that tried to downplay it. I can overlook a lot of Roger’s return because it brought so much richness back to the show. GL needed that character (and Zaslow) and was all the better for it.
  22. Sheffer’s ATWT was mostly smoke and mirrors - unfortunately, the soap press never saw beyond the Emmy’s and the damage he had done and would take to other shows later on. Sheffer said he picked ATWT over GL because he found ATWT the more “boring” of the two and yeah, he felt he could give the male characters their “dicks” back. 🙄
  23. It goes back to P&G and NBC hiring mid or downright disastrous HW’s and EP’s for this show for most of the post-Lemay years. P&G made plenty of mistakes with ATWT and GL as well, but there was at least a sense they were invested in those shows and would try to salvage them (often in failure). After Allen Potter, they seemed to just hire bottom of the barrel talent to steer AW. AW desperately needed a Marland or Curlee level talent, but P&G/NBC insisted on a rotating roaster of people with shoddy track records.
