Shawn Campbell--a blast from the past. Peace. I have a fairly good recollection of LIAMST. (Not a lot of other stuff!). That soap was one of the first big jobs that I was in the running for. I recall being screen tested with Donna Mills for the role that ultimately went to Shawn Campbell. He and I competed for many roles in those days and we each won our share. It was a friendly competition. Then I did a background-type of part on the show prior to getting the role of Paul Monroe on WTHI. Then, of course, The Doctors..

How about we lose Howarth, Easton, Once a year Gibbons and invest in LuLu, Lucas and Lucky. You know, the GH characters GH fans have history with and would rather see. A brief stint for DePaiva as Blair isn't irking me half as much as the others do. #firefrank is too worried about paying his friend's mortgages rather than who the fans want to watch. I happened to grow up a few miles from her family home. I never met her or her family, but the family business was well-known in the region. Her father and brother ran "Buzzi Memorials" - they carved gravestones and other memorials out of granite. They sometimes carved historical monuments for cities. The business was sold in 2016 to another granite-carver but still has the same name. In the summer when driving to the beach, we would drive past the big "Buzzi Memorials" sign on the side of the road; and back in the 1960s, we heard ads for the business on the local radio station. Really that's all I knew about Buzzi Memorials. (None of this is about Ruth, but it's interesting!) Arleen's Calliope was larger than life. For an awkward teen navigating all the crap we go through, seeing a character living an eccentric life right along with all the "normal" characters was great. From her hijinks with Eugene, capers with Anna (she and Leann Hunley gave such great "bestie" energy), to the Beat Bar with "Norm De Plume" A. K. A. Dr. Tom Horton, she fit in with anyone. That's what I did when I found my friend/family that I'm still hanging with 30 years later. Calliope was just a small piece of inspiration I've gleaned over the years, and I will always love Sorkin for the gift her portrayal gave to me.
