  1. I think it depends on, like others said, when you started the show, etc. A few posters have clear and fond memories of the real early years lol and I can see why it was better. I have to admit watching what I could on YouTube and my interest wanes when it hits 1983/1984 and Kobe starts. I like Long more than some on here lol but it did suck to lose so many characters and it felt like a different show. Not *bad* just not the same (YMMV). Just my perspective on someone who started in the 90s and has tried to see what I could (I hate so much has been removed from YouTube). If I was looking at it from an unbiased view, I'd say you can see the decline in almost all the soaps now cancelled starting around 95/96/97. The soaps changed and not for the better. Ironically, the four soaps left on the air now were probably at their 90s peak and still doing well. You could probably break down most of the soaps from their beginning, the 70s, the 80s, the 90s and the rest. I'd say the decline in daytime started around 1996-1998 were horrid years for most of the soaps. Rambling post but I think it depends on whether you still liked the show after 1984. Many just didn't care for it and I can see why. Now that I've seen earlier years, I get it.
  2. I have to admit, this Carly storyline is proving that Laura Wright is miscast as Carly. 👀
  3. I would love it. LOL. I'm shocked he wants to talk to her. I'd love it but I don't see it happening. Everytime I see a Hillary scene now all I picture is Marsha Clarke eavesdropping on her co-stars and ratting them all out as she gets thrown at man after man. I liked her as Hillary too. They should have just recasted.
  4. They get hammered about Liz and her family on social media constantly, and rightfully so (especially when someone other than her gets a parent or sibling). I think they also realize a certain Harrison family should have been Hardy/Webbers (hence tying Chase/Finn/Jackie/Gregory together, which works, though Jackie is weirdly absent at odd times). I'm assuming Frank will find some friends to cast in those roles. I better not see Farah Fath playing Sarah. Sarah Brown or Tamara Braun playing this stuff as Carly would be amazing.
  5. Ron has the hots for RSW and Cin is his pet pairing. He used Ciara to prop a serial killer. I'm guessing that's why Konefal doesn't want to stick around. She saw the writing on the wall. Which is a shame because I really like her as Ciara. She just wasn't given enough away from Ben (Konefal joined as Ciara in Nov 2017, was paired with Ben summer of 2018 and it's been Cin hell since). Sadly, I thought it was an interesting idea at first but the writing of course was terrible (I had a feeling Ciara would be a prop and she was). And now Ron is hitting the beats that should have played out years ago. They also have an unbelievably annoying and whiney stanbase on Twitter that literally begs Ron for re-assurance (as he mocks and seems annoyed by the other stanbases), leading to that SOD interview. So ridiculous. Couple stans today have no idea what "waiting for pay-off" means. As an example, GH has had a slew of pairings where they use a popular actress to prop a not so popular male actor and character. It's an ABC thing and now it's a CBS and NBC thing. Lord.
  6. Yeah, Duell changed around that time. And now he just feels dirty to me. LOL. I used to like Michael and Duell. I'm over it. I liked Watkins too, he was a little green at first but came into his own. They weren't overly invested in Dillon though (and Tracy was checking out). And I really didn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about Kiki. Looking back, GH wasted Matt Cohen, Watkins and even Hayley Erin.
  7. It sounds one and done, agreed.
  8. I couldn't have said it any better.
  9. Seems shock value plots and misery are wearing thin Yes we do! Yeah, I think Ian's family is worn out. I have no interest in Peter. Bobby is .... and Lucy is dead. I'd keep Kathy of course. But you're right. They do seem to ruin them. I would dig deeper too.
  10. 2017 Dillon should be on the canvas. I'm tired of Michael and his chemistry free pairings.
  11. I think Ava and Rafe have some chemistry but Nicole feels wasted. It's nice having her interact with them but I'm annoyed Eric remains in limbo. I'm torn on this. I see some potential. But I don't see any chemistry between Rafe and Nicole, personally. They work better as friends, which I'm glad the show finally remembered. I can kinda see why. She may not be emotionally connected to the character yet. And it doesn't help she's just popping in and I believe by herself. It's awkward which leaves her looking awkward, IMO. lol.
  12. Ohhh, makes sense. I can understand her position on that. Glad almost all of the vets are involved. And good to hear it should be a nice tribute. I'm cautiously optimistic.
  13. I have to agree, I lost interest majorly over the Bobby killing Lucy garbage. It's been a struggle to get back into it over the years. Continued poor writing doesn't help ... lol Phil feels *very* tired (beyond tired). And it seems like they're kinda desperate throwing Phil and Kat together (not sure where they stand I'm not up to date on the last month or so). Denise seems to be in constant misery which gets really old. I'd love something different for her. I like Sharon being more of a bitch, personally. But she still has a heart. Channel more of her mother. But she feels damaged. The canvas feels stale too. I'd start bringing some popular characters back and shake things up.
  14. I agree. MEK could have been Jeff. And good point on Dan and Chris. It often does feel like 'two shows' in one (well, three if you add in Frank's pets). I guess Chris created Peter but I thought it was Altman. I'd be interested in Dan taking the reigns solo, I think he's capable but it would be nice to have diversity with a woman of color as his other head writer.
  15. Pretty much sums up how I feel lol! I'm here for Chanel and Allie but of course share the concern with Ron's writing ... but it's a nice twist
  16. It really is. This needs to be the Cin send-off. Seriously.
  17. They really are. The problem with Peter and Cyrus is that they aren't menacing villains but they're written as they should be menacing. Jeff Kober is interesting but Cyrus is pathetic. The writing is the problem with both of them (and Ramsey is clearly just saying f it). Meanwhile, Obrecht is proof of how you rise above and become a fan favorite. Faison was beloved even though he was terrible. Peter and Cyrus read like "please love them even though they should be terrible villains". You know? Side-note, I'm kinda tired of Michael Knight's Colonel Sanders schtick for Martin and hearing 'Mama' constantly. Can we do more with him please?
  18. YEP, lol. And it didn't work. Ben should be leaving and Ciara and Theo should be staying. It's time to let Ben goooooo and pairing him with Claire would have never worked with ORK in the role (not that it would work now either).
  19. lmao I kinda forgot how good he looked without clothes on tho ...
  20. It's just so much misery. And ahh, I can see that. Stalling and dragging things out until Christmas for inane reasons that no longer matter. I never understood misery on Christmas. Big moments happening? Sure.
  21. THIS. I'm watching everyday. More than I can say for the other three soaps. I see the effort. Is it perfect? No. Are there characters I could care less about? Yes. But I see the effort and after a few years of crying over Oscar, making Drew and Franco happen, I'll take what they're giving us right now. The show was falling into a Hallmark-esque "we won't really *go there* drama" rut. ATWT comes to mind in it's last few years under Passanante (ironically ...)
  22. I'm so happy Kristina Wagner and Felicia are included. She HAD to be but she hasn't been on the show in over a year so ... what's going on with that? Did she just ... leave? Or wasn't able to travel due to COVID? Looking forward to seeing Reilly's daughter play his on-screen daughter. Too bad it seems to just be a guest spot. I'm assuming the 'secret' is Kimberly McCullough as Robin but she already spoiled it herself so ... although I keep waiting to see Geary's decrepit ass pop up in the tribute.
  23. I'm so worn out on masks. Lord. At least the Nicole mask story was FUN and Nicole was the most in character she'd been in a decade lol. None of this is fun or entertaining
