  1. I figure it was about how The GOP has been doing in this state. They have eliminated or limited many social service programs and have attempted to take away the control of the airport in Charlotte from the city itself. Then there was the boycott of the state due to the transgender bathroom bill that cost the state billions in revenue. I know the Right is more embolden than ever to cause as much damage as they can as long they are in control.
  2. Some of us liberals that live in North Carolina wondered how low the perception of the state is due to what the NC GOP has been doing to the state. I figured it the perception would be as low as Mississippi but being compared to South Africa made me laugh. NC hasn't sunk to that level yet. It's a purple state at the most with a conservative/rural- liberal/urban divide. It would be have more Democrat majority if not for the extreme gerrymandering done by the NC GOP when they finally took control of state house. The NC GOP in all of their arrogance, changed the constitution to limit the executive power of the governor when a Democrat was going to be elected as one.
  3. I feel the same way you do about leaving the country except I'm angry more anything. The whole leaving the country mindset never crossed my mind when GWB was in office but I'm just tired of dealing with American conservatives. I've accepted the fact that it's going to take at least 2 or 3 generations to began undo the damage Trump and the conservatives will do to this country now that they can rubber stamp their agenda through the courts. It took 70+ plus years for blacks to crawl out of the hole that Plessy v Ferguson and Jim Crow laws put them in. Unless there's a plague on the horizon, I don't see anything stopping the GOP for getting want they want.

  7. The "liberal" Washington Post can't let the NYT outdo them. I know remember Kathleen Parker from her op-eds and her appearances on that PBS show To The Contrary, and she's always been a conservative. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/is-there-a-kavanaugh-doppelganger/2018/09/18/88418f52-bb86-11e8-a8aa-860695e7f3fc_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.f4e8ca3ece24 McConnell speaking to some loving, kind hearted, tolerant, right wing christians. I hate this man and it was a hard for me to listen to this without having some bad thoughts.
  8. The non-invitation and reprimanding of Trump rings a little hollow when you remember that Bush was a far bigger monster than Trump in terms of actual actions and arguably worse to McCain as well. Then there's Kissinger... McCain was a portrait in contradictions, which he spun into an image of a maverick. He was attacked in the most ugly fashion by W in 2000, much worse than Trump, but he still supported Bush in 04 and attacked a fellow war hero in doing so. He was a war hero and survivor, but a committed war monger. He defended Obama's character but also attacked it. He was mixed up in the 80s financial corruption, but then fought to reform campaign finance. He hated Trump, but then voted with him plenty, worst of all for the tax scam. I just can't see why McCain was so buddy-buddy with Bush, who continues to get rehabilitated for no reason at all. Painting?
  9. https://www.npr.org/2018/08/16/639147599/colorado-baker-sues-state-again-after-refusing-to-make-cake-for-transgender-woma The Colorado baker who won a Supreme Court case over his refusal to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple is suing state officials, alleging religious discrimination over his refusal to make a cake celebrating a gender transition.
  10. Sometimes America gets what it deserves.
  11. I see the Washington Post isn't going to let the New York Times outdo them when it comes to normalizing conservatives.

  14. Here's an email I received yesterday (No, I'm not a conservative). Fellow Conservative, Obama is back, and he's trying to take over. He set up permanent shop in Washington, DC. He's behind a Congressional redistricting scheme to erase Conservatives from the map. He's having secret meetings with potential Trump challengers. Now his political machine has announced a 27-district 'Hit List' to try to take away our Majority. Please contribute $25 today to stop Obama's election interference! You don't have to read between the lines to see that Obama is trying to take over. He is the most powerful figure on the far Left -- and his ambition has no limits. STOP OBAMA'S SCHEME! DOUBLE-MATCH STATUS: ACTIVE Contribute $100 Contribute $75 Contribute $50 Contribute $25 Contribute Any Amount It's an American tradition that when a President steps down, he stops clinging to power. But Obama isn't doing that. His election interference is completely unprecedented - and each new scheme is worse than the last. Obama wants to be the man behind the curtains, hand-selecting the next Liberal President and pulling their strings. Contribute $25 today to stand up to Obama's election interference - your contribution will be DOUBLE-MATCHED! We need to counter his influence on the elections before his scheme succeeds. Thank you, Steve Scalise House Majority Whip
  15. I don't believe she talked to any black people in the projects.Fox has her on to talk about immigration issues because Mexican American. Fox is good at playing the token card and I can't be racist/sexist, etc if I have a friend who is black/latino/female. Campos-Duffy along with her future husband were contestants on the Real World back in the early or mid 90s. She was one of the finalists to replace Lisa Ling when Ling left the on View but Elisabeth Hasselbeck was chosen instead.
  16. At least we know some blacks from the projects wouldn't mind staying in those detention centers.
  17. And you have people out there that wondered how slavery and Jim Crow lasted as long as it did.
  18. Any comments on the Samantha Bee controversy? She called Ivanka a feckless [!@#$%^&*] and conservatives are calling for TBS to pull her show like ABC did Roseanne's. An eye for an eye.
  19. I remember Bush's " You are either with us or you're against us" quote that riled up his base and the media to go after anybody that was against the Iraq war. I remember The Right destroying and going after anything of French origin because France was against the Iraq war (French fries being renamed Freedom Fries, pouring French wine into rivers, etc). Bush's attempt to privatize Social Security. Country radio stations censoring the Dixie Chicks because they didn't support the Iraq War and they attacked Bush. The Right using the Scott Peterson trial (he murdered his wife and unborn child) as a means to pass anti-abortion laws. I could go and on about W but I will stop right there.

If you live by the purity politic sword, you will die by the purity politic sword.
  21. Here's the Democrats response if that happens.
