  1. It was sad about Hyland's premature death, but Betty Buckley fit seamlessly into that show, it's hard to imagine what it would been like without her. Lani did do a great job with the material she was given. It was sad that her mental health struggles effected her role by season 5 that she was pretty much just making cameos. Susan was falling apart by season 5 as well.
  2. Yes Julia and Jacques were hilarious together. Jacques said he met Julia shortly after coming to the U.S. in 1960. She was getting ready to release her first cookbook " The Art Of French Cooking" that brought her to the publics attention. He read the manuscript before it was published and said it was brilliant. James Beard also saw it and said the same thing and joked that he wished had written it. Beard, Pepin, ad Julia were long life friends. That Hawaii "The International Kitchen" cooking show was a pleasant surprise. What few episodes I found have been fun to watch and I hope more shows up. I saw a few short clips of the series on PBS Hawaii archives, but not the full episodes. Another Hawaiian based show that ran in the 80's was "Kathy's Kitchen". She was a vegetarian/plant based chef. She often had her children on the show cooking with her (I think I read she had like 11 kids). Several of her shows are on youtube. I'm not vegetarian, but it's fun and relaxing to watch.
  3. That's true. They declawed her by the end of her run and Emma made her down right sweet.
  4. ROTFL!!! at Charlene Tilton joining Dynasty. Her acting (if you want to call it that) would have fit right in on Dynasty or The Colbys. I thought Katharine Ross was miscast. Kate O'Mara should have played Francesca. Bliss was a wash out. Maybe another actress could have breathed life into the character. I would have cast Jon Erik Hexum (if he had lived) as Miles on Colbys or Steven Carrington on Dynasty. One of the primetime soaps should have snapped up Susan Dey. I know she was on the short lived Emerald Point pre-L.A. Law. The same for Diane Kay (Eight Is Enough) who appeared on the Flamingo Road pilot.
  5. There's a hilarious scene in Back To The Cul-De-Sac where Abby is getting ready to move to her new beach house and walks into Karen's house and asks her and Val if they want any of her old furniture. Karen tells her that her house is full and asks Val. Val asks Abby " Do you happen to have an armoire" ? "Gary and I like to lie in bed and watch TV". Abby replies " When Gary and I were married that's the last thing we thought about when we were in bed". " Watch TV"? and rolls her eyes and walks out the door. Karen and Val look at each other and say " Bitch".
  6. Yes...he wrecked the bedroom as Sid pounded on the front doors. Sid finally kicked them in and went in to find Gary bawling. Karen entered shortly after. LOL at Brain Virus Val....you could tell the writers hated Joan at that point. I'm surprised Jill didn't try to burn Val up inside the house after her failed plot to kill her the first time.
  7. I wonder what the actors thought when they saw that script ? Michelle Lee really chewed scenery in that episode. That scene where the boys fell in oil and she made them all get in the house and was looking around like she was having a spasm made me LOL. She also made Val get in her house instead of going to her own when they got back from the market, but when Laura came over and wanted to come in, she told her to go make the call for her from her own house ??? Poor Val's house was always getting wrecked. The thugs trashed it during the baby shower, Joshua trashed it after getting fired, Earl Trent broke her fancy new dishes she was proud of....I wonder if Gary took her back down to Sears to get some replacements ? She should have fed the Trents off some Corelle she got on sale at K-Mart.
  8. That episode was kind of a rehash of season 1 "Land Of The Free" with the thugs terrorizing ladies on the beach, now they are being terrorized by thugs in Val's living room and throwing her nice antique furniture that Miss Ellie gave her around. Maybe they thought viewers wouldn't notice.
  9. Julia Child & Company (1978): Dinner For The Boss.
  10. That's true. In seasons 1 and 2 Ginger left Kenny for like 10 minutes and then got back with him after she discovered she was pregnant. Laura and Richard screwed around on each other and stayed together, Gary screwed around on Val and she took him back right after. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.
  11. Mary Crosby had that " Rich Bitch" thing down pat. Maybe being a Crosby naturally instilled that in her. I wonder if Spelling or The Shapiros ever threw her name around as PSM's replacement or since she was from Dallas she was damaged goods ?......LOL
  12. I think the first 3 seasons of Knots kept focusing on the main storylines on " Which one of the spouses is going to cheat, be tempted to cheat or get cheated on tonight" ? That got old quick. It's funny how in Season 1 Gary is so protective and caring towards Val ( hence like like a china doll).....then by Season 2 he acts like he can't stand her, talks down to her and then finally cheats on her. He blows her off when she needs him like when he doesn't show up when she asks for his help with the show featuring Karen and Diana. Then when she get's cancer he pretty much has the thought it would be better for her to die than to survive with a colostomy because "He can't handle it". It's funny that Gary looked like a poor victim of Jock and J.R. the way he was written on Dallas as being weak....well turns out Jock was right about him.
  13. I wonder how Mary Crosby would have been ?
  14. Leave it to Tori to screw things up.....🤣
  15. That hairdo aged her 10 years. She also seemed to be struggling with her off screen issues and at times looked zoned out during season 5. Susan started bleaching her red hair blonde and it looked awful.
  16. After I posted I went and pulled out the movie to be sure I was correct. Val and Karen asks if she's getting along and Ginger replies " Oh Yeah " and Val say's " A boyfriend huh"? and Ginger replies " A few and it's been educational"...she whispers to them about Kenny being a mediocre lover. It's hard to believe that reunion miniseries was 27 years ago. It aired in May 1997 and I remember watching it the 2 nights it aired. Too bad the script was blah, but it was nice revisiting the cul-de-sac again.
  17. I don't remember her saying she was a lesbian. She showed up at Val's house for Karen and Mac's 15th Anniversary party. Karen tells Val Ginger and Kenny are divorced. Val replies " I know"...Karen jokes how come you knew and I didn't and Ginger tells Karen " Relax, I told Val when she called". Ginger mentions she has had a few lovers and that it has been educational. She then says Kenny was a mediocre lover. Karen and Val look at each other and back to Ginger and say " Really ?"....Karen says " Kenny Kenny Kenny, No wonder he liked going after the young ones"...Ginger asks " What young ones"....Mac then interrupts to welcome her and Val glares at Karen behind Mac and Ginger....like your spilling the beans shhhhh.
  18. Aaron Spelling agreed with you. They chose Emma Samms. Speaking of the Colby's...for some reason every time Shanna Reed appeared in scenes I was distracted by looking at her nose.
  19. Katzman had that "It's a man's world mentality"....He threw many of the cast members under the bus to cater to Hagman and Duffy. He even ran Phil Capice off the show and overrode Jacobs opinions on the shows direction "Like the stupid dream explanation. Duffy became even more insufferable after his return. I have seen so many outtakes where Duffy and Hagman would screw up scenes in order to "Make A Funny"....here and there it would be OK to lighten things up, but to do that over and over during the freaking entire run holding up cast and crew from getting home on time after a long day, having to work overtime and wasting money. I would have ripped them a new one over that childish crap. Imagine being an actor in the moment nailing a difficult or emotional scene and Duffy or Hagman screwing it all up to make a childish joke and losing your motivation. The re-take may not be as good as the first one might have been.
  20. Carroll Baker & Eva Marie Saint would be excellent choices. Barbara Rush might have worked. Maybe Julie London post Emergency. It seems a lot of Jacobs visions and big ideas never panned out. He said that Pamela Barnes Ewing should have been the most fascinating character he ever created...even though he loved Victoria...she fell flat of what he envisioned.
  21. It seems like I had heard about him going on a rant about something, now I know it was after this appearance. Willie Aames went religious, then when he met his current wife in person after he had corresponded with her for decades that he let it slip she spent the night in his cabin on the cruise ship he was working on. That is supposed to be a no no, but I guess he felt that does not apply to him. LOL at Charo. When she would appear on Love Boat I was hoping she would fall overboard never to be seen again.
