Wow! That drop for Days is astounding. From 7.0 to 4.8.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Margaret Reed (ATWT) was on last night's episode of Pose on FX. She portrays a dowdy suburban housewife who has a run-in with the fierce Elektra Wintour. Her scene with Dominque Jackson is quite memorable.

Are you sure about that? I don't remember Schnetzer going to recurring status. I thought one of the points of killing off Frankie was so that it would open up storyline for Cass and have him go back to his caddish ways.

According to the guy who managed the old Somerset Page, Kubec was the final head writer.

I believe someone on here also mentioned that Pat Randolph was slated to be part of Another World: Houston. That makes sense since Another World was going for a Kevin/Pat/Reena love triangle. I assume Tom King had created the characters of Reena, Kevin, Striker, and Victoria, all of whom appeared on Texas. Apparently, the Corringtons changed some of the details about those characters. I know Striker and Victoria had other children in addition to Reena. I believe they had twin sons and a daughter named Samantha (later made Reena's cousin on Texas). In addition, a fall 1979 synopsis on the Another World Home Page mentions that dialogue was crossed out in one script that referenced Kevin's two grown-up children.

I recall a Daytime TV article about the spinoff early in 1980. The series was then called Another World: Houston. There was no talk at all of Iris moving over to the new soap. Rather, Russ Matthews was going to be a core character. I believe Texas was originally supposed to debut in June.

Vetsoapfan's Treasure Trove: Vintage Soap Material
Thanks so much. These are all incredible reads. I got a chuckle out of Reed praising Armand Assante. Most folks who watched The Doctors in reruns on Retro thought that Assante was terribly miscast as Mike Powers.

Search For Tomorrow Discussion Thread
I personally loved the Liza/Hogan pairing. Forsyth and Mathis had amazing chemistry. What I didn't like was how Avila Mayer and Braxton altered Sunny's character to fit the storyline.

I'm not disputing any of that. Just sharing what we observed in Colorado yesterday. And to our utter disappointment, the media didn't report on it whatsoever.

It turns out that ICE wasn't just going to cities. We're on vacation in Colorado and just had dinner in Breckenridge. The owner of the restaurant told us ICE was in town today. Many staff members at restaurants in Breck didn't come in today out of fear, and many restaurants had to close early because of the staff shortage. He said many of the workers in town who have legit papers to be in the country are in complete fear that they will be deported.

Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
Thanks for continuing to do these! They're all so fascinating. Stephen Newman's Mike Marshall first appeared on Another World, likely in July 1980. He committed suicide on AW and the ramifications of his death continued on Texas. I recall AW airing Mike's funeral service, which was very long.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
To be fair, it was really Doug Marland who introduced the Lewis family. Josh and Trish arrived when Marland was head writer. And Billy and HB were both mentioned by name when Marland was writing. I'm not sure how much of Marland's vision for Billy and HB that Long used. I do remember Billy mentioning his ex-wife Joanna in the summer of 1983. When the character finally showed up that fall, Joanna's named had been changed to Reva.

Best & Worst Soaps: Less than 10 Years On Air Division
Was Edelstein writing HTSAM when David Bachman had his fatal heart attack? I was around 11 at the time and those scenes were riveting. I would love to see Edelsten's stint on HTSAM. I wasn't impressed with his short stint as head writer of The Doctors in the 1969 reruns. There was a noticeable shift in the writing as soon as Rita Lakin left. There was a unique intelligence in the writing when Lakin was there that disappeared as soon as she was gone. I think he only last five or six months before Ira Avery replaced him. I would love to know what Edelstein planned for Julie Forrest, who changed drastically under Ira Avery and Stanley Silverman.

Dick? I remember Mitch Farmer, but I don't recall a character named Dick.

Texas! Discussion Thread
I loved Paige. She was such a great character compared to her drippy sisters Courtney and Dawn. Lisby Larson had incredible chemistry with Daniel Davis as Eliot. It was disappointing that they aborted the Paige/Eliot pairing so quickly.

Texas! Discussion Thread
Paige got involved with TJ Canfield who years earlier had been involved with Ashley. In time, she became an alcoholic and accidentally burned down the Marshall home. A few weeks later, there was a flood and Ashley's car was swept away and she was believed to be dead. I think it was more so Ashley's return that was the miracle, not the birth of Katherine Paige. Gregory, who was Ashley's son by TJ, was certain Ashley would return and so she did at Christmas, carried in the arms of the angel Seth.

ALL: Proposed Soaps Over The Years
As I recall, he did help her create the show and was supposed to be the head writer. Loving, originally titled Love without End, was supposed to debut in March 1983. Wakefield dropped out, Marland replaced him, and the debut was delayed until June 1983.

The soap opera writers' discussion
Out of curiosity, what is the source for her credits? Her Search credit is clearly wrong. Gary Tomlin was head writer for the first part of 1986. Walsh arrived around June 1986 and was there till the end in December 1986, not January 1987. She was also a co-head writer for ATWT.
