  1. I much preferred Richard Niles in the role than Chandler Hill Harben. Harben lacked the intensity and edge that Niles had as Rico. I wonder if Julie was meant to go over to the spinoff. She was set up as quite a schemer and a foil to Carolee. I also wonder how Avery would have gotten Steve over to the spinoff. During the winter of 1970, Steve had split from Carolee and was pursuing Althea. He was hardly in Carolee's orbit at that time.
  2. Avery and Silverman killed off Julie. It was in late August/early September 1970. The Pollocks didn't arrive until October. The Pollocks wrap up the story and Eileen Kearney gives an amazing performance as the truth comes out. I would have loved to see what Eileen would have done with Greta as the character grew up. Julie was all over the map during her one year on the show. She went from seemingly unbalanced to a bad girl, then was somewhat redeemed before she went back to her scheming ways.
  3. Indeed, Peapack is upper crust and beautiful. It's lovely. As I've mentioned before, what could have worked was for Guiding Light to film on occasion in New Brunswick, which isn't far from Peapack. New Brunswick is a bit more similar to what we saw with pre-Peapack Springfield -- a university, hospitals, urban areas, tall buildings, beautiful parks. With Rutgers University (where I work) right in town, they could have used the college setting to re-establish Springfield University.
  4. The revelation had been anticipated for years but Long and Culliton bungled it. The reveal with Phillip learning the truth from Bradley in the country club stables happened sometime in August 1983 as I recall. Within a month, Justin was gone...off to Arizona. The following spring, Alan was written out. So all four of the key adults in the story were gone. Such missed opportunities.
  5. When Samantha was introduced, TV Guide had an excellent article about the casting. The other actresses vying for the role were named and explanations from the show given as to why Suzy Cote was cast.
  6. Yes, with previous writers, there were entire episodes set outside the hospital. And while the current storyline with the Conrads may be wrapping up soon, some of the Conrads will be around for quite some time...through the end of 1977 or early 1978. I clearly remember the set they're using for Paul Summers. The windows are so distinctive and reminiscent of the windows in the Evans cottage on Dark Shadows. I think that set becomes the home of another character in 1977.
  7. Agreed but he never punched him. He missed. The fact that he missed has been referenced on screen a number of times.
  8. Cain Devore was the name of the actor who played Danny, not the character the actor later played on One LI’ve.
  9. As I recall, Jody's mother was named Billie Lorraine. However, when she eventually appeared in 1982 as part of the Eden storyline, the character was named Leonie Travis. The role was played by Delphi Harrington. I have no recollection of Jody ever having a brother. Jody and Nicole shared the same father, Ben Travis. From what I've read on the Edge homepage, Ben was murdered by a mobster named Morlock in 1974. The story synopses don't mention anything about Ben fighting mob crimes. Rather, he was sprung from prison by the mob so that he could sabotage his son-in-law Adam's political career. He seemed to be working as a pawn of the mob until his death.
  10. From what I saw on the Another World Home Page, Jamie was said to have been born in 1960. From reading Paulina's bio, it appears she, too, was born around 1960.
  11. When you refer to Kathy, do you mean the student nurse who is one of Carolee’s charges? Another is Linda Buckley. If so, that’s not Kathy Ryker, the role Nancy Barrett will play. It’s a different Kathy. Kathy Ryker shows up around May 1970 and is played by Carol Pfander. Carol is delightful as the scheming nurse and, in my opinion, is the best Kathy Ryker. Rumor has is that all the student nurses and new characters were slated for the proposed spinoff.
  12. I don't know. I don't see Ann as being mad, like what the Pollocks did with Kathy Ryker. She just seems to have morphed into a vindictive evil schemer. It kind of reminds me what Marland later did with Barbara Ryan on As the World Turns. Tired of being everyone's doormat, Barbara transformed herself. I understand that Nola is about to debut -- probably within the next week of episodes.
  13. We are in June 1976. Jada arrives in early September.
  14. Also, Schultz was on SFT throughout 1986. I can't see her also appearing on ATWT during that period.
  15. It's been a long time but I don't think Jennifer returned to Springfield. She had been written out during the Gene Palumbo/L. Virginia Browne period (winter 1983). I believe she phoned Amanda in August 1983 wanting Matthew back. Amanda and Matthew then left Springfield to join Jennifer.
  16. I think he did shows there. I vaguely recall a bartender or patron mocking him.
  17. Eliot was on The Edge of Night beyond the cult storyline. He arrived in the fall of 1978 with the cult. He then moved onto romances with Raven, Margo, and Nola. Kelly arrived in May 1980. Kelly then took a job working with his puppets at Eliot's club The Unicorn. Eliot pursued Nicole's sister Jody and propositioned her sexually a few times, much to Kelly's ire. Eliot was murdered in October 1980 and Kelly was the main suspect in the murder.
  18. There was, indeed, a montage in the first Peapack episode, albeit it was at the end of the show. It featured a series of clips, including a football game with the Coopers, Remy doing sit-ups (I think), Rick in jail, Reva, Jeffrey, Cassie, and Josh outside the lighthouse (which was suddenly in the middle of the woods). It was all set to the new theme song. The first Peapack episode was a vast improvement of the trial December 2007 episode where characters supposedly got locked in the Springfield Mall. That episode was disastrous.
  19. It actually does happen in real life. I've known a handful of people -- including family -- who changed their first names in adulthood.
  20. No. It means they showed only around 4 1/2 months of episodes since each hour-long episode was split into two half-hour episodes. If I remember correctly, TBS started with the Alex Marshall shooting, which took place sometime in November 1980. So TBS' run took the show probably through around sometime in March 1981.
  21. Here’s Tom’s website where you can find out what he’s been up to: http://www.tomzerega.com/
  22. Burke Moses was in this week's episode of Castle Rock on Hulu. Moses played Curtis Alden on Loving and Bulge on One Life to Live, among other shows.
  23. Nowhere did I say I was a fan of Curlee. In fact, I wasn't watching regularly at that time. I'm not trying to argue; just genuinely curious about how one can determine what was her material and what was the material of her co-head writers.
  24. I'm curious. How can you determine what was Curlee's material and what was the material of her co-head writers (Reilly and Demorest)?
  25. According to the Edge homepage, Mary Lynn Johnson played Viva and Peter Webster played Pietro.
