  1. She was 18 when she arrived in 1980. It’s mentioned on the Edge homepage. TV talk show host? When was that? I have no recollection of that. I recall her dancer phase with Gavin, then acting with Jim. But nothing about a TV show.
  2. Wasn’t it revealed that Long and Hammer were never married? I swear I read that at some point.
  3. July 30 and August 2, 1976. Douglas Marland takes over as head writer in mid-September.
  4. Yep. It was Bill Bell Jr. And the series was titled Coming of Age.
  5. That recap isn't accurate. I definitely remember Jody referring to her mother as Billie Lorraine, not Billie Mae. The Edge website confirms that in a synopsis for July 1980: Jody revealed to Nicole that they're half sisters, since Nicole's father Ben Travis had an affair with Jody's mom Billie Lorraine. When it was time for the mother's appearance in 1982, she was now known as Leonie Travis. And Leonie was definitely Jody's mom, not her stepmother. I'm not sure why the name changed and why the mother was using the surname Travis as she and Ben weren't married. The Edge website has these tidbits in its synopses for March 1982: Jody received word that her mother Leonie Travis is seriously ill. Jody went to Springfield to visit with Leonie, who was smothered to death by thug Joe Bulmer.
  6. She popped up on my Facebook feed recently (a friend of a Facebook friend). If you're on FB, just search for her name. She still looks the same with her long blonde hair. There are pix of her with her new beau.
  7. My friend had told me about the divorce a few years ago. Like I said, he used to work in the industry. He was always good for interesting behind-the-scenes stories. Back in 2013, he had filled me in on the trouble behind the scenes with the AMC and OLTL revivals well before the Prospect Park issues made headlines. He said morale was terribly low way back in March 2013. I also recall him saying that AMC had planned a cutting storyline for Miranda on AMC.
  8. Make that ex-wife. She dumped him. A friend who used to work in the industry said Goutman treated her like crap, just as he did with many personnel at the shows he worked at.
  9. Interesting but factually incorrect. David Lawrence didn't come in until around May/June 1986. John Whitesell was the executive producer who oversaw the revamp, including the flood.
  10. The child, then known as Bert Bauer Ramsey, was born in October/November 1985 when the show was still penned by Long Hammer and Ryder. Long was credited up until around January 1986 when she went on maternity leave. There's an article on this very board that was posted here back in 2010. It was published in Soap Opera Digest in April 1986. The article stated that Long was on maternity leave at that time and might not return. In fact, she moved over over to Search for Tomorrow in mid-1986. She didn't return to Guiding Light until around August 1987. The child was renamed Michelle sometime between her birth in October/November 1985 and spring 1986. There's an episode on YouTube with Maureen and Bea from April 1986 and Mo refers to the baby as Michelle. So the baby was definitely renamed well before Long returned.
  11. Actually Long was still head writer when Michelle was born in 1985. So she named her Bert Bauer Ramsey. If I recall correctly, Fletcher nicknamed her Bibi. Another head writer -- possibly Jeff Ryder -- was the one who changed the child's name to Michelle. I, unlike others, liked the Annabelle story in 1983. But I honestly did not see long-term lasting effects from Bill Bauer being murdered. He was killed and pretty much forgotten. What were the effects that were shown on screen?
  12. I much preferred Richard Niles in the role than Chandler Hill Harben. Harben lacked the intensity and edge that Niles had as Rico. I wonder if Julie was meant to go over to the spinoff. She was set up as quite a schemer and a foil to Carolee. I also wonder how Avery would have gotten Steve over to the spinoff. During the winter of 1970, Steve had split from Carolee and was pursuing Althea. He was hardly in Carolee's orbit at that time.
  13. Avery and Silverman killed off Julie. It was in late August/early September 1970. The Pollocks didn't arrive until October. The Pollocks wrap up the story and Eileen Kearney gives an amazing performance as the truth comes out. I would have loved to see what Eileen would have done with Greta as the character grew up. Julie was all over the map during her one year on the show. She went from seemingly unbalanced to a bad girl, then was somewhat redeemed before she went back to her scheming ways.
  14. Indeed, Peapack is upper crust and beautiful. It's lovely. As I've mentioned before, what could have worked was for Guiding Light to film on occasion in New Brunswick, which isn't far from Peapack. New Brunswick is a bit more similar to what we saw with pre-Peapack Springfield -- a university, hospitals, urban areas, tall buildings, beautiful parks. With Rutgers University (where I work) right in town, they could have used the college setting to re-establish Springfield University.
  15. The revelation had been anticipated for years but Long and Culliton bungled it. The reveal with Phillip learning the truth from Bradley in the country club stables happened sometime in August 1983 as I recall. Within a month, Justin was gone...off to Arizona. The following spring, Alan was written out. So all four of the key adults in the story were gone. Such missed opportunities.
  16. When Samantha was introduced, TV Guide had an excellent article about the casting. The other actresses vying for the role were named and explanations from the show given as to why Suzy Cote was cast.
  17. Yes, with previous writers, there were entire episodes set outside the hospital. And while the current storyline with the Conrads may be wrapping up soon, some of the Conrads will be around for quite some time...through the end of 1977 or early 1978. I clearly remember the set they're using for Paul Summers. The windows are so distinctive and reminiscent of the windows in the Evans cottage on Dark Shadows. I think that set becomes the home of another character in 1977.
  18. Agreed but he never punched him. He missed. The fact that he missed has been referenced on screen a number of times.
  19. Cain Devore was the name of the actor who played Danny, not the character the actor later played on One LI’ve.
  20. As I recall, Jody's mother was named Billie Lorraine. However, when she eventually appeared in 1982 as part of the Eden storyline, the character was named Leonie Travis. The role was played by Delphi Harrington. I have no recollection of Jody ever having a brother. Jody and Nicole shared the same father, Ben Travis. From what I've read on the Edge homepage, Ben was murdered by a mobster named Morlock in 1974. The story synopses don't mention anything about Ben fighting mob crimes. Rather, he was sprung from prison by the mob so that he could sabotage his son-in-law Adam's political career. He seemed to be working as a pawn of the mob until his death.
  21. From what I saw on the Another World Home Page, Jamie was said to have been born in 1960. From reading Paulina's bio, it appears she, too, was born around 1960.
  22. When you refer to Kathy, do you mean the student nurse who is one of Carolee’s charges? Another is Linda Buckley. If so, that’s not Kathy Ryker, the role Nancy Barrett will play. It’s a different Kathy. Kathy Ryker shows up around May 1970 and is played by Carol Pfander. Carol is delightful as the scheming nurse and, in my opinion, is the best Kathy Ryker. Rumor has is that all the student nurses and new characters were slated for the proposed spinoff.
  23. I don't know. I don't see Ann as being mad, like what the Pollocks did with Kathy Ryker. She just seems to have morphed into a vindictive evil schemer. It kind of reminds me what Marland later did with Barbara Ryan on As the World Turns. Tired of being everyone's doormat, Barbara transformed herself. I understand that Nola is about to debut -- probably within the next week of episodes.
  24. We are in June 1976. Jada arrives in early September.
  25. Also, Schultz was on SFT throughout 1986. I can't see her also appearing on ATWT during that period.
