Days of our Lives 1/24/2022 Weekly Preview Promo
I mean, I won't miss Marci Miller, so that's fine lol. YAASSS!!! Do something exciting Belle! Give Sami a reason to actually hate you! For some reason I thought Lani's father was white. I thought that was actually said on the show, but I guess I just made that up.

It has to be a wig. That does not look like human hair. But man, I did not realize PD was 73. I was going to say the hairstyle makes her look old, but I didn't realize she was DH's contemporary lol.

That's more Kristen's thing than Marlena but EM is hot so I wouldn't blame Marlena.. I hate to be that person, but Nancy's hair is awful....What's going on there? I actually like grey hair but this is just bad hair. KS still looks really good. Like too young to be 40 something Chloe's dad lol.

Interesting. ED never looked old enough to be James Scott's mom as Kristen or Susan. I am not sure why anyone would take credit for the racecar driving stuff. That was.......odd with multiple characters being into Nascar briefly lol. I think the most jarring part about Belle/Brady is that they jumped so much in age so quickly. I get Deidre/Drake were a bit older but they sort of stayed in that 40 ish age range for years. I think if they aged Belle/Brady to 10-12 years around the wedding then waited 4-6 months and made them teens it would have been okay, but Belle was played by like 5 year olds at the wedding then went to Kirsten Storms during Jarlena's honeymoon while John/Marlena had a TON of story. It's not like they needed an aged Belle to add to their full plate. Honestly, same with Shawn D. Bo/Hope had a ton going on as well, but he mostly aged in real time so it was okay. Also in theory Belle/Brady were only initially aged about 10 years. Recasts, Claire, and storyline aged them about another 10. I don't think it would be weird if both Shawn/Belle were approaching 40 at this point, but they are closer to 50 with Claire.

Not to get too far into the details of the original possession, but the devil's goal was to corrupt Father John's soul to get greater power and take over the world or whatever. Not necessarily to destroy Salem specifically. John was just the priestly soul it wanted. And the overall point at the end was that John's love for Marlena and vice versa stopped the devil and it's power because their love and goodness was stronger than evil. It was silly to me and not my favorite story, but there was a clear arc and resolution the the story. It went on for about 6 months. Johnny just seems to be screwing with the town just because and as much as I like CB as Johnny it certainly doesn't have the impact of Marlena (the shows main heroine for decades) getting possessed. Plus JER used actual nuance to set up the OG story. I agree there was never any intention of bringing Kristen back at that point nor Susan. Was EJ being Elvis rewritten half way through though? It didn't seem like that was where the show was initially headed.

True, outside of Tom/Alice the main supercouples on the show have all been presumed dead, have had multiple personalities, been brainwashed, murdered people in the past etc. It's not like any popular pairing on this show is normal or even your garden variety soap couple. Julie did marry her mother's husband, so it's not like Brady's moves are unprecedented.

Days of Our Lives: January 2022 Discussion Thread
That's true. I don't think John himself mourned John Jr/EJ as his son for very long. He had a few moments, but was basically too busy getting back with Marlena at that point. A lot of EJ's backstory makes 0 sense, but he was off screen for so long it's easier for me to accept. Although why they didn't just make him some other Stefano unknown child is beyond me. Only on very rare occasions do they mention the John/EJ/Kristen connection as well. It is weird, don't get me wrong, and one of the worst cases of SORASing on all of soaps easily. I feel like (especially recently with Eileen) the audience is reminded a lot more often of John/Kristen's relationship and connection, so her with Brady is icky. With Stacey as Kristen I don't feel that history and bond with Drake/John the way I do with Eileen, so I would say that works better even if ED/EM have better chemistry. Honestly, both couples are equally weird lol Will was born in Nov. 1995, EJ in Feb. 1997.

Honestly, SORASing is one thing. It's not like Sami/EJ really crossed paths when he was a baby. At most, Sami might have met him a few times at Marlena's or John's in passing. It's a crazy amount of SORASing in EJ's case but it didn't necessarily throw me off as much especially with Kristen/Susan off canvas when EJ was first introduced. Brady and Kristen had an established relationship. He was old enough to remember Kristen being with his dad, living with her, her actively trying to be a mother figure to him, and the fact John/Kristen were getting married. None of this really bothers me now, but the context of Brady/Kristen's previous relationship makes it much more skeevy than just weird SORASing.

Tamara Braun deserves better than this. I'd rather see her play boring Kim on GH than have to deal with that. I hope Days pays her well.

I do think she looks a lot younger than Greg Vaughn at least. Xander and Sarah do look close enough in age. I think Sarah is vaguely enough of a blank slate where you can manipulate her age, unlike, say, Belle who's life and age was clearly part of history that is still relevant. Her ageing doesn't bother me as much because no one is like hey, Sarah remember the time you set up your own father to look like he had an affair with you?

If we ever get Noel cast hopefully she could give us an update. I swear I want her cast just because I feel like she's a little slutty and slept with her sister's fiance. I want to meet her more than I want to see LG's Sarah again. I'd rather have Noel than the addition of Gwen. Anyhow, so weird they never tried to get Don back. He could have been a slight spoiler for Marlena/John/Kristen or even shook up Mickey and Maggie for a minute and then moved on to other women in that age range. Don actually had legitimate potential to be brought back in the 90's because there were enough characters he knew and enough for him to be paired with. Lord knows Mickey could use the legal help. He could have come in to help with John's trial or Jack's. I've said this before, but this is literally something that writes itself.

I think Sarah is supposed to be older than LG's age, so she's at least age appropriate to date Eric. But she definitely reads much younger than Belle, Brady, Sami, Eric etc. To me, she feels slightly older than Abby, Chad, Will, but it's hard to pin down her age. For some reason I thought Neil ended up with Liz off screen, but maybe that was in my head lol. I can't imagine characters giving shout outs to Neil and Liz once they were gone. Poor Don. You think he would have had some staying power being Marlena's first husband and all. All but forgotten. I always thought it would have been cool for him to come back in the mid 90's and maybe casually woo Marlena while John was busy with Kristen, but ultimately end up romancing Laura/Kate/Vivian etc. For some reason Laura/Don/Vivian sounds so fun to me and obviously JA was still open to doing soaps.

Yeah, I assumed he was retired years ago. He's definitely a forgotten character. I just thought 2-3 years ago when they introduced Sarah (and had the possibility of Noel coming back) he could briefly come back at least to help the introduction. Was Neil reunited with Liz when he left? I honestly don't even remember him leaving. Yeah, they de-aged Sarah a lot. She was older than Carrie in 1990 and is now presumably younger than Belle and Brady who weren't even born when she left as a teen.

DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
Yeah, I get that. It was convenient for the plot at the time, but it really had no long term fallout or effects. Neil and Sarah were gone soon after and like Maggie/Neil were just a blip on the Mickey/Maggie radar. I honestly don't think it matters who Sarah's dad is-that was just a weird choice. I just can't think of a better long term choice unless it was randomly Victor or something down the road when Maggie/Victor first hooked up. I mean, I have no idea if Joe Gallison wants to work but they could have brought him back when Sarah came back instead of vaguely killing him off screen.

Weird in the fact they chose Neil as the new dad, but in the scheme of things Evan being Sarah's dad wasn't important or relevant because he was a long forgotten character. I think the point was to make Sarah's paternity a story and something that was a current issue. Neil was just a bizarre choice because it didn't make sense in actuality but made sense as conflict in the story at that moment in time.

Yeah, I don't want to deviate either, but I don't think Peter was evil. Definitely a shade of grey character, but I thought the John stuff was more to appease Stefano than him actually completely being on the dark side. I thought the show could have gone either way with him. Like he could have been changed by Jen's love. But YMMV on that.

Soap opera suicides
Tony/Andre on Days when he killed himself to frame John. Obviously, that's been undone, but it did hold up as how Tony died for several years. Didn't Andre have a terminal illness? Whatever happened to that?

General Hospital January 2022 Discussion Thread
Sonny went off his meds when Brenda left him and went crazy and tried to kill Jax and accidently shot Robin. I know that was literally over a decade ago, but outside of an 'excuse' to sleep with Nina do we need this story again?

Days of Our Lives: January 2022 Discussion Thread
Hmmm...I mean that actually makes sense. Lexie, Kristen, and Peter all started as good people, so it could be kicking in now. I would still think EJ should not want that for Johnny, but it is what it is. Johnny isn't really trying to hide the fact his personality entirely changed in a week though.

Days of Our Lives: January 2022 Discussion Thread
It seems like an extreme underreaction and I know EJ has things going on to worry about, but he should be a little concerned. I don't think he should jump to the conclusion of the devil being in Johnny, but maybe less amused by him being openly awful than he is lol

Days of Our Lives: January 2022 Discussion Thread
I liked today's show. It wasn't amazing, but I liked Nicole/Belle having scenes. I don't recall them interacting too often. I don't like Ava/Tripp, but at least it's someone Ava should be in scenes with. Allie/Chanel were okay-nothing special. I do seriously judge EJ as a parent when he looks at Johnny's behavior and thinks it's all perfectly normal lol.

Days of Our Lives: January 2022 Discussion Thread
Nothing happened on today's episode that was special for EJ/Belle. They just have an interesting banter and some chemistry. I would obviously break her up with Shawn. Over her not being able to handle Jan being pregnant or a devil misunderstanding or something.
-
Days of Our Lives: January 2022 Discussion Thread
So I know we were all vaguely joking about EJ/Belle, but I do kind of hope they go there after today's episode. Jan could be pregnant, Belle sleeps with EJ because Nicole is with Rafe, the truth comes out about Lucas, Sami comes back, etc. That would actually be good drama.

Even worse, one of BB's rare appearances was wasted talking to them about it.
