Days of Our Lives: February 2022 Discussion Thread
Lol! I thought it was cute. It looks weird here, but when she put it on in the Pub yesterday I liked it. Also, I know RC didn't know but what a lame way to go on the Olympic break. They couldn't have added something in?

Days of Our Lives: February 2022 Discussion Thread
Well, it's the price they had to pay for beauty. Yeah, I don't know. It's really stupid. Pathetic for Craig to spend half his life denying his feelings and lying to Nancy. Him being bi and cheating is enough to ruin the marriage. I am assuming RC thinks this is maximum impact for the reveal, but it's just a joke. Especially if

The only idea I had is Julie somehow gets entangled with Victor via Bo/Hope and maybe move that into possible romance since they did almost test that later on, but the Bo/Hope parental stuff would have dried up a few years later too when they left. It so hard to guess. A good writer could do it but the show was so Marlena/Brady/adventure/youth focus it's hard to imagine for me. I see them mostly used in a capacity as Doug Place's owners where they were there when things happened and just peripherally involved.

Yes. It would make more sense if Stefano did, but I surmise not since the devil threw him off a roof lol. Say what you will about Cin, but that most likely will be a gorgeous baby. I am actually glad they aren't saddling Johnny/Chanel with a kid as well because they give these characters all kids so young.

Days of Our Lives: February 2022 Discussion Thread
I thought the exact same thing about Johnny/Chanel having a baby and it being easier, but I am wondering if there is something specific about Ben being the father. MarDevil was very persistent about Ben being a father. Nancy specifically said something about dumping the chowder on Craig's pants while ranting. I think it was intentional.

Days of Our Lives: February 2022 Discussion Thread
Oh I am clearly one of those people who are against the story, but I am trying to think of ways that are less offensive to tell if you have to. Nancy's not exactly a shrinking violet and Chloe is acting like she will cease to exist when Craig leaves her lol.

Days of Our Lives: February 2022 Discussion Thread
I thought Nancy had Chloe at 16. I can't recall if they were together the entire time (clearly not or she couldn't hide a pregnancy lol), but I thought they were together in college and his excuse was they weren't married yet-not that they weren't together. But it's semantics I guess. PD and KS did a good job, but in no way does this make Craig less of an assh*le and I don't really feel for him at all. Also I could do without Chloe saying Craig was Nancy's whole life. Hasn't the woman been crapped on enough? Now she has no life without her husband. Ugh... I think I would like this better if Nancy and Craig came to town to tell Chloe they were divorcing and explaining it together and dropping the cheating aspect. I know it's not as dramatic, but a different story to tell. Nancy/Craig amicably parting and Nancy reluctantly helping him and supporting him in his journey, but Chloe being the one more upset and judging and Joy being a hellion in boarding school because she's so troubled by the news.

At least they gave Craig some offscreen context and history with this I guess. At least JoDevil remembered he wanted Ciara/Ben's baby today.

GENERAL HOSPITAL February 2022 Discussion Thread
True. But it would fall in line with Alexis's awful choice in love interests. I don't think it needs to be Harmony. They could test the waters with her and Alexis figures a few things out about herself and finds someone else. Idk, it would be more exciting than her lather, rinse, repeat disastrous love life she's had since Ned. I doubt GH would ever go there with her though.

GENERAL HOSPITAL February 2022 Discussion Thread
Count me in as someone who wouldn't mind seeing this story for Alexis. I could definitely see it working more organically than it is with Craig on Days. A lot of Alexis's choices in romance and life could be motivated by the fact she never felt like herself. I am not sure how the audience would react, but I wouldn't mind it. It would be a good story for NLG.

GENERAL HOSPITAL February 2022 Discussion Thread
Yeah it was weird, but at least Sonny and Ned do actually know one another and have for a long time. They have never been friends but they have been heavily in one another's orbits and I don't mind their scenes. Agree with everyone the Chad Duell stuff sounds weird, but maybe he's thinks he saving face for both of them by saying it wasn't a legal marriage. Things happen, but it is suspect he had two extremely short "marriages" Didn't he annul the other one so I guess Chad has never been married.

Days of Our Lives: January 2022 Discussion Thread
Lol! Brady likes signing, musicals, opera and all those things-the person Chloe was married to and talking to. Stupid dialogue and stupid reasoning. Roman had some weird lines today. The EJ ones and the initial Nancy/Craig stuff. He's still mad on Carrie's behalf about something they did 20 years ago? I don't think Carrie even cares anymore and hasn't for about 19 years lol. I don't know what to think about Sarah's behavior. I am slightly interested in this. And Xander proposing to Gwen with Sarah's ring. The show isn't even pretending we should root for Xander/Gwen. Talk about the tackiest, most insensitive thing.

General Hospital January 2022 Discussion Thread
Who knows what goes on in people's personal lives? It's probably best for both that it's not legal, although it's really odd to have an elaborate wedding for it to be for show. You are right. I was generally curious to hear other peoples points of views. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful. I thought the teens were just being dumb and didn't think about the entire view of the situation.

Nothing about Maggie's retconned history makes a lot of sense and didn't add anything to the character. Yeah, I don't get that choice with Sarah. It's not like they couldn't have found a more age appropriate actress. An actress 10 years older than her wouldn't have changed the story that much. PT is in his 40's. Kristen was in her 50's when the whole baby switch happened. But again, I think this a situation where Sarah is supposed to be older than LG. That all sounds really good. To be fair back then of course I don't think writers/producers etc would imagine the show would still be on today and Mike's paternity went on for an insane amount of time for a soap. The direction of Days changed so much in the 80's to be so youth focused that I don't think anyone considered how it would age Julie.

Mothers Favoring One Son Over the Other
I feel like once she found out they were her kids she bent over backwards to make Austin/Billie happy. She was always weirdly invested in their love lives, gave them jobs, and I felt like Lucas was forgotten for awhile. You can see it from both views because she has done a ton of stuff for Lucas as well, but I personally always felt she wanted Austin to get everything he wanted more than her other kids.

MTW and RC are the same age pretty much and there is about a decade between them and Wesley Eure. He became a Dr in his time away, so I don't think we were supposed to think Mike was any younger. I do think RC looked really young and hung out with people who weren't born yet when he was a grown man and that made him seem younger as well. The only true de-aging I can think of is Sarah because she was born 40 years ago on screen. I know kids SORASing is a joke on Days, but I don't think anyone except Sarah is younger than when they were actually born.

Mothers Favoring One Son Over the Other
Kate from Days is the first person I thought of. Not so much now, but in the 90's it's clear Austin was her golden child. She didn't even make it a secret. Carly on GH clearly loves Michael the best. I don't even know where her baby is most of the time.

GH: Classic Thread
See I think the show did build them up, but I don't know how you can really ever move past that. I will never not think Sonny would have just forgot about her if she didn't get pregnant-but the show told me otherwise so I briefly got on that train. Sonny/Carly were a great idea at the time, but if I had known I'd be watching the Sonny/Carly/Jason show for the next 20 years I probably wouldn't have been as enthusiastic. The moment Sonny shot her in the head is when I was done lol. I think they were still rootable even throughout Brenda's return. I could see why they were popular and they had chemistry. I think the Alcazar and Sam stuff and the way that was played out on top of Carson having some very nutty fans online just turned me off. And I thought Carly/Jax were just so much better together once LW took over. I have never hated Sonny/Carly really but I haven't been a fan since then.
-
GH: Classic Thread
I would say Sonny's reasoning for sleeping with Carly to prove what a slut she is to Jason is problematic to say the least, but early Carson is so good. It's disappointing they've lost those layers they had as a couple. We've had this conversation so I won't go too far in to it, but this scene literally proves why they should not be the shows leading romantic love story.

DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
I think this was more of a problem then David being SORAS'ed. I am not sure if the show intended to do this or not, but Julie was more or less sidelined when Marlena became the big thing. I think Marlena as a character offered more possibilities in exec/writers minds because she was more of a blank slate and Julie was going to end up with Doug because they were a supercouple and married in real life and had gone through a ton of story. I genuinely do think Marlena/Julie started out the same age because they were both Don's love interests. BUT i also think the show made Marlena too old when they introduced her. Obviously, Marlena was a smaller role and meant to be temporary, but she was already an established, respected psychiatrist when she first appeared so then the show had to keep backtracking on her age because she was already presumably 30ish when she was introduced and I don't think even Deidre was 30 when she started. And it was always weird to me when the show pushed Hope/Marlena as Bff in the 2000s when Bo/John were close but Hope was a teenager when Marlena was already twice married and they weren't that close lol.

DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
I think people and especially soap watchers find it odd for a couple to consciously make the choice not to have kids. I have been married for 15 years and still get the why don't you have kids question and it's just our choice, but people never stop asking. I am just not sure it relates to viewers that well if that makes sense. Also justice for Dougie. Why has he never been brought back lol

All: character may be killed off
I mean calling Cin a supercouple is a stretch but I get your point. But think of the characters on Days specifically that just flounder when their other half is gone (Hope, 90's Kayla come to mind) because the audience doesn't really want them to move on but they have to so they just become stuck as well. And Ben has like no point without Ciara and i can't feel bad for RSW because he got a second life on Days after being an actual SERIAL KILLER.

DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
Sami became a grandma in her 30's and it didn't age her too bad. But they never styled her as a grandma of course. Suzanne has a nice look that does feel younger. And Kate/Marlena dress pretty bad, but also project younger. I know Koslow is a decade younger but she seems at least 20 years younger. Anyway, styling aside, they made Julie older by taking her out of being Maggie/Marlena's contemporary (even though she previously was) and making her 'older' than them when she didn't have to be. Like she became Hope's de facto mom when Marlena actually moved on to be Hope's peer even though they weren't the same ages but the show told us they were vaguely in a similar age range. My rambling point is I think they could have easily made more of the connection between Marlena, Laura, Maggie etc and integrated her with Kate/Vivian instead of making her seem older than them. Sure why not? I would buy it if it was a halfway decent story.

All: character may be killed off
I think you are right. Evan was the 1986 baby, but I kept seeing things on twitter about Ben/Marlena and I don't think there was ever even real rumors on that just stans being stans.
