  1. I don't see how it would be hard to find a Nik recast either. He's not the complex character he once was and doesn't GH have at least two temp Niks they could use? Anyhow, I don't think it's fair to throw Tyler's past in his face nor do I think TC's the answer either. I am with @Darn. There are plenty of dark haired guys in their mid 40's that could play Nik well.
  2. I'd believe it lol. There is no other explanation. There is nothing terribly exciting about Wednesday or Thursdays episodes, so good luck lol. I am mildly excited about Ava trying to blow up the church though.
  3. I really didn't need any entire episode talking about Brady accidently kissing Sister Mary Moira. I actually like SH's Kristen and John's interactions. They have good chemistry playing off one another. How sad was Susan's memorial? They really couldn't have gotten Chad, Tony, Anna, Stefan, etc to come? Lol I know the show explained but 4 people? C'mon... How did Marlena change without going home? In her car? She was wearing a different outfit when she was with John and she didn't go home with John. MAGIC!!
  4. I liked him best in the 90's as well, but Geary really tried to distance Luke from that. Luke has made it seem like being married to Laura was a stifling chore, but we actually saw something much different on the show. I find Laura/Kevin pretty dull, but I am okay with her moving on from Luke. Although, if GH goes off the air I do see Luke/Laura as endgame.
  5. It was after Ethan turned out to be Luke's son with Holly. Luke admitted to cheating several times throughout the years after that and (I think?) implied Laura knew. It's all tied in with the retcon that Laura was too boring for Luke and wanted him to settle down and he was unhappy his entire marriage. Blah, blah, blah lol. This really isn't a huge deal in the scheme of things on Days, but I hated the retcon of Alex North being Marlena's first husband. It was an awful story and it literally invalidated all Marlena's marriages. And to add insult to injury they used old Roman/Marlena flashbacks for Alex/Marlena. Days is full of silly retcons, but for some reason that story really stuck with me as being extra bad.
  6. Yes, the problem is she's not Eileen, but Ron didn't get the memo. I think SH is talented, but she's not ED and she never will be. SH does not need to be playing multiple characters. No one needs Sister Mary Moira in their lives. It's just wasted time on our screens and I think Ron thinks it's cheeky or funny, but it's not.
  7. @Soapsuds Good to see you back! I've missed you😚 I have made no bones about hating Sloane and the actress, but I like Eric/Sloane too lol! They have a nice chemistry and I like seeing a slightly different side to Sloane. She was so one note before. I think Sloan/Eric have more chemistry than Eric/Jada did. The Xander/Bonnie stuff is so silly. Out of all the kidnappings in Salem, Bonnie's 24 hour hostage crisis with a clown gives her PTSD? I don't know how Marlena even wakes up in the morning with all her kidnappings lol. Listen, if SH can play multiple characters and not play a single one convincingly, Mike Manning/Charlie can get a twin or doppelganger.
  8. I honestly think John Black took his priesthood and vows more seriously than Eric did. Not that I think Eric was like that while he was a Priest, but his lack of concern over being fired (again) from the Church is so strange. Eric was sad, but it felt like he was more sad over the lack of employment than being thrown out of the Priesthood. You would think he would have a huge moral dilemma over that and speak more to the loss of that calling instead of starting to hook up with random women. It was never a good occupation for Eric and I am not sure why RC went back to it other than the Possession.
  9. I definitely agree about Eric's most interesting period being when he was drunk. Sami and Brady get so much more depth that Eric feels forgotten. Even Belle, in theory, has more depth. Eric has never gotten a romantic relationship that worked or felt important the way him and Nicole do. I understand it's popular, but only Jen/Eric got real writing and that was never meant to be anything more than tragic. Again, agree about the family connections. Eric has nice scenes with Marlena/Roman/John, but I have never felt the connection Sami, Brady, Carrie, or Belle have with them. Anyhow, it is bizarre Nicole is getting blame for this abortion even in a roundabout way. Jada is a grown woman that wasn't ready to have a child if she was so easily swayed by one conversation with Nicole.
  10. Yes, I found the scene with the nanny breaking her arm strange too. I get Lenny's point and Lisa wasn't listening to him at all, but he was such a condescending jerk to her. And to just get the nanny some ice and an uber? They could have dropped the women off themselves or had one of their employees drive her. I have mixed feelings about Lisa acting out. I do believe there were problems, but I also believed she thought they had solved them or would solve them. I don't think she would go on and on about how great her marriage was if she thought it was in that big of trouble. And, honestly, Lenny has always low key seemed to hate Lisa lol. He's always seemed like an ass. I guess because he is lol.
  11. I loved Miami's premiere and I have always been lukewarm on the show. I am really confused about Lenny's hot mic moment. Was he begging to get caught? He knew he was micced and said that's why I am whispering. He's not an idiot. He had to know the show would use that. I genuinely feel bad for Lisa. I don't think she's the greatest wife or anything, but it's clear she did love him and was blindsided by all of this.
  12. Well GV is right lol. JA's Eric was probably even more boring than GV's though. I actually thought Eric was more interesting when he was an addict and hooking up with Jen. Overall, I don't mind Eric/GV or his stories, I just wish there was a little more to Eric.
  13. It's nothing against GV. I have thought Eric's always lacked depth even when Jensen was playing him. I know it's probably an attempt to make Eric so different from Sami, but he comes off dull and boring a lot. I also have always thought Brady and Eric were a little too similar and fill nearly the same role.
  14. Oh, definitely. In theory all of Roman/Marlena's kids should be much closer to John than they are. Although I do believe Marlena's parents raised him longer than RoJohn (with SORASing it's unclear) It also would be nice if Eric expounded on why he stayed in Colorado so long (i.e. running away from his parents divorce, the hot mess that was his twin, etc). But....I have never found Eric to have the depth I think he should have because of his upbringing and what not.
  15. Good point. Although, I have never felt Eric was super close to Marlena or Roman. Maybe it's because GV never truly clicked with them and Eric was gone for so long. We watched Carrie/Sami/Belle/Brady grow up or at least watched their teen years. Eric showed up as an adult and has always felt more removed and independent from his family. I don't even buy his bond with Sami. I'd almost say it's part of his character, but I doubt the writers have that depth.
  16. It is remarkable that nothing replaced SB. Which leads me to believe none of these pilots/developments were much good lol. And I still think it would be very risky to take Marlena/Carrie off Days for a spinoff.
  17. Briefly skimming synopsis for that time the last week of May appears to be when Hope/Gina is revealed to all and the climax/ending of Maison Blanche (Roman saving John/Marlena, Tony getting blinded, Stefano's escape). The only other stories of note I could see was Sami's rape and Vivian finding out she's pregnant with Phillip. I think it's safe to say you can attribute at least some of the jump to KA's return.
  18. You would think a jump from #8 to #2 would be more than 10% lol. But I think we can all agree the oppurtunity was squandered especially after Marlena/RoJohn's great pier reunion. RoJohn just left her in a flea bag motel and nothing really happened until RealRoman returned and even that was so convoluted. I think I have said here more than once that story somehow was so quick and not explained well but also seemed to drag on forever lol. There was also some weird stories happening at the time that weren't interesting to bring in new viewers. I don't want to get my time periods off and name them, but everything else happening was kind of boring unless you were a big Carly fan. I would like to know what the ratings were for Hope's return as well, but I think it's a bit of a different animal because 1. it was Kristian Alfonso returning not Hope specifically at the time and 2. the huge story arc of Maison Blanche was ending and I don't think it's as clear as Deidre Hall returning as Marlena. I don't recall anything "big" happening at the same time as her return. I do think the ratings were on an upswing back in 1994 though or at least they should have been because that was a great time period for Days. Hope/Gina's return seem to fit more seamlessly into to the show overall while Deidre's felt like Deidre as Marlena was returning if that makes sense lol.
  19. Honestly, there is probably a big difference between a pilot or development deal being "dead" to execs and officially dead and I guess Manhattan Lives was one of those things. I think articles have actually been quoted here that aren't just SOD speculation, but Corday or someone talking about it well past 1991 but I am too lazy to look it up lol. I still think it was an idea that was kept around in case it was needed. In actual theory it would make much more sense for Marlena and Carrie (who wasn't even around when Doc/RealRoman returned) to 'start over' post Marlena's affair/divorce, but it doesn't really matter anymore I guess. It's fun to speculate though. @j swiftI believe the ratings spiked a lot initially when Marlena returned. I think I read the week she returned Days was #2, but it quickly petered out because the Tale of 2 Romans is awful. And it is weird RoJohn was so gunho to find out what happened to Marlena while she was gone and it was dropped suddenly. I can absolutely see why it the show didn't keep the audience, but I do think there was a lot of view interest in the returns at least initially.
  20. I agree it was mostly a Dee Hall vanity project tied to her return in 1991, but it wasn't something that was going to happen at the time. It was in development forever, but people were working on it. It didn't die in 1991-it was still being talked about in mags for a few years after that. From what I have pieced together I believe it was slated to replace a struggling AW in 1994-95 ish if picked up. So from my understanding, it would have taken place after the Affair and Belle would have obviously gone with Marlena. I don't think Roman (WN) was ever tied officially to the spinoff. I think his presence was more assumed or discussed by writers/press, but Wayne didn't really have any involvement. As far as Isabella/RoJohn and John's future story-Isabella would have been dead by the time any spinoff would have happened (even if they started developing in 1991) and John/Kristen/Tony would have been the story. Obviously, the show would have been completely different, but I think the focus could have been shifted to Bo/Hope/Billie instead of John/Marlena/Kristen. I think by the time JER honed in on the Possession idea-Manhattan Lives was all but dead except in theory. Why would Deidre even want to leave when she was going to be the main star of the mother show? Anyway, I think the Aremid spinoff was either an alternative idea for an AW replacement to compete against Sunset Beach or an early pre-cursor to JER's Passions. Regardless, AW was picked up and MR left so that's that. I don't think an Aremid spinoff would have ever beaten out a Spelling backed show regardless though. Of course this is all just from things I have read over the years and not a definitive truth, but I think ML was a real concept and the Aremid spinoff was at best an idea.
  21. I have seen Days commercials once or twice while watching other programming on Peacock.
  22. I don't think Sarah was realistically his love interest. I perceived her more as his friend/confidant I didn't get the vibe that Jack had any romantic interest in her. Jack didn't have a lot of friends at the time and I think it was a way to tie a new character to a current cast member and flesh Sarah out a bit. The show appeared to put her in publicity shots with the 'younger' set, so I think there were plans to move Sarah into a more age-appropriate sphere. Once again though I have no idea what the Aremid spinoff was about. At least with Manhattan Lives, we got a rough outline of the story and characters. It appears that spinoff was more fleshed out.
  23. I think JJ's Lucky has been gone long enough for GV to be fine. He played such a different Lucky, but his Lucky is better than no Lucky at all.
  24. I don't really know what the Aremid spinoff would have been about. I only remember hearing about it in one of the mags, but I never recall reading what the premise would be lol. To this day, I have never heard any more details than who would be in it. I guess Peter/Jack/Jen and maybe Laura? would be moved to Aremid. The Parrotman, Rachel Blake, and Sarah weren't very interesting, so I don't know why they were added. I did like Jude St. Clair though.
  25. I think Sarah was going to be part of the Aremid spinoff idea that was floated around before Missy left. I don't recall Sarah having anything to do with Carrie/Austin/Sami/Lucas although they may have shared scenes in passing. I actually don't remember Sami/Lucas even being part of Aremid.
