General Hospital: November 2022 Discussion Thread
I just don't even understand why Sonny's on most episodes. He doesn't do anything of importance. I swear he spent 3 full episodes listening to Nina's dumb assumptions about things. MB/Sonny isn't everyone's fave, but he deserves more than that. Selina Wu's monotone voice annoys me too lol. Is it supposed to be sinister? I have always felt Esme and Nelle were almost the same character and Esme has none of the spark CL's Nelle did. Obviously a Brenda return would be ideal in my world. It's been clear for a few years that would be the next logical arc for Sonny. But FV apparently hates VM/Brenda or something lol. CW/MB do have decent chemistry, but they don't have a compelling story at all. I much prefer Carly/Sonny contained together, but the show seems to be able to give Carly different things to do and seem to be at a loss with Sonny. I wouldn't be against resting Sonny for a bit, but MB is on 4 times a week so he might as well not be wasting my time.

MC's Nik always seems so dumb. I like the recast. Am I the only one who finds Nina to be the most annoying character on the show currently? There are a lot of characters I dislike, but I cannot stand Nina and her stupid assumptions and just her in general. I know she's not the worst character on this show by far, but I find her to be so grating. Also if Sonny is going to be on everyday I need him to do something. I swear he's been sitting at table waiting for Nina for 3 episodes and last week he was wandering around the hospital for like 2 episodes acting like Gossip Girl over Willow/TJ. I can't believe I am advocating for a "Sonny" storyline, but since he is going to be on regardless give him something to do besides taking up space.

Thanks! It's a lot more clear when Chad and Kate are sitting on the couch, but I have no screenshot so that's not helpful unless you are watching lol. I have to assume it's Henry.

The Chanel reveal was lame. The actors did well, but why on earth would I care about Sloane's mother? I am sort of wondering (like Sloane) why it was covered up. It seems accidental to me. Wendy and Johnny are pretty cute together. This is probably a silly question, but who is the baby in the picture behind Chad at the Horton house today? Henry?

Agree about Paulina. It's...not funny and let's pretend this governor thing is real. That's immediate grounds for a huge lawsuit and another scandal. And I think it's trying to be sassy, but her own daughter is part of the LGBTQ community, so it just comes off extremely offensive and also so dated..

How long is Nik recast for? I have to agree with everyone about Mo's son. He's more than not good, he's embarrassingly out of place bad. Joss/Dex are really getting the Liason or Sonny/Brenda "hurt in a mob mission/have to secretly be taken care of" beginning aren't they? I don't know if I see much chemistry but it's clear Cam is going to be the odd one out soon. Trina and Spencer really do move at a snail's pace. This conversation they were having yesterday was overdue, but moved so slowly throughout the episode. I feel like we could have cut some Curtis/hat Dad or Joss/Mo Jr. scenes to give Sprina more airtime.

I know Rafe's basically right, but, I mean, c'mon, Rafe's been married numerous times. Does he value marriage vows that much either lol? Thanks! I couldn't recall if Brady just knew they were in love or if they hooked up before Nicole told Brady. I hated that story-or just Brady in that story. Did Nicole cheat on EJ? Obviously, stealing a baby is worse, but I don't think she cheated lol. My Nicole history gets very muddled though. She's had so many love interests and marriages-which is also something Rafe should have been quite aware of when he married her.

Soap Opera It Girls
Definitely. Days had several leading ladies in the 90's that could be considered. I haven't even mentioned MR's Jen, who was certainly an it girl as well in that time period. That's a great one! Absolutely.

Soap Opera It Girls
Well, Sam got a lot of airtime, but she never really developed a personality outside being Jason's appendage. But her and Dante barely appear anymore. I still can't believe how little the show uses Dante and a decade ago you couldn't get a day off from him.

Days winter spoiler video
Like I said, it is almost jarring to see how good she was in her early Days work. She's a very effective performer and it's easy to see why she became such a popular character. I don't think the years acting opposite of Drake have helped her much, but I am the same as you-happy whenever she pops up on my screen.

Soap Opera It Girls
Well, Courtney didn't lol. But she was his sister. Sonny/Jason pairings do equate airtime, but they seem to disappear once they break up with them.

Did Nicole full blown cheat with Eric before she dumped Brady? I can't remember. Not that I care about Rafe or Rafe/Nicole at all, but they really did set up Nicole/Rafe forever as a big love story then immediately dropped it when GV returned lol. I was laughing when Rafe was pouting in the corner when Nicole gave the ring back. I am sure GG is a very nice man, but Rafe is so unlikeable. Also, is he just going to leave the ring in the hospital waiting room? I hope Sarah finds it so she can pawn it for an apartment

RIP John Aniston. Victor will be missed! Yeah, there is no reason for Lani to show up since she should still be in jail. Rafe getting dumped today was so enjoyable lol. He has a right to be angry, but I applaud Nicole for actually doing the mature thing and breaking up with him before (too much) cheating. The Jada/Eric/Nicole/Rafe quad is finally getting interesting. I literally forgot Gwen was on this show until she showed up in today's episode. She really has no point. Why does she care if Xander is lying about his job?

Days winter spoiler video
Yeah, I wouldn't say Dee's acting choices bother me. She's been doing that gaspy stuff for years. I hardly even notice it anymore. I don't know why she started making those choices, but I didn't notice anything in this promo that was different that her usual camp lol.

Soap Opera It Girls
Obviously, MyGirl Vanessa owns this thread, but she was a moment/icon/legend......that GH cares nothing about these days lol. Carly definitely has been the it girl for longer, but GH is weird. Sam, Courtney, Kate/Connie, Emily, etc. all were it girls for awhile but then went away. I would argue as long as Dee's been on Days (post-1980) she was always the "it girl" even now. Except for 1992, I can't remember a moment she was truly backburned. I also considered Kim more important that Kayla. She had all the drama. I would also say Christie Clark's Carrie, Lisa Rinna's Billie, CC's Carly, and KS's Belle were very much it girls in their time, but didn't last.

Days winter spoiler video
DH has been cringey for years. I love it, but it's shocking when you watch old clips and she's actually really good at acting lol. It's not like Drake where he never was very good at the acting. Deidre has just given up, but at 75 whatever. I personally would have retired years ago, so I appreciate her still showing up.

Aww! So sweet thinking of me. I am telling you this thread would be a happier place if a shirtless EJ kidnapped a shirtless Tripp and a shirtless Sonny and Will had to rescue him! There would be world peace, no drama, and a 10 year Days pickup on Peacock🤣

DAYS: November 2022 Discussion Thread ⌛
Thanks! Unless Tripp was shirtless while kidnapped, I think I'll pass lol But if he was shirtless make sure you drop a screenshot in here. 🤣 Good news! I am sort of surprised, but sort of not. Peacock doesn't really have a whole lot else to offer as far as originally programming with any following.

Anyone watch today's episode? Was it any good less bad than usual? I haven't watched and don't really have any desire.

If Leo had just come back like this after the Diane/John story I think it could have worked. I honestly felt some sympathy for him at the end when he thought/hoped John was his father. He even was the hero (sorta) in Beyond Salem. Honestly, I can't take him seriously now. And it's not like the show couldn't cast another guy (or bring back Paul) for Sonny.

Best/Worst Written Soap Affairs
Wasn't it basically just universally hated by critics and the audience though?

DAYS: November 2022 Discussion Thread ⌛
Yes! Not to mention it seems so strange Eric entered what I can only consider at this point to be a casual sexual/romantic relationship so fast. The man got fired from the PRIESTHOOD like 6 months ago. Did Eric/Jada do anything more than share a run and coffee before they jumped into bed together lol?

Sloane is mostly a miss for me, but she didn't bother me today. Why was the pub so dark though? It's like half the lighting was missing and Sloane was lit fine, but Chad was in the dark and so were the other patrons lol. Ron and Jamey clearly find Leo much more entertaining than everyone else in the world. And honestly, unless Chanel killed Stefano Dimera himself with her bare hands as a teen I don't get all the suspense about her "murder" victim. I haven't read spoilers so it could be something good, but I assume it's just an abusive ex boyfriend or something.

DAYS: November 2022 Discussion Thread ⌛
I agree that Days need new breakdown writers ASAP. The Doug/Julie stuff was just randomly thrown into an otherwise basic episode with Chanel, Leo, Allie, Alex etc. I would have set the episode up with Doug/Julie and their flashback, add John/Marlena and Kayla/Steve each reminiscing about something important to them-they could even be telling it to Belle or Stephanie/Tripp/Joey respectively, have Maggie think about Mickey (perhaps equating a struggle Mickey/Maggie had to help Sarah/Xander), and then have Abe tell Paulina an important moment from history. Voila! A full anniversary episode. I don't know why 1 entire episode couldn't be devoted to honoring the show's history. I know I could have waited an extra day to see what Sloane and Leo were doing. It was truly the most minimal effort on Ron's part here.

DAYS: November 2022 Discussion Thread ⌛
It's just odd. They could show those og flashbacks as some sort of sidenote and cut OG Julie out, but Days has more veterans than any other soap. They couldn't use actual flashbacks of those people? Lol! It's not like this show doesn't have a boatload of actors that have been on this show for 20 plus years or anything...... Were we just supposed to not notice it was a different Julie because SSH is old now and CD does/did look like her 55 years ago?
