  1. The Royals continue on their disastrous 'goodwill- don't-leave-us’ tour and scathing responses like these continue to be presented publicly. 🔥
  2. There was an article about the CNN+ “implosion” in the NYT and it outlined some of the mistakes the network make with launching a streaming service before the merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery had completed, knowing that a merger would, in effect, be a new company with new and different priorities and a shifted focus. IMO, also believe that the timing was poor for a launch of another paid streaming service. Had it been based on a FAST streaming model, that would have been a different concept, but one that might have gotten some support from the new merged corporation but FAST would have been unable to support that very expensive “star-studded” lineup. A FAST CNN+ service would have started out humble with perhaps one fairly well known journalist and other experience and intrepid reporters covering events and news that receive less media coverage, news that is not splashy but important nevertheless. But CNN+ wanted travel shows with sex appeal and big name ‘talking heads’.
  3. My main contention about the ban is that the players should have been at least notified beforehand. To my knowledge, they were not.
  4. Although I know that Pam wasn’t everybody’s favorite, Robin did some really good work with actors like Larry Bryggman, Elizabeth Hubbard and Jennifer Ashe. Here is one scene between Pam (Robin Morse) and Lucinda (Elizabeth Hubbard) that was very understated yet memorable for me. It begins at 37:28. Lucinda sounds like a Shakespearean character, “I am abandon-Ed”.
  5. It might be too much to ask but can we please get some video clips? It’s a touching idea nonetheless.
  6. You all know that I don’t have the most positive feelings about the royal family but, could this be true? Here’s a different link, one without a need for a login. https://au.sports.yahoo.com/tennis-2022-royal-family-centre-wimbledon-russia-ban-204659119.html
  7. The fact of the matter is that most WCs are not merit based, with the exception of the major tournaments (OZ, RG, Wimbledon, USO) where players have to qualify for them. The fact that IMG now runs this tournament most assuredly means they will dole out these WCs to whoever they want. It’s the reason some players almost never play anywhere other than a show court at a tournament.
  8. Hilarious.
  9. Fans who were watching in the late 1980s will remember Pam, Dr. John Dixon’s niece. Pam was played by Robin Morse, daughter of actor Robert Morse.
  10. ^^ His daughter Robin was on As The World Turns at one time.
  11. Issa mess!
  12. I can’t stop laughing at this.
  13. There is definite pushback from a number of players as well as the head of the WTA against the ban. The 4 major tournaments definitely showed that they are willing to act punitively without much consensus from players when they acted against Osaka last year, so I don’t know why people believe they would get consensus on a ban, especially if they believe they are justified in doing so.
  14. Wimbledon is weird in their policies though. I want to hear more on their decision to take this stand now. People are asking why they didn’t take this stand against Chinese athletes with the Peng Shaui situation but I don’t think the two situations are equivalent. That’s the question, isn’t it? I mean Grigor is cute, her guy is cute. They’ve both got tons of money. This guy’s an artist, perhaps that’s the draw for her. Maria might be into her guy for his mind. It does happen, lol.
  15. She and Grigor broke up ages ago. Do they even talk anymore? Grigor is closer to Serena and Venus these days, he describes them as his “besties”. Maybe Maria didn’t want to be involved with another tennis player. Many players don’t.
  16. Here it is, officially: I had been hearing rumors for about six weeks now but I wanted a verifiable source, and none more verified for Wimbledon than the BBC.
  17. Reuters tweeted an article about this and cited Sportico as their source. I guess BBC Sport has gone to bed. I expect that they will have to report on it at some point.
  18. ^^I saw this also. Has BBC, ESPN or Tennis Channel confirmed this? I guess I can check myself, lol. I was just wondering if any other sports news sources have reported on this yet.
  19. Post any clips when you see them, lol.
  20. Oh yeah, I did see that.👀
  21. Did they believe that CNN+ was somehow too big to fail or something? I’m guessing that payments were made and checks were already cashed when people realized they may have made a dreadful mistake.
  22. I am going to go on ahead and guess that Kyle will want Diane back in his life, while Jack doesn’t. Kyle hasn’t had a mother for a long time and only has memories of Diane being a mother, likely a protective one.
  23. For anyone who has trouble accessing the article, there is a free link, paywall-free to the obit here, courtesy of some stranger.
  24. This tweet has a paywall-free link to the Obituary of Kathryen Hays.
