Oh no question, he definitely made the right decision. I tend to think he may have wanted more flexibility than he would have had if he had kept pursuing daytime dramas. Perhaps he even had plans to audition while he was still on ATWT.

I would be interested in hearing about his early years in soaps and whether he felt he had to make a decision between daytime and the pursuit of prime time. In the 80s, I remember ATWT lost a number of actors in a brief time span when many left to pursue primetime and films. With the theater (which a number of older actors seemed to elect to do), they could go back and forth since it was NYC but a slew of them left between ‘82-88. Maybe there’s an interview on YouTube but if not, someone should really interview Corbin about this. When I mean “remember”, I really mean, from what I saw in later years watching classic episodes that aired while the show was still on the air.

Meta recovered some profits, yet lost users? Were they real users or just bots, like what often happens on Twitter? Which projection is the real one? I guess only time will tell.

Twitter just may be staring down that same future with Bozo Elon at the helm. As dynamic as Twitter interactions can be, it's never been known as a moneymaker. Hopes Musk loses his investment, that's assuming the deal even goes through. Who knows? Maybe they might make up the shortfall after all. But they're still at a loss in the profit margin.

People could ask Bernsen. It just may be a matter of preference for him. Daytime was a huge commitment and ATWT was on the East Coast when most primetime was located on the West Coast. Perhaps Bernsen wanted the freedom to pursue other projects? Many other cast regulars left for that reason.

Meta, the parent company of Facebook has just reported a 21% drop in profits. Ouch. I guess misinformation doesn’t pay what it used to. 🤷🏾‍♀️

The word “Fire” made me think of this sequence. Years ago, I saw someone commented on how odd it was that the peppy theme song would often play during serious and sad moments. It’s bad but I chuckled when I saw the closing credits because I immediately thought of that when watching the final scenes of this episode.

I lasted on Instagram for a few weeks before I decided to terminate my account. I didn’t care for it. Could we possibly be that fortunate? 🙏🏾I hope so. Musk is already throwing his weight around and causing Twitter employees to be harassed.

I have two accounts and I got a link to the download for one of my archives (which was 3 GB!!) and am still waiting on the other and I made both requests in the same day. Verification of my primary account was probably an issue because I had briefly changed my Twitter handle before changing it back. 🤦🏾‍♀️ I have decided not to rush. I am hearing that Musk may have already violated SEC rules. They may ignore it and facilitate the deal anyway but October would be the projected date for the sale to go through so I believe we have some time. I understand that you’re anxious though. Keep in mind too, that, depending on how often you tweet, you may need to make sure you have a few GB to spare and depending on the speed of your Internet connection, it may take some time to download. For now, I am storing mine in the Cloud but I plan to move or copy to an external drive.

I had to get a source and CNN reported on the declaration and spoke to a doctor who disagrees with this assessment. Basically though, Fauci is saying that this is solely for the United States, not the rest of the world (weird, given how viruses travel, neither do viruses respect borders). Also, what’s not being said is that COVID-19 has gone from the pandemic stage to the endemic stage, and since the numbers are climbing, we’ll have to watch to see if the death rates also climb since hospitalizations and death usually lag. With the removal of masks, unfortunately I felt like it was only a matter of time, especially since just about everyone in her immediate circle was getting infected. At least he has vowed to get vaccinated now. He is very fortunate to have survived, likely because he was admitted to his area hospital at a time of lower caseloads when staff weren’t so overburdened that they had to ration care. Just having ventured into the B&B: From The Beginning thread, gave me an idea of a storyline that I would have written. I haven’t watched the show in, well ages, but hear me out.😉 If Zende is back on the canvas, as I have read, what’s the reason for not having Kristen make appearances? Hell, I would have brought back Clarke Garrison as an instructor at the local fashion institute (L.A.’s version of FIT) and have he and Zende meet, bond, have Clarke mentor Zende’s path to stepping up in design (is Zende a designer? He should be). When Kristen returns to L.A. she finds out and is thrilled that Zende is so passionate about pursuing design, has only heard briefly about an amazing design instructor but would like to know more about them. Meanwhile, Kristen is concealing the fact that her marriage has grown stagnant and she and Tony have agreed to a trial separation.

Apart from few actors here and there, B&B was never really known as a playground for big talent, lol. I have long since ceased to watch but hearing what some are saying about Kristen and Felicia being off the canvas, it seems odd that they wouldn’t at least appear for short storyline arcs. Seeing these early years, I have developed a fondness for the original actress for Kristen. Yes, I know the acting was not the best but she and Daniel McVicar did have really really good chemistry, despite Clarke being a cad and her exit storyline being not very good. Felicia and Kristen are both designers yet the fact that both have been marginalized seems so counterproductive to the very premise of this soap.

People used to refer to it as the “soap opera effect” with derision, but it worked well for decades. The same effect that people will look on in derision with soaps, will look on it with affection and appreciation in classic films. That gauzy effect of the 1970s “Great Gatsby” is looked on with great affection but had that been a soap opera, it would have been talked about as a laughing stock. Soaps need to realize that many of their main characters are over 50s and many most have not defied age, most look good for their age but most look their age, so these soaps need to have better, kinder lighting for their stars, especially since they center most of their stories around their elder characters.

Diane could have used the icebreaker about not adding to Nikki’s body count, so a little appreciation on Nikki’s part would be nice. The lighting looks less garish than the usual promos.

The DeSantis followers are most likely bots. The analyst said as much, without being explicit about it. If this deal does in fact go through (by October as has been hinted) as predicted, I think Musk doesn’t have a clue what he’s in for. Susan Collins is already advocating for Trump to be allowed back onto the platform. Prepare for the possibility of Twitter to turn cesspool later in the year, if not sooner. Having never joined MySpace or Facebook, I would be perfectly fine if Twitter went away tomorrow. I would probably be more focused on actual writing and other creative work. Sometimes it feels almost like I’m overstimulated, so I wouldn’t have to even think about resisting the urge to check Twitter for the endless flood of tripe that usually ends up somehow seeping into my timeline. I’d get over it.😂

OTOH, Ron DeSantis seems to have acquired 92,500 followers over the same period, according to social media analysts who are examining the possible root of this sudden rise in followers.

This morning I read that the Holocaust Memorial Twitter page said they’ve lost 35,000 followers in one day. They didn’t mention any reasons, just astonishment. It would be my guess that this was loss of followers due to deactivated accounts. It’s unlikely that I will be posting much embedded tweets, but this one seemed especially pertinent.

I also just deleted all my DMs, which I should have done ages ago. Fortunately for me, most of the ones I follow are on other platforms. I am signed up with one or two other artist-centric platforms, so maybe I’ll dust those off and see what’s happening there. Some people are already looking to jump onto other apps but I would rather take a careful approach. So many People have been signing up for CounterSocial that it got overloaded, but there is already talk that the creator is allegedly a George Zimmerman fan (that psychopath has fans??!) There were some aspects of Twitter that were becoming a chore, in terms of posting. I was using it more like a news aggregator and a way to circumvent paywalls, lol. At least I won’t have to take a weekly dose of those infamous Twitter death hoaxes.
