  1. I have never seen this, thanks for posting and thank you @DRW50for the head’s up. Really interesting to see so many people that I have no clue who they are. And early Alan and Monica is a treat.
  2. Thanks for the updates. Is it just me, or does she not look happy to have that photo taken!
  3. Now when I came back from my posting hiatus I promised myself I wouldn’t just post complaints. So what is working for me- More Emma and Gio, even if they are still not on enough, at least they are back on the board. I like Rocco/Danny/Charlotte trying to help them too. Laura seems to be more active again, and they have her standing up to Brennan and Sidwell. It’s nice to see Laura stand her ground. In 1981 she was holding a machine gun in a party dress covering Luke with Robert while he turned off the ice machine. It was a stupid story but Laura is the original action heroine on the show, and knows her way around danger. Drew basically blackmailing Alexis to represent Willow. NLG plays being backed into a corner well as Alexis, and it continues to show just how gross Drew is. And Alexis using Felicia as a PI is fun. We just don’t get to see her do any real investigating or be in danger. I don’t hate Sidwell, I just think it was time for the story to do something. And now that is happening. Happy to see Lulu being used better. I kind of enjoy Chase being so stupid about Willow because for once their problems will not be Brook Lynn’s fault. RG continues to be the recast Michael this show needed.
  4. I am another poster playing catch up with the last week’s shows, and it’s interesting that they have taken a classic Valentini pivot. Nearly all momentum for the stories they had been building for months slowed or stalled, and we had nearly everything all in on Britt’s various stories and Ronnie. Drew/Willow/Nina hardly used. Michael is still in that story but clearly being set up with dayplayer Jacinda. Slowly wheels being put in motion to bring back Valentin. Now at the beginning of sweeps (which I assume still matter in some antiquated way) we are rebuilding Sidwell as an umbrella story. It’s such a strange way to tell stories on the show. You can tell they absolutely thought Maxie would be back by now or on her way soon because Nathan West is another stalled situation. It’s another twist without beats of a story to play. Whatever the story was for Ric and the three ladies it also just ended like it was truncated. We over analyze this stuff, so we notice things like stories slowing down probably because of budget and not blowing anyone’s guarantees. But they were on a real wild streak of at least moving so fast it was entertaining and I wasn’t really as hard on the details. But the slowdown shows all the cracks again.
  5. I can see that, but compare Portia to Liz. At least they use her. They really don’t like Becky Herbst for some reason. And I don’t get it, because by all accounts she is a team player, liked by her colleagues and is professional and doesn’t make waves as far as story goes. Now does she manage to rile up fans when they try to fire her? Maybe not actively, but the fan response is a real thing every time.
  6. It really has ended up that way. That was also one of the last times I thought Sonny had an adult conversation with a romantic partner and was also treating them with respect and as an equal. It was well earned for Brenda considering their history and how he treated her. I never saw him treat Carly as an equal in that way, because he was always wary of her impulsive destruction and too deeply ensconced in his own mental illness issues. I know people think they are well suited, and they kind of are, but for all the wrong reasons for both of them.
  7. The Brenda at the altar exit was the most iconic. The set up with Jason running things played out very well with Carly telling Tony Michael was Jason’s and fleeing to the penthouse. She had the protection and he was both stepping into a dangerous role while now having a family to take care of. Then Robin returned. It was an interesting time, and even back when I liked Sonny, I was fine with his exit. We won’t dwell on Brenda’s model shoot breakdown. We have discussed it before, but after the Claudia fiasco, and Michael going to jail, Carly and Jason started actually saying they made a mistake. They still loved Sonny but the Quartermaines may have been controlling and privileged, but not the violence Michael had endured in the Corinthos world. It was just up to the line of the show addressing that Sonny was becoming what they all thought he was supposed to be protecting them from. He had just gotten past shooting Dante. That would have been a moment too. Truthfully, after his conversation with Brenda about choosing power every time, even over his family and his love, I decided Sonny shouldn’t ride off into the sunset with Brenda or Carly. Or even Jason. He should go out alone.
  8. This would absolutely be the way to go, except maybe I would have this be after Trina confronts her. Let Portia open up to her daughter about what she was willing to compromise and compartmentalize just to succeed as a black woman with her background, her ambitions, and her intelligence being challenged.
  9. It’s just as misogynistic as Guza/JFP but in a different way. It doesn’t lean into cat fights and sleaze as much, nobody is screaming whore at women’s faces for example. But it’s just as diminishing! It’s so ridiculous. Because they wanted Lucky to be more like Luke than police officer Lucky. So they set up the big bad going after Sonny that Lucky has already dealt with, and never put them together again! And it’s what they should have done with Kristina, making her get involved in daddy’s business instead of trying to make it seem like the show wanted to pair her with Lucky. Or worse, just have them own a boring ass bar together. Sidwell should have been threatening Liz, Aiden, Lucky, etc. It would make the already good scene we had with Laura and Sidwell even better. Isiah should also be in his sights, which could have roped Portia and Trina into the danger. A real umbrella story!
  10. I think they like her. It’s just like Willow- they seem to only like to write women on the verge with little variety. I think it’s part of why Laura and Carly are not used appropriately in the last couple of years, and why Alexis always makes stupid decisions. Tracy is strong but she (stupidly) is a good punching bag. Laura is no longer a basket case so they don’t use her well. Anna they recreated into a shivering, weepy mess. Britt is there to show a certain type of gay man’s idea of strong women (and I am a gay man, I know my people’s work when I see it). Carly plays it all balls to the wall. They want Cynthia Watros desperate. Ava stopped being the same kind of lead as soon as she was done being terrorized by Ryan and Esme. Of the women in actual leading stories right now they are all a version of a damsel in distress except for Joss, a recent recreation of Action Barbie Courtney. Now do I think Donnell Turner likes acting with Kerr? Not very much. Or maybe like all the spoiled men on this show he doesn’t like the stories so he doesn’t really invest and it shows. The women on GH never get to do this! It does make me laugh that everybody can see how much he loves working with Genie Francis though. He would hitch his wagon to that icon in a second. Do I believe Anna would be frightened if she thought Faison was alive? Yes. But we would just see the slightest of cracks. Anna used to be believably lethal (for a soap) because she kept things close to her chest and had a commanding if chilly demeanor. I have zero issues with Anna being allowed to have access to her feelings in a way she didn’t before. But she is not someone we should see shaking in fear.
  11. 1000%! That would be a perfect and natural thing for her to feel and the show to explore too! Imagine Trina discovers her mother’s deception, and confronts her on doing this again to another man and child! It’s like they fell backwards into an actual multileveled soap story but they don’t tell it fully! Also- why does Portia do this? For all the faults of the stories, we understand what Willow does when she blows up her life due to the cult and seeking saviors. I cannot remember if they have ever disclosed why Portia is so panic driven and manipulative.
  12. Aren’t there rules about crediting someone? Is Jill in the producer’s guild? I would think they have to credit her.
  13. To this day I still prefer Sydney Mikayla. But Tabyana was a good recast, has plenty of fire, and should be allowed to tell younger lead stories. There is no reason why Drew should not know about them being in his house and be blackmailing one or both of them.
  14. The reveal didn’t even matter about Trina because they didn’t fully tell the story. Curtis was mad at Portia for a few months, Trina was mad at both of them for a few months, then it was just over, and she never mentions the dad that raised her. It’s a hallmark of Dan and Chris as writers. Keep upping the stakes but nothing matters so it all just fades away. They invented an entire family for Laura. Two brothers, neither one of them has kids to continue populating the show. Cyrus was increasingly misused then killed. And Tad the Cad is pointless. But it was a great use of history to mention Lesley’s past! Sarcasm firmly in place.
  15. If Luke was there too, I would say yes. But it is very hard for me to imagine that because it was really built to be an Anna/Duke story. But I also think they would be in that mix because they would be lumped in with the adventure characters. Luke does not fit well with cops though. I could easily see Luke and Duke running the club together and being wrapped up in Jerome business though. It’s what happened when they came back and Frank Smith paired him with Sonny.
  16. Britt seems to be very popular with the Reddit GH community, and even there they comment about this Rocco story is not good.
  17. The situation at GH is very strange. They will have a few couples featured for a couple of years before they pull the plug on all of them almost at the same time. And it was most recently couples where they were propping a pet. I think the filming schedule and puzzle assembly of the episodes for air is part of it. You have a couple take off, and the budget and filming schedule doesn’t allow for them to go over their guarantees, so they just get dropped for weeks at a time. The organic situations that soap writers used to watch for and write to are all but ignored. Why they don’t play Gio/Emma more, or Dante/Lulu, or even Jason/Liz. For the first time ever, both of them had no other romantic stuff and still have chemistry. Instead they would rather bring Britt back seemingly to be paired with Jason and instead play her as a nightmare.
  18. Were those flashbacks uploaded anywhere? I love that they showed stuff that we haven’t seen in the usual flashback packages. I don’t currently have Peacock. Don’t post a link, I don’t want it taken down. Just tell me if anyone has seen them and what/where to look for them!
  19. This is messy of me, but I saw the photos and I was like Suzanne and Deidre are standing next to each other! Has there been a thawing?
  20. Many years! He was hired by Gloria Monty!
  21. I watched a whole bunch of Labine era shows, and also Brenda’s 2002 return. I have also hated him so long that I forgot how good he could be, and also how attractive he was. He was a real smoke show. I had been over him for a long time, but sometime around killing AJ and suffering through Kate 2.0 I just don’t care anymore. I don’t think he offers anything, and in the last few years it’s even less. I have a lot of respect for Maurice for his mental health work, it’s really not personal. I think I hit my Sonny quota like twenty years ago.
  22. I actually think Monica was respecting Jason’s wishes by not leaving the house to him. He spent the majority of his Jason Morgan life either pushing away from the family, or on better terms but still at a distance. He is more part of the family right now than ever before, and a huge part of that was Danny when Sam died. He doesn’t want the house, or the legacy. He now has more respect for what Alan and Monica felt when he left, and more understanding of what his life with Sonny has cost him. But he is still Jason Morgan. There is one Quartermaine left that was there from almost the beginning. That’s Tracy. The house and the name means more to her than anyone else. And with her history of being turned away, leaving it to her is very profound. To me, there were two options- Michael or Tracy. As far as Drew goes, she accepted him as Alan’s son. But there is a huge difference between that acceptance and actually raising Jason and Emily. Those were both very important moments in Monica’s story. It makes total sense to me that Monica would kick Drew to the curb over what he was doing with Willow and Scout.
