  1. I don't know if any soap fan would be surprised. Soaps like OLTL were canceled even though they supposedly came in under budget. Most of the legacy soaps are long gone. The only thing keeping some on the air now is not legacy, but that the alternatives were nowhere near as successful or profitable as CBS or ABC had anticipated. I wouldn't be surprised if all the soaps are gone within 5 years, although I don't know how many of us will be here in 5 years either the way things are these days, to be honest. I do think a new and ugly turn is the anti-DEI obsession that is being put through everywhere with brute force. I would not be surprised if this is used to go after or get rid of Beyond the Gates. Skydance Tells FCC Paramount Eliminated DEI, Pledges to Appoint CBS Ombudsman
  2. I'm not sure if they would recast Sasha unless it was Sofia's choice to leave, and even then, I think there would be a delay. Given how poorly received Kate Mansi has been by a lot of fans, hiring someone else just because they had fans on DAYS ten years ago would surprise me.
  3. I don't believe that either. That would just be grotesque. Brennan wouldn't surprise me, along with some of the other going nowhere recurring characters (Cody, that professor, Joss' mentor).
  4. I do remember some claim that they were still going to be working with Ron's outlines for a while.
  5. Cassandra Creech (Denise) is starting a GoFundMe to help her mother, whose home was gutted by a fire. https://www.gofundme.com/f/HelpCarolynRepairHerFireDamagedHouse/
  6. Cassandra Creech (ATWT, B&B, AW) is starting a GoFundMe to help her mother, whose home was gutted by a fire. https://www.gofundme.com/f/HelpCarolynRepairHerFireDamagedHouse/
  7. 5. This sounds much more interesting than what I remember of that story at the time... 11. ???
  8. Apparently, the show is ending, so you told us just in time.
  9. That's great news. Jackie is one of the best actors out there - few can do so much without even raising their voice.
  10. That would be nice for Lucy...I feel like all that is left of the character now is Lynn's own star power, which is a shame as in the '90s she was something special. I do know there is much more Brenda can do on the canvas; it's just this is such an odd show sometimes.
  11. I remember that. He would have been very good on Y&R or B&B. I am still amazed at how much he fit into ATWT, from his first episodes - he clicked with everyone. This after not ever really getting a foothold at DAYS. I do think Scott eventually found his way in the role, for a while, but his early stuff doesn't do a lot for me (nor does much past about 1995).
  12. A part of me can envision a GH where Brenda returns just for Heart & Home segments.
  13. I know there was speculation that he was really Shiloh.
  14. I don't think it did a great deal, as Lisa had stopped being a schemer or bad girl a number of years before that point. I think she was defanged a little too much in the late '80s as the character worked best when she was always something of an outsider, rather than puttering around her club or waiting for Earl to contact her. She did get more story of her own again in the early '90s, but I wish they'd given her another story that would have caused conflict with her and the Hugheses, the way that Eduardo's murder and the wrongful death lawsuit against John did. It's a shame they did such a lousy job with the con artist story in 1996 - I might have made him younger and made Lisa empathize with him, given her own scheming past, serving as a mentor and possibly a love interest.
  15. Any time they try that with Joss, it flops, but I assume this is just a stall with Emma until she is properly paired with Gio.
  16. Yes, that was abysmal. I had to really tell myself not to blame her for the whole fiasco.
  17. Thanks. Bring Mark on as some kind of harried producer, I don't really care. The insurance aspect I respect, similar to what Angela Lansbury did for her friends. I do wish it was used in better ways.
  18. Me too. I think Horgan may have been tied to OLTL by then, which didn't really end well. They sure would have done a better job with Shannon than what we got in 94-95.
  19. Thanks @Soapsuds I wasn't sure if that channel had anything left. Glad to get another episode from the frame right before Marland arrived, especially this early take on Shannon.
  20. Is H&H just Frank's way of hiring some names he's fond of but he can't work into story? If so I wish he could spread the wealth (what is the actor who played Jason on OLTL doing now? What about Kirk Geiger?). It's nice to know Susan Batten can still show up on soaps but I can only assume she was very kind to Frank back in his early producing days.
  21. If this is true, I can see where playing a new part would be meatier than Viki as there's really nothing for Viki to react to in Port Charles. Maybe she also wanted to play the grief given her daughter's passing. It's hard to guess. I do wonder how many will struggle to not just see her as Viki, unless she is going to play this in a Niki-type manner. The only OLTL retcon I would object to is claiming that Blair slept with David, which I don't think Blair would ever do. I agree the rest was fine.
  22. I do remember the sister rumors being around for a while. Whatever happens, I will always associate Daytime Confidential with the dregs of their "Cartini" and MAB sycophancy, along with praising ATWT's awful final run...
  23. How shocking. His work as Theo was so likeable and energetic and a good contrast to Bill and Phylicia as Theo's parents. And then I know afterward beyond his acting he did a lot of directing too. So sorry to hear of his passing and I can't imagine how his friends and family feel. Rest in peace.
  24. You aren't wrong (although I do think Charity's first run is pretty decent).
