I think they have a good amount of chemistry, even if the writing is clumsy. It's preferable to any story either has had in some time.

It's hard to believe he's real. He is, if nothing example, a great example of how craven, blatantly abusive people often get rewarded for it, especially if they're white men.

This is some web series I've never heard of, about a man who wants to be on Guiding Light. They use the music and the lighthouse motif but I assume no one involved in GL is on this: Sorry, wrong video (NBA will appreciate it if he looks at the thread...).

Apparently some GL alum have been appearing on this talk show...including Cynthia Watros, which surprises me as I thought she left Y&R for a prime time role. Those people are naive. The GOP will still fight her over the nomination and the media will still do the same. I can see where it might be nice as a courtesy to nominate him and put him on the bench, and I'm sure he'd be a decent justice, but it shouldn't be done to spare a fight. It will also likely depress turnout on the left for 2018.

I was more caught up in the whole Andy trial drama than I thought I would be. I hate most soap trials, but thanks to Kelvin's performance (one of his best in a while) I could feel the dread and sickness in Andy. The bit where Rakesh told him to plead guilty and he staggered back was especially good. And I was all ready to write a post saying Emmerdale just knocked off Eastenders for escape plans featuring short-tempered morons with loose zippers and perfect backsides, but as ludicrous as Andy running through a court and a parking lot and Emmerdale village in broad daylight was...it all worked somehow. It felt genuinely suspenseful. There were some little character moments I loved too, like Diane telling Bernice alcohol wasn't the answer, then swigging her drink. And when I saw Andy in that cell I couldn't help thinking back to when Jack was in a similar cell, on trial for Sarah's death. A part of me wishes they'd brought that up, but it would have been the same forced history-mining I criticize Eastenders for. There was also a nice bit of light and shade with the Lisa name change alongside the drama, and the wedding plans, although I'm disappointed that we're going back to another round of Leyla disapproving of Tracy and seeing her as a gold-digger. If you're going to dig for gold, you can go a lot further than a seriously ill man who has two young kids and whose main income is a shop that has no customers (and when they did have a customer yesterday, David threw him out!). It's demeaning to Leyla and to relationships between women to frame it this way, rather than Leyla opposing the wedding because David isn't thinking clearly. The scenes with David and Frank were good (Michael Praed felt surprisingly natural), and I'm willing to see where the sister twist with Vanessa and Tracy will go. It was good to see Tracy get a moment of dramatic acting as well. The strained attempt at conversation between Moira and Cain, with Charity lurking and looming, was one of the first moments of their breakup that didn't feel rushed. I felt so sorry for Holly, more than anything else, as she was trying her best. The way the stories were intertwined, with characters commenting on the plots around them, but in a natural way, was a nice touch.

It's still DTC. Phil's liver story had the potential to be very good, but it's dragged out way too much and no longer has any real pathos. Sharon's awful mewling doesn't help. I think if Jamie didn't work so well with Harry Reid (who doesn't work very well with most of the others in the cast), DTC would have written him out last year with Lola. This awful drug addiction story and Mark's arrival make me more sure it's just a matter of time. I hope not.

The show was too gutless to risk casting an actor with an American accent. The flimsy reason given is that he went to a "British school" (which makes no sense as Michelle wouldn't have cared about that sort of thing) and he "adopted" a British accent to pick up girls. That also makes no sense, as most girls would see that as stupid and phony. It makes even less sense because ghoulish DTC decided to try to make him look like David Scarboro (RIP), Mark Fowler #1, and has instead made him look like he just got out of a gay porn parody called "T-Bird Tops." So he invented a fake posh accent while dressing like a middle-aged gay man's jerkoff fantasy? It makes no damn sense. Everything about this story has been awful, more than anything Sharon bleating on about how Grant can't know because he's a bad man (which also makes no sense as she was mooning over him not long ago and he hasn't done anything "bad" in over 15 years). And it's all about Phil. As everything is. It's not enough that he's "dying" and all the Ben drama. We get more contrived melodrama. It also makes me wonder if the "new Mitchell," is there to replace Jay, as I get the feeling the show would be fine with writing him out as he's not one of their little cadre. The show has been awful this week. I hate this story. Anytime someone tells you the Mitchells carry the show, just laugh.

The Lyla rewrites were unforgiveable. They also claimed she shoved Katie into child pageants. It was all [!@#$%^&*].

I actually liked Rose quite a bit - it was MB Lily I could never tolerate. I think PJ (do they still post here?) hated her.
