  1. My parents were watching an early Northern Exposure episode and mentioned this to me (I can't find a clip in English but the video has the text if you watch it on YT).
  2. I think the country is so polarized and Clinton is so polarizing it almost has to be. I hope not though.
  3. I think it will be very close. What I find most tacky are those who are going about the new dynasty and trying to act like the Trumps are the Bushes (for those on the right who loathe the Kennedys) or Kennedys (for the tabloid press). This isn't your excuse for a shiny People cover. This man is a nightmare.
  4. I agree it mostly hurts more than helps. I do think Joe Biden was a help to Obama - moreso in 2012 than in 2008 (he would have won no matter what in 2008), although Obama's aggressive campaign against Romney was the biggest help, Biden was pretty solid and was a good contrast to boy wonder Paul Ryan. I have a feeling Hillary and her people are panicked over Trump likely cutting deep into what's left of the blue-collar white vote in places like the Midwest. I can understand why, but I'm not sure of the choices. I do like Tim Kaine, and he seems to know how to win tough elections, but his views on abortion are going to upset some, and he didn't exactly set the world on fire in his post-SOTU address back when he was elected governor. Vilsack was popular in Iowa for a certain amount of years, but I don't even know if that's the case now. And wasn't he a part of that huge ugly mess against Shirley Sherrod? I think he'd be a minus.
  5. Looks like Ted and wife got a nasty reception (the article doesn't mention it but he was also turfed out of moneybags Sheldon Alderson's suite). http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2016/07/20/ted_cruz_wife_confronted_by_angry_donors_delegates_after_speech.html I think the newest spin is that Trump knew about this and it's all a stunt, but I don't know if I buy that. I don't think his ego could take this type of embarrassment.
  6. The funniest part is Ted Cruz went out of his way not to insult or dismiss Trump for most of the primaries, because he, like most people, thought Trump would flame out. They were fools to let him on the stage, but I'm glad they did. He certainly had no reason to kiss ass, the way losers like Christie have done just so they can get some job in his Cabinet.
  7. If this were a speech for Mitt Romney I could have come away from it with a deeper respect for her, but I stand firm in my thinking that opposing Trump is a moral imperative given some of the insane things he's said about Muslims, women and Latinos. Oh, and the wink and nod to the white supremacists. Speaking of that: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/vdare-gop-convention-tweet-white-nationalist I really do think in 2020 (assuming this man loses), the GOP will nominate a completely open racist and white supremacist, one who doesn't even bother with "I love my dark-skinned friends!" They've been moving further and further in that direction and receive little blowback for it. At this point they will probably have a debate over whether to bring back eugenics.
  8. I think his going around saying Obama is a Muslim probably did more damage - but I guess he can get in those Kirk Cameron and "God Isn't Dead Part 43" movies.
  9. I'd say MAB wrote it, as I thought I read somewhere here she was a Republican (maybe not), but that would involve actually being able to write.
  10. If given permission, sure. I didn't know if they did or not. I don't think this or the Melania thing make much of a difference to the public or to polls. I just think it's sloppy. Con artists should be better at sanding down the edges.
  11. Here we go again: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/donald-trump-jr-rnc-speech-lifted-language-too
  12. Hilarious. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/mitch-mcconnell-booed-at-gop-convention
  13. Very disappointed with last night's episode. They were so focused on the "twist" about Paul being dead and not Ben, but they clumsily telegraphed this with the scenes of Pam and Les thinking he was asleep. As they didn't bother to hide that Paul was the one who was dead, it just made the Ben "death" scenes more pointless and more exploitive. And other than Steve McFadden I can't say the acting did much for me either. The only moment that connected was seeing poor Paul on that slab
  14. Sad to hear. I wonder if his family have watched any of the reruns.
  15. Ha ha to Chris Christie. One of the few bright spots of this election season has been the humiliation of a man the media spent a decade humping the leg of. Good riddance to your cushy job with your business buddies... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/07/18/chris-christie-is-super-bitter-about-not-being-donald-trumps-vp-pick/
  16. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/rnc-2016-takeaways-225790?lo=ut_a1 http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/rnc-2016-convention-clashes-donald-trump-225761 Interesting take on the night. Sounds like a trainwreck. Trump truly is a con artist - not only is he not that rich, he's not good at putting a show together either. GE Smith being involved makes me sad. I always enjoyed his days as bandleader on SNL. He and Victoria Jackson have ruined most of my SNL late '80s memories.
  17. I thought it was a good finale too, other than not using Sam Groom properly. The gorilla never bothered me. I wonder how those fans felt about lackluster finales like ATWT's...
  18. He's a Congressman now - one who hilariously had to run far away from being in a movie a decade ago that had a <gasp> gay marriage. She was a bigot on RW so I'm not too surprised with her. I guess this is her last claim to fame after The View gig didn't materialize.
  19. Gemma Atkinson talks about Marlon and Carly. It's interesting mostly for her comments about the producer changeover and the input actors have or don't have. I haven't heard anyone else in the cast talk much about this. http://metro.co.uk/2016/07/19/emmerdale-spoilers-gemma-atkinson-reveals-all-on-carly-and-marlons-hot-summer-storyline-6004733/
  20. I'm half-surprised he and Milania don't do a semi-nude photoshoot for fundraising purposes. They'd get more value out of that than him opening his mouth to speak.
  21. As I lost yet another channel, I reuploaded this - call it Christmas in July: (the other 5 parts are on my channel) A Meg Ryan fan had the last part of this which for some reason I'd never downloaded:
