I have a feeling Steven will be going the psycho route soon unless they abandon DTC's work.

Another axing. And another I don't really agree with, as I think Lee was a perfectly decent young male character (something in extremely short supply on EE) who worked well with the Carters and Whitney. (I also thought he was hot as hell, I will admit). It makes me uneasy that some of these people have been let go while Babe, Shakil, Louise, etc. continue to loiter. Babe is untenable after last week's shitfest of episodes. If she doesn't go soon I doubt I will watch much longer. https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/1647196/eastenders-loses-its-third-actor-in-a-week-as-danny-boy-hatchard-is-set-to-leave/

This must have been so satisfying for viewers at the time. Frances Heflin is just so wonderful here.

I think CNN wants it too, but then, Jeff Zucker is a stain on television and culture anyway. At this point I'd even take Faux News over that network.

Between Trump's non-apology apology, his insulting claim to white voters that black voters need to vote for him in order to be wealthy and happy, and his trip to Louisiana, the media must be pulling their puds 24/7. Many of them desperately want a Trump win and they think they can make it happen with this type of spin. And it means they can dust off their old "Can Republicans win minority votes this year...maybe they can!" articles that they update every 4 years.

I didn't realize until after I gave my list how many guys I do find extremely hot I just didn't think to put on there (Rik Makarem, Jamie Borthwick, Mikey North). British soaps really do have the best guys, especially when they aren't trying too hard (like this dull, awkward himbo "Mark Fowler Jr").- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I just did. I had a tough time and I know I missed a few I wish I'd included now, but it was hard to really say: 1. Ryan Thomas 2. Tom Lister 3. Adam Thomas 4. Ryan Hawley 5. James Thornton 6. Lyndon Ogbourne 7. Rob James Collier 8. Jake Wood 9. Nigel Harman 10.Philip Lowrie Second list: 1. Deepak Verma 2. Gary Beadle 3. Jamie Lomas 4. Karl Davies 5. Michael le Vell 6. Todd Carty 7. Chris Gascoyne 8. Anthony Quinlan 9. Bruno Langley 10. Nigel Pavaro Honorable mentions: Kevin Sacre, Paul Fox, Damon Grant Brookside, Philip Olivier, the cute young Scottish guy on Crossroads 2.0, Ashley Taylor Dawson, Michael French- Where the Heart Is (1969-1973)
That was great stuff. I'd only ever seen Robyn Millan in her mercifully brief run as Delia on Ryan's Hope (where a number of WTHI actors popped up during the Labine/Mayer years), but she's absolutely chilling here. And you can see how different WTHI was to any other soap at this point. I wish more was available, but I never thought I'd ever hear this.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Yeah I thought she'd hang on and hang on. I liked her at times but they never did anything with her. It was a brave decision to turf her and Ronnie, but the right one. (even though I hate what Sharon's become, I'm also glad she outlasted them as Santer once said something like there was no need for Sharon to return because they represented her two sides) . I just hope the constant rumors of Jay being let go aren't true. I'm barely hanging on with this rotgut show and that would end it for me.- The Politics Thread
Sad day when Newt Gingrich sounds reasonable (I had no idea Dr. Drew was such a dirty quack) http://www.politico.com/story/2016/08/clinton-health-newt-gingrich-227153- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
The sound you hear is DTC weeping copiously at another of his babies being pushed out of the nest...thanks in large part to his shitty, shitty writing. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/eastenders/news/a805101/eastenders-spoilers-roxy-mitchell-ronnie-mitchell-leaving-together/- The Politics Thread
He couldn't get run for reelection anyway. He likely knows enough people, and enough bodies that have been buried, to always hang around, but his higher aspirations are likely dead. I never understood the hype about him anyway - he is grotesque in every way. Speaking of grotesque: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/08/17/rudy-giuliani-declares-trumps-speech-the-best-speech-that-any-republican-at-the-least-has-ever-given/?tid=pm_politics_pop_b- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
With the exception of one story, I enjoyed the episode more than I thought I might have going in. I wouldn't have been against a little bit with Victoria and Diane, but Andy's strongest dramatic relationships in recent times were with Robert and Bernice, so it was fitting that all of his scenes were with them. I imagine a lot of the view of this episode would depend on how one feels about Andy and Bernice - for me they have great chemistry and they're both people who are restless and needy, so I could believe that they do love each other as much as they're able to love anyone and that she would contemplate running away with him. I never believed he was in love with Chrissie, so I wasn't bothered that he went from her to Bernice. I know some fans feel the stuff with Bernice, and his quasi-reconciliation with Robert, are a betrayal of Katie, but I never liked Andy/Katie and I wish I could forget Katie's death story ever happened, so I just can't be upset about it. A part of me wishes his final scene had been with Robert - Ryan and Kelvin work brilliantly together and it's the strongest element of Ryan's work in the role - but Kelvin and Sam Giles were wonderful in those last, honest scenes of parting. In some ways, it wasn't a huge exit for 20 years, but given that the door is open and that Andy isn't that type of story-dominating, emotionally resonant character, I thought it fit as a goodbye to him and as a way to move on the stories of those he's leaving behind. On paper I don't think I'd be thrilled with Tracy/Vanessa sisters but it's been OK so far (aside from their pointless insta-feud). It helps that Michael Praed brings something to the role of Frank, and Amy Walsh and Michelle Hardwick are also doing good work. I don't mind David and Tracy when they're the way they were in this episode, without all the wedding obsession and pushiness. I don't mind Carly and Marlon together, or the awkwardness and misunderstandings, but the scenes of April being so unpleasant are unbearable. I hate when soaps have kids act like brats, or act like mini-adults. They should be better than this with April. It doesn't work for her. I have no need to see her locking Pearl away and belittling Pearl as an "old fogey" and then seeing this coddled and seen as rational and understandable. Turning on the tears doesn't mean it's any better.- DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos

That makes sense. I saw some article about his "A-team" on agriculture, including Sam Brownback. Other than bankrupting a state I'm not sure what Brownback's skills are, but it got the media gushing as always. The Kushner article you posted gave a lot of details about his family I didn't know. That whole thing with setting up the brother with a hooker is like something off Sopranos.- The Politics Thread
The weird thing is the speech he gave yesterday sounded like Manafort speak (the canned crap about how African-Americans are being used by Democrats, Hillary is a bigot, all his "detailed" "plans"). Maybe it's Roger Ailes speak?- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Thank you. That was so much fun, especially Jane Cox saying he was a cross between Ross Kemp and someone from Brookside. Some think that Samantha Giles' "Andy Sugden IS Emmerdale" is a knock on DTC's "Barbara Windsor IS London." I don't know, but it makes me laugh. This version has the real goodbyes too:- Falcon Crest

I saw that dumbass Rick Perry saying just because your child is lost in the "war on terror," that doesn't mean you have to speak. Funny how no one said that to the Benghazi relatives... Anyway, another example of just what a false media construction "tough prosecutor" Chris Christie was. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/17/us/politics/trump-chris-christie-casinos.html?_r=0 - Supergirl: Discussion Thread
