  1. Doesn't he end up falling off a tightrope or something? I remember years and years ago some fans used to list this as one of the show's worst ever stories.
  2. I was just thinking that I wonder if they were confused because the videos were often labeled the same over and over except for one or two elements (many December of (1991, 1992, etc.). Not that that warrants them taking down the channel. It makes me hope some of the other channels might survive but I'm not holding my breath. I hope maybe someday we can have these on some kind of private website, as some soap fans have done over the years.
  3. That makes zero sense. So I guess we will just see more and more channels that post content from old shows disappear. I never really watched a ton of his stuff - I wish I had now. What would be the point of even going to Youtube without old shows? Listening to music...at best. Youtube is really doing its best to chase people away. I have little interest in most of the creator content on Youtube. That wasn't even what made them big in the first place - it was people putting up an SNL film (Lazy Sunday). I guess I should prepare myself for most channels that post any old TV content disappearing.
  4. @DaytimeFan thank you. I can always count on your for an informative response. Great timing from Joan about that sale.
  5. Was there a reason given for Marty West not being there? That was always a bit WTF to me anyway.
  6. There were a number of Cutter pairings that viewers had a positive response to but he wasn't seen as big enough by the show. Mindy was another. I don't remember where my scan is but SOD had an ask the producers feature for all the soaps in summer or fall '94 and JFP was asked about one of the Cutter pairings as well as Alan-Michael and Gilly. Basically just non-answers. I think the show was thrown at there never really being tons of interest in Alan-Michael/Lucy as a pairing. I think Jane fit - she had easy chemistry with Jerry ver Dorn and was able to spar back and forth with the Spaulding Enterprises crew - but Marland wrote way too much for Carrie way too fast. Jane rarely stayed at a soap for long anyway, but with better pacing I think she could have worked on the show.
  7. Yes, Jane was probably the first GL stunt casting, even under similar circumstances to Marcy as she'd been a big part of Marland's GH as Marcy had been to JFP's SB.. The main difference being that Marland had obvious story plans for Jane and gave her a ton to work with.
  8. More talking points from the media. They are working night and day to reelect Trump. I just wish I didn't think it would work.
  9. Thanks for telling us. It will be good to see Olli again (if I ever get to see any of this...).
  10. Definitely had to be an FOJ situation I think. I think there must have been some thin plans for Tangie that were hobbled by many factors - writer turnover, and also the real lack of chemistry between Robert and Marcy. I think they just expected viewers to automatically love Tangie and the rest would go forward. It didn't.
  11. If memory serves, this was an attempt to boost GL's ratings, as Dr. Quinn had made a splash at the start of the year.
  12. Disgusting. And so many believe this too.
  13. Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous piece with Joan (it's the first segment). @DaytimeFan did Joan sell her Beverly Hills mansion that's in this segment?
  14. Karen Morris Gowdy at the start of this.
  15. Barbara Crampton was never really given much of a chance at GL. Mindy was as bland as possible, stuck in a dull relationship with a man who had to be the center of story attention at all times. It didn't help that she barely got to work with the best of the Lewis family, like Jordan Clarke and Larry Gates. And she just never felt like Mindy - she was too California, too Hollywood. In her last few months in the role she finally clicked, thanks to Rick's return, but it was too late. The same happened with Marcy Walker, oddly enough.
  16. Big arrests in Ohio. @marceline may know more about this. https://www.npr.org/2020/07/21/893493224/ohio-house-speaker-arrested-in-connection-to-60-million-bribery-scheme
  17. The media have gotten their marching orders (again) - running pieces on a man who once wore a wire for an FBI investigation against Biden, positive pieces on Trump's mask tweet (no mention of the "Chinese virus" portion, naturally), and the above. They will do anything to help him win. In other news, the Lincoln Project's razor-sharp attack ads against Trump and the GOP are leading to serious heartburn, leading to hit pieces from the grift circuit. Steve Schmidt responds, forcefully, and reveals some details of what a sorry state National Review is in.
  18. Other than that tedium with Holly and her badly miscast fiance, I agree that the Dobsons seemed to have a better handle on her character. Marland seemed to write mostly bland female characters if they weren't able to be campy; it did sort of feel like there were hints she and Ed could get back together but Maureen didn't stay around for that story to conclude. I wonder how bad the atmosphere was backstage around that point.
  19. That was a writer under JFP (I can't remember who). They did write a number of other rape stories on the show (Hayley, Julia, Summer, Kelly).
  20. How convenient. He was also a "men's rights activist" and a Fox News regular. I imagine we will hear the media say little about that.
  21. The Dobsons were very adamant about these scenes because the year before, they wrote scenes with Roger raping Rita, and when they watched the material onscreen, it had been turned into a seduction sequence. I don't think most people today would know how groundbreaking this material was, especially the rawness and ugliness. GL was always one of the more raw soaps to me, so this is was the truest representation of GL's core. Michael and Maureen are absolutely phenomenal. Much of the time in that first run Holly is written so passively (that is one of the reasons she ultimately left), but in this you can see just what a talent Maureen is and the skills she brought to the role when she came back in 1989.
  22. I'll keep you in my thoughts.
