  1. Biden is now dismantling his own bill and Republicans are still not interested. This is the same mistake they made with health care. I know that Manchin is one of the main drivers of this posturing, but it's obvious this is just stalling and running out the clock on behalf of the GOP. I know this can run afoul of leaning into the Will Stancil "do something" brigade, but when I see passages like this I'm not sure what else to say: https://www.politico.com/news/2021/05/21/white-house-cuts-infrastructure-17-trillion-490185 Inside the White House, there’s an appetite to keep pushing on a deal past that date if they still believe that Capito is operating in good faith.
  2. Beautifully put. And very true. The media is out of touch and hates us.
  3. Thanks, @marceline
  4. I have no idea what Nina Turner's chances are in her primary for now HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge's old seat in Congress (barring the updates from @marceline ), but I couldn't help posting this tsk-tsk reaction from Dave Weigel. Weigel spent the primary season amplifying Bernie's dead-enders, and now wants to shame them for the exact reaction this constant attention helped condition them into seeing as the ideal. Turner is now running in the party she spent 5 years campaigning against at every turn. Not even a year ago she was telling people that voting for that party was like eating a bowl of [!@#$%^&*]. Now we have this tweet. I can only assume Turner does not have the resources of trust fund babies like Brie Brie or Walker Bragman, and podcasts + lobbying organizations only go so far. If she does win, it will be interesting to see how quickly they, or others whose incomes are based on tearing down the Democratic Party and coddling right wing extremist, like Krystal Ball, Jimmy Dore, Kyle Kulinski, etc. make her their target.
  5. Thanks @Huntress for listing all the different events in such detailed form. I would have no idea what most of this meant otherwise. That last clip with the cult is genuinely shocking. How was this story received? Did any of the main characters die? What do you think of UU's efforts? I wonder if this is really bringing any old viewers back. Most of the time, when they are gone, they stay gone. I guess Katrin and Jo are gone now...
  6. Now that McConnell has whipped his caucus against the bill, it's time for the inevitable one-sided pleas for bipartisanship that will keep Democrats paralyzed until the clock is fully run out. Is there any way that we can speed that up (and the media platforming Glenn Greenwald and others who insist nothing bad happened) and try to actually get something done? Please?
  7. Not to wade into any arguments but I'm not sure the comments were directed at any one person - I may have also referred to Nella as a candy striper in the past, because as mentioned above, there are huge gaps in episodes and I have some vague memories of her in that role.
  8. I don't have any interest in these toothless commissions either, but I think this stands out as a notable moment for just how brazen the GOP is, and how they know they will get away with it.
  9. McCarthy stabbed John Katko, another so-called "thoughtful" Republican who worked closely with Democrats for the commission to happen, in the back. Watch Katko just shrug it off the way all the GOP enablers do. The Republicans, with the media going along every step, are doing their best to memory hole 1/6 and knowing their voter suppression and gerrymandering tools are enough to get away with it.
  10. I hope something is done, but what I described essentially is the law in states like Georgia now, and Joe Manchin's solution was to co-write a letter. I feel like time is slipping away.
  11. This is one of the reasons the right, and the media, have been moving the activist base away from abortion and more towards topics like saying all liberals eat babies and are human traffickers. The base of their party - the main people who will be able to vote from now on thanks to these voter suppression laws (and the only ones with votes who will count thanks to the laws allowing Republicans to just throw out what they don't like) will support abortion being made illegal, and the money men will keep writing checks because they are still getting what they really want. Selfish media whore Manchin putting out his meaningless letter on the same day real, severe consequences of his "I've got mine, screw you" attitude reveal themselves unintentionally underscores just how much damage this type of politician does to the future of this country.
  12. Sorry if this has already been posted, but it's an interview with Kane Manera (the notoriously awful Grady on GL, so awful that he was turfed off a cliff by Philip and no one gave a damn), who is now a real estate agent. In another example of lazy journalism, it seems whoever did this just went to Kane's IMDB page and assumed he was on GL for three years, rather than noticing the 2006 credit was for a shorter-term role. https://www.inman.com/2021/02/01/corcoran-agent-kane-manera-found-his-guiding-light-in-real-estate/
  13. Claudia and Enrique also came in at the time there were strong rumors B&B was going to expand to an hour. When that didn't happen, they likely got the chop.
  14. Not to be mean, because I know all these Youtubers do this, but why do you need to have your big-ass face on the video you are promoting like this?
  15. WandaVision cleaned up at the MTV Movie Awards. Host Leslie Jones opened the show up with a WandaVision gag, featuring a few cast members:
  16. The above is just another example of what happens when we have no regulation against mergers.
  17. That must have sucked for fans of the couple (not to mention being in poor taste given Staab's accident being the reason why he could never return to the role). A sad irony that Andy herself went under the bus when Antonio returned. This is the type of writing that alienated so many fans, one after another.
  18. Is this the story where John slept with Dee and he was sure she thought it was him while she thought he was Brad? Anything I see of that character group in the early '80s is both offputting and dull.
  19. I've grown to respect Don over the years as I feel like the crises of the last decade have led him to reflect, instead of just shutting his eyes and pocketing the cash the way some in the media do. Whatever happens I hope it's a good thing for him.
  20. Don Lemon scared some viewers tonight into thinking he was leaving CNN. Apparently someone is leaving CNN before June though, if Twitter rumors are accurate.
