  1. Josh Hawley loves to make money and get media headlines off "cancel culture," as does the deeply destructive Federalist Society that belched him out. They do not seem to care as much about "cancel culture" or "free speech" when it comes to criticism of themselves.
  2. If you need a bitter laugh:
  3. Much as Lucinda loved Lily, and much as Liz Hubbard was close to Martha and that worked onscreen, I appreciated how Liz played up some form of awareness in Lucinda over how utterly ridiculous Lily was. (I'm guessing that line was a Liz ad-lib)
  4. I know they won't, for one reason in particular, but it's time to do just what Trent Lott did in 2001 and dump this office.
  5. Just a wretched human being. The country is near the point of no return and we get more scolding and cowardice.

  7. I don't really believe it's just two, but I'm mostly surprised Biden called them out (if this is accurate). That's a risk. I wonder if he knows they aren't going to be supporting anything he wants to do so this is a Hail Mary.
  8. I saw people getting mad at Feige's comments about Blackkklansman, which is the epitome of "being mad to be mad."
  9. Gosh, maybe when someone completely erodes their credibility over a 5-year period, while never owning up to this at any stage, they're never going to get it back!
  10. Media darling Nancy Mace, who is breathlessly hyped (by herself, her trash press people, and of course, the press) as New and Different, has pulled out the old vandalism card. There are some questions about the handwriting of this vandal...
  11. If Chris Cillizza, one of the belt buckles of the Beltway, is saying this, we truly have gone past the point of no return.
  12. Sad. Arlene may be best known as Ken Berry's girlfriend on Mayberry R.F.D.
  13. I had read about it, and mostly just felt a bit underwhelmed (I liked April in her 1993/4 appearances and this wasn't really the story I thought she had the first time around) and also confused at two different actresses as I was used to soap twins being played by the same actor. Seeing it adds a little more interest, but it still feels like an odd choice for Paul, who was at this point probably their main young male lead. I know someone sent me a link to the vault last year but I never did keep it or watch much on there. I guess I should while it's still around. At least now between the clip above and you piecing together the other clips, we can say a good amount of the 3/2 episode is available. I always look forward to your thoughts on this vintage material.
  14. Most of it is the April/Paul/Barbara story, which I have probably now seen more of between this and the episode repeated for COVID last year than I ever thought - it's mostly interesting to see the good, clear acting from Cynthia Jordan. It's also fun to see the attempts at sibling banter with Patty and Paul - most of what I've seen of Lilibet's Patty is much more serious.
  15. The opener of the March 2, 1982 episode!
  16. Can't wait for Weiss, Sullivan, Greenwald, etc. to speak on this as they are so eager to push transphobia while getting to have the privilege of rich white gays (some of whom don't even live in this country). Oh wait, they're too busy talking about how they love insurrectionists or how scary black people are.
  17. I had wondered why Dave Weigel was trending, complete with people who keep putting their photos beside his to show how ugly and fat they think he is compared to their gorgeous selves (which kind of sucks, but Twitter is Twitter, sadly). I do think Weigel has some good insights, but he can never stop being an edgelord, even though it's pathetic enough to see a teenager acting this way, let alone a 40 year old man. And similar to when he decided to amplify virulently homophobic tweets from Virgil Texas, I have not noticed any of his "dirtbag left" pals bothering to step in.
  18. When this Carla story is over I hope we won't need to hear Nicole shriek-wailing "Pele!!!" again... The woman who plays Carla is a very good actress. This show has so many gorgeous men, and most of them can act, which makes it better. The story with Tilly is hard to watch, but feels realistic enough compared to a lot of teen plots. It helps that the actors who play CeCe and TK are so good. I assume Desi is a popular character, but, while the actress is fine, the character herself just overwhelms me. Doing whatever she wants while going around shaming and belittling other people as a moral crusader is just too much for me.
  19. Very true. After the latest Gaza attacks I had wondered if he would get a boost, but he seems to have been so deeply unpleasant and arrogant that it wasn't enough.
