  1. JFP and Savitz both made horrible decisions, likely pushed by NBC (especially in Savitz's case), but the show was never going to last much longer. It was nearly canceled in 1993, I believe. That the show survived for 20 years while mostly being in the back of the pack is amazing.
  2. That was hilarious. I think my favorite might have been Snowglobe Queen.
  3. The best thing about Courtney was all the hateful nicknames fans gave her.
  4. Guza made Amber's Emily his mouthpiece for his hatred of the Quartermaines, and it completely ruined the character. She was utterly unwatchable. They took her in, they took in her dying mother and made her last months comfortable, and all she could do was hurl abuse at them. What kind of a person is THAT heartless? Ironically I think, for all of her judgment and self-righteousness toward Alan, Monica and Edward, Natalia's Emily was somewhat closer to the family.
  5. I also question her love for the genre. As Eddie Drueding mentioned at the time, she was obsessed with shows like Cheers, ER, NYPD Blue, etc. None of those were daytime soaps. I do not believe she had any respect for the genre - not with the way she treated people, or the shows she worked on. Yes, some decisions were out of her hands, but that is also true of others like Claire Labine who, even if I had issues with her writing on various soaps, I still felt she loved the soap genre. I never felt that with JFP. Every interview she gave was about herself, first and last, nothing in-between.
  6. The synopses I've read of that last return say he died. I guess we won't know for sure until the episodes show up.
  7. I've been watching Home & Away the last few months, and Bren Foster popped up for a short arc as a guy who came to Summer Bay after people who had been swindled out of their savings by a conwoman posted about it to a message board. He did a good job with what he was given . I thought he was a little familiar but did not know until looking it up that he played Vivian's son Quinn on DAYS a decade ago. He's much thicker now.
  8. This must have been another strike story - the '81 strike seemed to bring howlers to most of the soaps. It's a credit to MTS that she managed to make these OTT plots work and make Nikki feel like a real character.
  9. Tyler Christopher was on GH off and on for 15 years but I'm not sure he ever had one successful romantic pairing. I actually struggle to think of any other cast member who had such a splashy, very popular early run and then failed to capitalize on it afterward (even by 1998 Nikolas already felt like a spent character, just kept going by the charisma Christopher lost with time).
  10. I imagine many DS actors wove in and out based on theater work. I think that's one of the reasons why Louis Edmonds began appearing so sporadically in his last year on the show. There are others I sometimes wonder about being on some sort of standby - I know John Karlen jumped in to play the 1840 role originally meant for Roger Davis (thank goodness for that...).
  11. I know Stefan and Laura were well-received in those 1996 flashbacks to her time on the island, but when the show tried to pair them in 1999 and 2000 they just bored the hell out of me (it didn't help that the entire show was boring as hell and glacial by that point). And his calling her "Lasha" over and over just got on my nerves. It sounded like a She-Ra character.
  12. Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams on AMC and Loving/The City.
  13. I can imagine that scene with Susan must have been heartbreaking. Thanks for finding that. And thank you @JAS0N47for all these Marlena daily memories.
  14. This certainly makes sense:
  15. Another shining moment from one of the more pathetic Beltway figures (Kim). @Vee Even the quotes are enraging. Just shameful. I will always blame the media, above all others, for the slow death of this country.

She's reportedly been impaired for a while now. For lack of a better term. There was a report saying she no longer leaves her apartment. I just hope that she is being taken care of.
  17. Complete with endless, gushing media coverage.

Debbie has spent years doing talk show hosting gigs since then. I imagine she'd be fine. I don't know if she would fit the Meghan McCain/Elisabeth role though.
  19. That and Scott Reeves sucks.
  20. I saw some replies saying it reminded them of the commercials and newsbreaks in the Robocop movies.
  21. I think so, yes. The main phasing out of the Hardys and especially the Baldwins started around 1984 or so, I think, culminating in Monty writing the Baldwins out. I'm not even sure if they got an exit.
  22. I tend to wonder if she would have been seen as too much a part of the past, and slowly whittled down, like Jessie and the Hardys and Gail and Lee were. I can't see her in stories like dating Jeff. It's interesting to speculate about though. I could see her tangling with someone like Tracy and being strung along by Mitch Williams.
