I think another problem is the soaps no longer are willing to write older characters as older characters. You have people who are 70 or 80 written as being much younger. There is no real sense of generations, history, or community. Speaking of that, I just saw that a few weeks ago, someone put up an episode from September 1989...VERY hard to find anything from that period. There are some audio and visual issues, very tinny sound, but I think you will still enjoy it.

I was reading about the comments Rebel Wilson made after Will Smith won Best Actor at the BAFTAs (dragging him for Jada being with other men). I know that Jada herself brought all that up on her talk show, but I wish so many of these hosts would stop trying to "shock" everyone and just tell a few jokes and get the hell out of the way. It's just graceless, and tired.

I think he's saying a lot of that because he knows he will be accused of being a warmonger (even more than he already is) and give many on the left and the right an opening to go after him (more than they already are). I also wonder if it's because he was a young man when nuclear buildup began, and not in the position of comfort and delusion that Trump was in.

William Hurt was capable of ugliness, as Marlee Matlin has written about. He was also a wonderful actor and, in the '80s, one of the most gorgeous men ever to be captured on film. Really thrown to hear he's passed away.
