  1. Still never know who decided Nick would be the great evil while Ben was a sweetie pie. No amount of one handed fever dreams will hide that he is a corpse implanted into a Ken doll.
  2. @j swift Rubin is one of the most pathetic sellouts and grifters I've ever seen. Last year when he announced that he and his husband were going to be parents to twins (such a stupid idea to broadcast this on social media unless you are an attention whore) he was lit up by many of his followers, who are not fond of lgbt people, let alone them raising kids. He also fled California (after insisting he could help get Gavin Newsom recalled) for Florida, trying to glom onto DeSantis. His endless mentions of Thanos and 1984 have made him even more of a joke. This account (whoever ran it left Twitter when Elon took over) has many clips of his idiocy.
  3. A Strange Paradise episode is currently running on this channel.
  4. Nude photos of him were published in a photography book around that time (although IIRC he wasn't thrilled when people would ask him about it), which probably helped. This was around the time Mark Mortimer was cast on AW after his most known role being posing on packets of underwear (Mortimer did eventually become a decent enough actor).
  5. Melinda was one of those underappreciated talents of the '70s and early '80s, although she did keep on working. I can't imagine A Christmas Story working without her. I remember Pauline Kael raving about her in Absence of Malice, even as she disliked the rest of the film.
  6. The baby was Cassie's (with Hart) - Cassie having his child while Dinah could not was one of the things which sent her further into a point of no return, along with the period (if you can find any of this, please watch some just for how ludicrous it is) where she was left with scars from setting a fire to keep Hart with her. This went on for months, with Wendy Moniz forced to hold a napkin to her face rather than the makeup people having to spend a lot of time and money. Dinah was insufferable for Moniz's whole run, but the main difference for me between the first few years and the last few is that in those last few she was meant to be damaged, bitter, vengeful, and I could understand that and feel for her. In the first few she was supposed to be a heroine, and it just did not work, ever. Grillo was cast after the actor before him left abruptly. I think if Hart had ever had any value to the show by those years beyond a piece of ass, they would have tried harder to find a better actor, but he didn't, especially after Michael Zaslow was fired. I did like Morgan Englund but you aren't wrong. There's some anecdote, I have no idea if it's true, that someone met his mother at a party and she told them she never thought he was going to be an actor either. San Cristobel wasn't around that long considering how much it generated controversy at the time for hogging airtime and never going away - I think summer 1999 - fall 2001 (probably wrong). If there were any black people they were probably just extras. There's one somewhat infamous scene where Cassie gives her tiara "to the people" - knowing P&G by that point, if they had any black actors they would have put them in that type of scene.
  7. Thanks @Vee I'd never seen that. I wonder if that was the last (must be 1992). I just happened to stumble onto a movie Callan White made in the early '80s, one of those popular at the time about women scheming to the top of the corporate ladder. Similar to another I saw that was filmed from that early VHS period which was shot and lit like a soap opera, was Canadian, and featured several actors who went on to be on soaps, it was softcore trash. Her lover (one of them) was Page Fletcher, whose ass in tight jeans as he walked down a highway was a seminal moment for '80s HBO. You will not be surprised to learn that he had almost no nudity compared to her, but you might be surprised at just how extensive her nudity was. I wonder how she went from that to, within a few years, playing goody-goody Ann on Loving (not that she was the first softcore actor to go on to daytime - other than Jeff Griggs, allegedly, it didn't seem to hurt any of them). It shows you just how wasted she was as Ann - she could have easily played a bitchier turn in the character.
  8. Hart accidentally hit her in the stomach with a door and she miscarried. At the time I remember finding the whole thing unpleasant, although Wendy Moniz played the hell out of Dinah's whole years-long downward spiral. There was some fan consternation at the time because of the bizarre door design which was remade solely for that sequence - otherwise she never would have been hit when he barged in (he thought there was a prowler).
  9. For some reason I thought he had a sister, but then I realized that was Zane. I thought there was a clip where he talked about his height but I can't remember anymore. His memorial may be the best place to look. (the last moments with Stephen Schnetzer and Linda Dano speaking to viewers always break my heart):
  10. Christine Baranski as well.
  11. With inevitable tweets like these: (he asks people to subscribe to The Nation, which now seems to exist solely for Russia apologias). I don't know who the hell the new Gawker was for - I assume just for very rich people who want to show each other how smart and above it all they are. Unfortunately, they did not have the endless money well that keeps similar sites like Jacobin choking along.
  12. Hearing about DeSantis, new media hero as they realize what an albatross Trump is, ruthlessly destroying so many Florida colleges, and working to lead some in a Democratic coalition against the colleges by parroting the line that he is not against education on the history of blacks in America, it's only those icky queer people who are warping for their own gain, is demoralizing beyond belief.
  13. Cut sketch from the episode.
  14. @Cat I saw that there's a rumor going around of Andy bawling Robyn out on WWHL (not oncamera, I assume), so maybe Bravo really were in the dark...

  16. I never really thought Billy and Sarah had chemistry. I also thought the pairing was lazy. The most interesting part was the whiplash from day to day of which writers tried to push it and which blasted AJ to hell.
  17. I'm so sorry to hear that.
  18. He did a few, but his best years were long gone. Jerry was interviewed a few years before his death, for a podcast; their relationship was just toxic and way too high profile for either of them, in part due to a tell-all book he wrote.
  19. They have a few 2001 episodes up as well.
  20. Michael, and a few of the later cast members (Leslie Easterbrook, Ed Marinaro). I have so many childhood memories of watching Laverne and Shirley repeats that aired in the mornings. I don't want to just associate her with that when she had other known roles and what might have been moments (she was almost cast as Princess Leia), but Shirley Feeney is just such an indomitable sitcom character.
  21. I was only back into GL for his last year, but I suppose it's a testament to him that he made such a poor part work for as long as he did.
